I have been offered a job at 90K baht/month working 100 hours/month with a class of 25 or less. Do you think this is good? The women interviewing me kept hinting that the majority of her teachers are not physically attractive or well dressed or good looking, so that might have been the kicker.

LOL more hating at english teachers... why dont you ask yourselves some questions like how are thai people gonna compete in the business world if they dont understand english and can not communicate with western person at a high and intellectually stimulating level -, lol. English teacher do the job with a low salary because we love thailand and thai people. that is something you people on TV who hate farang teacher will never understand. you are just hear for your own selfish deeds.

I am young, dress well, teach at a prestigous english school and no taxi has ever asked to take me to a massage. are you sure you dont hang out in the lower sukhumwit sois when this is happening? how are you dressed? like i said, i dress perfessional and i am young and good looking etc

you must be spending lots of time around soi 4 sukhumwit if you cant get them to put on the minor. i think you should find some other places to spend your time, and stop giving farang a bad name. thanks.

also, their are several different factors when talking about the thai peopulations, for instance, many farang overlook that there are many different regions of thailand that speak different dialectic languages than bangkok. so traveling is another advantage to learning about thais. teaching english is probably the best way, and i am taking advantage of that right now. Thank you.

just because someone has only been in thailand for 3-4 months does not mean that they do not understand thai people and thai history. the ability to understand people depends more on someones intelligence than it does on years spent inside a country - ask anyone who knows thai people well and they will tell you this. Fwiw, I have already made hundreds of friends in several different industries. I am also a teacher so I have the chance to meet and get to know all of my thai students, many who want to see my outside the classroom, wink wink.

i think phuket is a more likely target than bangkok for logistical reasons.

thailand has no colonies in its history because it was never powerful to do so competively against the western powers of the world. i think you under estimate its conflicts with bording countries. Thaiand is like every other country on planet, it took as much land as it was capable of taking. That said, I consider you a gentleman and an intelligent bloke for your comments and love of Thailand. the majority of TV members and Thailand farang are too old to worry about the possibility of a bomb threath. I mean, a day doesnt pass when I dont see some 60+ yo frng on the skytrain - these guys are old, so its pretty dumb to think they care about some small threath like this. To some extent, farang over 40 yo are killing thailand.

I am really happy to see this, finally someone putting the pressure on Taskin. I really hope that General Samprang is next in line after Sonthi, and that he follows though on his comment that Taskin should go live in the forest.

Looks like Thailand will head furthor down on the Freedoms of Media list, who would think that Vietnam would have more press freedom than Thailand!

I have actually directed two shorts in college on Brazillian EcoSystems. Perhaps Farang are interested in the nightlife aspects because it is a unique opertunity to teach alot of different people about why the women might be working there for and how they feel about it, and also how they interact with other men. also, see my reality twist to the whole thing.

I live in a boutique condominium which suits me pretty well right now, its affordable at 12K baht per month. I like it because I see neighbors often and it is close to the school were i work. well the problem is that the room above keep dropping stuff all the time at 4 am and making tons of noise and really not being considerate. ive complained a few times to the office downstairs who tell me that they have spoken to the person in question, but nothing is coming of it. i dont want to keep bothering them so i decided to go and knock on the door. it is another farang when he opens the door i wai him and say sawaadeekrap sa-bai dee mi? he looks down at me bloke is atleast 5'11 and laughs. I tell him that he has been making alot of noise... the bloke tells me its a cramped apartment and the walls are paper thin and i better get used to it... however no one else in the other rooms keeps me up all night.... i tell him "kar-toat krap (excuse me) please just try to keep it down if you can... i then wai him again and say kaup khun krap and he says "we aint thai, you dont have to be doing all of that". I just smiled and nodded politely.

what is my move here? i dont want to move, and i cant see the people downstair doing anything and i dont see anyother options.

If I make a documentry its going to be in a honest light. id select a wide range of farang:

expat

tourist

english teacher

tattooed expat

jet-setter (non backpack/english teacher) must make $50K+/year

Then I would select a wide range of women in the nightlife establishments from all the different regions of Thailand...

Then I would monitor their relationships over the course of 5 years to see what happens and what events unfold, I might even mix it up by letting the women being filmed know that i am available physically (not emotionally) if they want it - i think this adds a reality/dramatic moment to a documentry to give it more life and less text book feel.

also, if i had started the doc last year i could have gotten a feel how the coup effected these different farang and thai relationships.

I checked my Royal Orchid account, miles werent added from a month ago though my friend on the same flight already got there. FAQs say to bring them in person to a Thai Air Office or Member Services. Anyone know where exactly this in BKK? Thanks.
