  1. She should obtain another single or multi entry non immigrant O visa and return with that. Now (if you want to use only single entry visa) or once she returns (may require a multi enter and visa run to meet three month requirement) you should help her set up a local bank account so that she can later extend her stay for retirement and not have to make visa runs (the amount required on deposit will be the difference between 65k and the amount she has as retirement pension that her Embassy can certify). That amount should be on deposit for a least three months prior to application for retirement extension of stay. It would also be advisable to arrange SWIFT transfer ability with her bank while home in case she wants to use that in place of ATM card (with current exchange rate it is probably less expensive to send foreign currency to Thailand for exchange even if paying a high fee per transfer as you can transfer less often but higher amounts).

She should not worry about tax payments. That would normally only apply to current income received in Thailand during year earned and those retired are assumed to be bringing in savings. Also there are often tax treaties that would prevent tax on tax.

Thank you so much Lopburi, quitly I was allready hoping that you would respond, cause you always give so clear answers about for us complicated subjects. Now you gave me the answer I was looking for, good job,I own you.

I am from the Netherlands and we do have a treatie with thailand,so what you talked about is, it will be no problem if she used tranfers from her Dutch bank to a new thaibank? And not have to pay any taxes give me now a very clear relief for my family here, now I know we not do something wrong what we not knew about.

I will arrange a bank for her and will try to make the visa change happen, thanks so many.

    greetings Tijnebijn.

  2. Hi everybody,

I am writing this topic to ask about 2 things what is still not clear to me.I've asked for advise in an earlier post, but still not got it.

Well the question is not for myself but for my mother, who arrived in Thailand feb 4 2006 on a multiple non-o visa. The visa is in the 15th month period now(the last extra 3 months),my mom is planning to fly in mid may back to homecountry, and wants to come back to thailand the month after. She is just falling short for the 65k(got 60k),if for pensionvisa, and at the moment not have any savings(but about 100k in foreign account). Is it allright for her to apply for another mult non-O?I ask this cause my second question makes me think she stays on the wrong visa,or if it is fine ,the worries will go.

The second question arrived after I read some posts about persons staying over 180 days in a year having to pay taxes over their income, which my mom has.But I have no information about if she do have to pay?She not transfers money into here, she takes her from the atm,and wonder if she falls in the law of taxpayment.

If she does, wat to do??cause I think that when she got a pension visa, which I am not sure if she can get,do they automatically send a message to you to go to the revenuedepart...(if she has tp pay any)

maybe my post is a bit confusing, but I am about this,I do not want my mom do something wrong and not knowing it,please some advise from people who know what they are talking about,so I know not to worrie about or and what to do,thanks for any reply guys.

  3. Just let the next cabinet deside what to do,i do not think the thai want to make another misstep to make any decisions what the former cabinet made. The men in power should just be common sense and let the peace come back in the country and let real politicians make the decisions what is the best for the country, for them just go back to play wargames on the field, that is the best what they can do and what they are trained for.

  4. If you are pretty serious, which i doubt. It is like this the actual buddha wasn't Siddartha at all.

The spirit of the spiritual world leader overshadowed siddartha in that life, whereas he became enlightened.

For as now there seem to be a new world spriritual leader or master named Matreya.

If you want you could call him the buddha, but if somebody is really interesting about this you could read Benjamin's Cremes books or just visit the website on this.it is really interesting, also maye not to understandable for many.

  5. Good point ASTRAL.The thaiimm should look how they handle it,no much fuss at all.

But after all I stay in thai, and just not lucky whom stay here have the same comforts like expats have in malaysia.Around kota bahru I like a lot,it is like Indonesia and a nice island neirby, but Thailand has much better sharms, and offcourse the local religion I think is a big part of why people like it here in thai better then anywhere else in asia,it is the thaiway. But still easy visa runs and ext is a big fuss,no have to be like that though.Still love thailand no matter what.

  6. Pai has been my home for the last 5 years. Over this time we have about the same amount of Falangs living in Pai and coming though as backpackers or visitors. (maybe a small increase)

When I first came here there we almost ZERO Thai tourists. Unfortunately over the last 1 1/2 years on holidays and weekends the place gets invaded by hoardes of Bangkok aliens. Thai tourists that come in minibusses, stay in the designated resort and eat at the designated restaurants. They really haven't done much to help the ambiance and they actually hurt many of the businesses geared towards falangs especially internet shops and because they dont use the internet and drive falang tourists out of town.

Around chrismas time it was like the sunday market in Chaing Mai, shoulder to shoulder not even being able to move on the street. And in terms of helping the economy, they are helping the other bangkok people who came here to open businesses to cater to them. In terms of the local people...well.......they can do the laundry..... :o

and dont even get me started on the hot springs. for the past 5 years, the Natural hotsprings has been the staple and meeting ground of many locals who live in Pai. A short drive from town many people go there every day in the winter to bathe and meet.

well this year, due to bangkok politics, the hot springs got rezoned and suddenly instead of being free it is now 400 baht for a falang to enter and 20 baht for a thai person. well that ensured mass protest among the locals who began to sneak in, blantently ignore the guard and get in direct verbal and physically confrontations. this situation proved quite embarrassing for the guards as they are local people too....and so on...

anyways. pai still is great, but unfortunately if it continues to grow at this rate and the BKK keeps coming it will be like Ko Samui in a few years. pray they go home.

You have got to be kidding.. The Thai's have every right to do as they please, it's their country. With attitudes like yours no wonder the smiles are sliding away from the Thais faces..Try stopping the "Londoners" from visiting Stonehenge as well, and while your at it keep all Americans out of the grand canyon and niagra falls.. If you want a farang only haven..go home..easy.. I do agrre with you on the dual pricing subject though.. :D

agree, sometimes we do forget that we are and will ever be farang, means we are the guests of the thai people.

  7. Any further news about multi entry O visas from Singapore.

Have booked flights there next week.

Read on another thread that not issuing them anymore, but cant find the thread.

    Cheers,

I do think they are still issuing them.Sometimes i get the impression that some reports are a little bogus.

maybe they asked a question not right or wrote in wrong in a quote.

KL is still issuing them, and I am almost positively sure that with the mult non O,just Sing took their own regulations to change. And still do not think it will be all around the globe. It is surprisingly quit the last few weeks on reports. This is a very good sign,no news is good news.Go to KL to be sure.

  8. Why you should not join your friend??

You could like many travelers just take a tourist visa, this is thailand, just do it like many of us.

Not go work though, for that you need a work permit. But while you stay here you always could find your way if there is any ,and change your visa status when it is that far.Anyway, you still have a good time in thailand, and the girl making the money, just keep some pocket money for yourself and look what happens.

  9. Oh my,who would think after this post was send, that there would come so many discussions out of it.

I think she just ties us out,but is not that serious anyway.proberly not so very sure about herself.

Cause any woman, not matter what could catch a man very easily.A man senses that, and makes them likeable.

Like many wrote before me,that there will be no difference where you come from, but she has got a lot of competition. And not everybody who stays here are sex tourists or are in need for a woman. Many farangs I see,I think can hardly find a woman in their home country, they just not look very fancyable, and farang woman look at that a lot.For thai ladys it is different,we look different, what they like, and many old guys, they love them for their pensions.but that is oke, they both have the times of their lives,it just comes together.not that it will fit for me,but it is funny to look at it.For Zaza, she just plays around, anyway still nice topic afterwards. :o

    :D :D

hahahaha ,something like that yeah maveric.

  10. Watch out,I hope you do not have any allergie against wesps.Cause my brother in law have to cary an injection all the time with him.he never knew he was alergic,if someone in your family is,which you do not know yet, could be alarming dangerous.Especially if they hit it in and around your throte........

Also, you never know how big the nest will grow,i would just carefully make it disappear and let them make their home somewhere else where it is safe.

  12. Thanks a lot guys,

I think I have got a lot of information now I did not have before.

By the way,I was going to Bangkok anyway,so that's why this suggestion,CM agencies charge a lot comparable with Bangkok. And now I also understand that online booking is oke,I will check it all out.

Everybody thank you so much ,if their was no thaivisa.......I would pay a lot more.

  13. Farangsay: How safe are the KSR travel agents - by safe I mean reliable? If I book and pay for a ticket with them - will the airline honour the ticket etc?

    Peter

    Can it be like that?

I am just not used to be paying with creditcards on the internet, though,is that safer then?

Although I never have heard about unreliable businesses relating to bying tickets in Thailand untill now,if it is I would like to know from somebody who has got ripped of...

surprises me if it is,but maybe I am just a bit unknowledgeable about these things.

  14. If you're in BKK it might be worth while trawling

all the little "travel agents" on KSR.

I did that once , said "Thanks , I'll think about"

each time and then went back and took the best

    offer.

Allright will check it out,I prefer to pay incash instead of the internet payments.I reckon on the Khaosan i can find a much better deal then back here in CM.Just a few thousand down and am happy again :o

    Thanks for the information

  15. Hi there. I had a bit of spare time this afternoon, tijnebijn - so I did some checking for you (free of charge :D).

The best deal I could find on BKK-AMS-BKK was using ebookers.com and their best fare for mid-May 2007 was $US878 (29,590 Thai baht).

    Peter

Edit: That's return trip, including all taxes and charges.

Thanks a lot Peter,I will check it out, much better then I could find myself. :o

  16. Hi,

Is there a chance to meet nice open minded farang men here ??Am a woman from an Arabic origin and that seems a bit frightening to most of the farang here :o .Maybe you would say I'd better look for arabic men but simply they are not my style cause I was raised in UK and am working here in Bkk.

Is being Arabic provocate hatred or dislike among farang cause they think we are all terrorist or extremist even if am not releigouse myself??

Please tell me your opinons honestly and bluntly

    Thx

Absolutely not and most Farang males would probably welcome you with open arms. However being Arabic it is my guess that you still, quite rightly, maintain a high moral code. Therefore may I suggest that in order for that to be respected you avoid Farangs from USA, France, Australia, New Zealand, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Russia, Norway etc etc. Your best bet is to rely on the only moral Farang nationality there is - English. ( No, not Taffs, Jocks or Micks either ). Best of luck in your search

Common gummy, why generalise so many countries,i am Dutch .And I think we have one of the most multicultural country's in the world, with equal values. Not a thinh to write down,I am sorry, cause it is an individual thing not a country thing.

Oops sorry, just slipped my mind - what was that Dutch Muslim MP who was disqualified and now living in the States?

So does that have anything to do with this topic???Gummy is a dummy.
