I’m planning a trip to Thailand and had a few concerns I’d love advice on: Is Bangkok and Phuket still safe for travelers? (Combodia issues) I’ve been hearing a lot about price gouging—what’s the best way to get fair prices and good deals? Why do many places seem to have dual pricing (different rates for locals vs. tourists)? Is Laos (Vientiane) or other nearby destinations better value these days? Why do you think tourist numbers in Thailand seem to be declining lately? We’d prefer good quality dining (not just street food) and to stay at resorts or nice hotels—but according to some recent YouTube travel vlogs, Thailand is becoming overpriced for foreigners, and some even advise avoiding it altogether. What’s your honest take? Is Thailand still worth it, or are there better options in Southeast Asia right now?

Warning About Thailand Girl Scams (My Experience) I think the girls are getting smarter (the girls, not the guys). Looking back, I realize I fell for it—even though she never directly asked me for anything. She told me her ex-boyfriend from Taiwan sends money each month for her kids, so she was fine. But then things started happening: Cat Emergency She said her cat had an emergency because the ex hadn’t sent money yet. I told her I don’t send money online, but I could help when I came to Thailand. She said “okay” and then sent me a picture of her dead cat. Daughter in Trouble She said her daughter got caught in some scam and had to pay 20,000 baht. She sent me a picture of herself and her daughter at the police station—but never asked me for help. Broken Air Conditioner She sent me photos of herself sweating, saying her AC was broken—but didn’t ask me for money. Broken Water Heater She mentioned her kids couldn’t shower anymore because the water heater was broken—but again, didn’t ask for help. Watermelon Business Scam She told me she and a friend were scammed for $5,000 while selling watermelons. She said, “Don’t worry, I can handle it,” and didn’t ask me for money. This all happened between April and June 2025. There are more examples, but I wanted to share these to show how I fell into the trap of wanting to be the “white knight” to rescue my supposed true love. I helped her with situations 2, 3, 4, and 5, but not with the cat story (#1). Ironically, when she said “don’t worry, I don’t need help”, that’s exactly when I ended up offering money. I’m too embarrassed to admit how much I gave her in just five months, but let’s just say the $5,000 wasn’t all of it.

Just to make the point: this post is not for older men over 60's etc. they will mostly be more forgiving and they plan to move to Thailand to live with the girl. Older men probably wont care as much. This post is maily for younger folks (30-59) to not make the mistake of finding someone and attempting to take them to your own country. You need to invest years before you do that.

haha good one ! I think now I know the social/finacial level these girls are in there is no way they wait in house for payment to arrive. They will go work in bar or find someone weekly. I think only way they stop is if you live with them.

No brother lies and more lies I am done. NO more Thai trips for a while. I realzied I need to find someone with same social status and financial level as me else the relationship seems forced.

ya at first felt not attacted to her but later the stories about her being alone and husband left her and no one to love seemed like she was all alone and needed saving..oh well then i realized using AI that these are common lines in Thai, Girls use it on Tourists to hook them. It was just the first time I was hearing it.
