  1. I will soon be flying to Bangkok from The Phillipines on a return ticket valid for a maximum of 3 months. I once read somewhere that this may not gurarantee entry to Thailand unless I have an onward ticket to the UK or other western country of origin.

Is this true? And if so is there a way around it? I have no immidiate plans to return to the UK as I have not resided there in over 4 years though it is likely I will return to the Phillipines within the 3 months.

If I DO have to book an onward interational flight as proof, I don't own a credit card (learned that lesson!) so what is the best thing to do?

Or is a return ticket from a neighbouring Asian country sufficient?

    Thankd in adv.

  2. I'm sure there is nothing to worry about but I just want to cover myself, but I'm coming to Thailand next month from the Phillipines and later in that month would like to fly my Fillipino gf out for a holiday when she finishes her studies. I understand I can stay a maximum of 30 days with 2 visa runs, which is more than enough - she will probably come out shortly after the first visa run, stay for two weeks and we will fly back together.

Are the rules for her the same as for me, would she be questioned upon arrival? Can I or she expect any complications or is it as simple as I hope it will be?

    Thankyou.

  3. I agree that the place is very minimalist and sterile, the ceiling looks like it has been removed, exposing AC pipes, rivets and bolts but this is just Thaksins idea of art nouveau.

It lacks imagination and there's nothing about the place to tell you you're in Thailand should you be a first timer upon arrival.

It's all about shopping at the end of the day, a shopping mall with it's own airport.

However, my arrivals since the opening have been a breeze.

  4. I am in a situation where I am due to start work in Hong Kong very soon, between 4 days and one week, the thing is I have no set date as yet and although I know I will be going soon, my visa expires in about 4 days - so it looks like I will have to do a visa run for the sake of a couple of days which is a huge waste of time and money.

I could overstay but it wouldn't look good on my record, so I was wondering if I could explain the situation to immigration or my embassy and perhaps get a 10 day extension if I could prove I had employment in HK or better still, if I bought and produced an onward ticket.

Thanks in advance for any helpful pointers.
