Manoram has excellent doctors but is quite expensive, can she afford it?

For government hospitals the best one is Somdet Chao Phraya

    https://www.somdet.go.th/

If it is a psychiatric (as opposed to neurologic) condition, any psychiatrist will be experienced in management. If using government hospital, use of the after hours clinic is poreferred as it will allow more time with the doctor and direct consultation with a senior doctor.

How old is she and when did this start? Schizophrenia usuall yhas onset in late teens or early 20's. Onset at a later age may suggest an underlying neurological condition or drug use.

Thank you for your contribution. Yes you are right, she is 38 years old but she first experienced this 17 years ago so early 20s. During the 17 years, it has been manageable. However, she recently did marijuana a couple of times (after it was legalized early June) and she started experiencing the worst relapse in years. I did some research online and it seems marijuana can cause this to certain people who are prone to psychiatric conditions.

For private hospitals would you recommend Manarom over specific doctors in say hospitals such as BNH or Bangkok Hospital? Do you know the approximate cost for an appointment in Manarom hospital? Thanks again.

  2. Hello, I am seeking help on behalf of a Thai friend who suffers from auditory hallucinations (hearing voices saying all kinds of negative things). I am not really sure if a psychologist or psychiatrist is needed but after inquiring by email with a well recommended psychologist, he advised me to rather seek help from a psychiatrist because in his opinion usually auditory hallucinations require medication.

I am aware of a few hospitals such as Manarom or Galaya Rajanakarindra Institute (in which she had bad experience and no real help), but would be nice to have a few recommendations of specific docs in hospitals that have some experience treating similar mental conditions. As she is a Thai, she would make most of it if she could communicate in Thai. Thank you in advance for your help.

    My thoughts.

PayPal forced me to open a Thai account after my Oz account was geo locked every time I tried to log in to it from Thailand.  I am amazed you can still access your Euro account.

You should go the ED visa route.  But the quoted 40k is ridiculously expensive.  Before I was 50 and eligible for the retirement visa I used to do annual ED visa for 25K (including actual thai lessons).  You also had the option to do the lessons online but I elected to go to class for the social interaction.  A mate of mine also used an agent to get 12 month ED visa (incountry) for 18K per year with no actual schooling attached.  But his passport was sent to Bangkok and stamped there.

Keep in mind that the ED visa does not have to be just for language.  There is a self defense program up in Chang Mai that is run by (Ex) Thai Military guys.  One of the guys goes along with you to immigration when you apply for your ED visa and it ALWAYS goes smoothly.

And finally, just get vaccinated.  Two shot of Pfizer.  They are and evil and morally bereft organisation.  But their Covid vaccine is good.

Yes I am also surprised you can still access your European Paypal by being here. Your European Paypal will not be affected at all by the new regulations but in your case I would use a VPN to access the European Paypal. They might not have caught you yet but Paypal doesnt like usage of its services outside of the original registration country but you might get away if you are an occasional user.

He was found guilty of some serious offences. Are you suggesting the Police beat themselves to set him up?

This is what a few members suggest here. As if Harry is the first or only celebrity going to Mykonos. Every year, scores of celebrities, jet-setters, famous actors and singers, footballers etc descend to Mykonos and yet Harry Maguire is the only celebrity being set up or kidnapped(!)? What a ridiculous claim. He should had thought of something more believable, this story does not even fly with his own people let alone with a judge and the word of 4-5 cops.

Final point: Does anyone trust that the Greek police did not try and extort a wealthy famous person then play the sanctimonious and moral high ground once it goes wrong? (the Thai and the Greek Police and legal systems are somewhat remarkably similar in the way they are viewed with distrust by locals and long term expats living in the country).

Sorry to burst your bubble but I have been and lived all over Europe and I would have the same level tof trust to a French or UK police officer as I would have had for a Greek one. Try bribing Greek police and you will see it will not work as good as it works sometimes here. I am also sure the judicial system did its work in this case as it should (and rightly so) without a care in the world who this guy is. If anything he was actually treated better than a local or a normal guy and spent only two nights behind bars. A couple of weeks for this type of behavior would have been more appropriate.

And for the other poster who defended his actions because his sister was insulted, well fine, except that he is not In trouble for beating the cr*p out of its fellow countrymen who insulted his sister, he is in trouble for behaving like an a*s with police officers, resisting, trying to beat a couple of them and bribing them. For sure, UK police would not offer tea and cake to someone who displays similar behavior  now wouldnt it?

No surprises here. No disrespect meant but have you ever witnessed the fine behavior of some of your fellow countrymen in the likes of Cavos Corfu, Faliraki Rodos, Chersonisos Crete, Ios and other fine places of low class cheap tourism? It is just that this guy is rich and can afford Mykonos. It is the very same man who would not even go to the court himself to say his side of the story and protest his innocence but opted to send his expensive lawyers instead. Just because he can afford it.

    Yes I am Greek.

i just want to get the hell out of this town.

i don't care if I have to walk naked to Bangkok just get me out of here.

Why you just dont go? Many people travel return from hua hin to bkk without issues at all and they have been doing it for weeks already. I also went twice in the last 3 weeks. No problems at all.

  7. I have a non-O one year multiple entry due to expire in the end of May. I just got a new passport and about to do a visa run in Myanmar by land to reset a fresh 90-day entry. Is it correct to assume that I need to bring both passports to the border crossing (the cancelled old passport with the still valid visa and the new fresh passport to get a new entry stamp) to have a smooth crossing? And this procedure is to be repeated until the expiration of the visa in the old passport?

  8. I am due to reset a 90 day entry on a non O multiple entry visa soon. Previous trip I went to ranong which was smooth but would like to change scenery this time. Is the Phu Nam Ron in Kanchanaburi also smooth? I am travelling from Hua hin.

By the way is there a link or list with all Thai border crossings listed? Could not find anything like this here

You need a termination letter from your employer or immigration at the Nong Khai crossing may not allow you to leave the country without it, The date on the letter would have to be on or after the date you leave the country.

Immigration is not interested in the work permit being cancelled.

If you use the employer termination letter to cancel your extension in immigration in chaeng wattana (which i believe is the correct way of doing the cancelation rather than leaving without canceling the extension at immigration first) do you still need to have an employer termination letter in the border crossings of nong khai or mukdahan?

  10. I was at the Ministry of Labor today and attempted to cancel my work permit. I told them I was leaving on a Sunday night bus to Mukdahan and would exit Thailand Monday morning. They gave me 2 options: 1: cancel work permit today and immediately be technically on overstay or 2: leave country, get new Visa and re-enter. Then I can come and cancel work permit to clean up the record.

They absolutely refused to post date my cancellation until Monday. They said they will only cancel it the day you are there, putting you on overstay if you cannot leave the country immediately (that day). Absurd policies.

Canceling your work permit does not automatically cancel your extension of stay. Nobody notifies immigration when your work permit is canceled.

Without having a termination letter from your employer you may not be allowed to depart the country at Mukdahan.

Exited at Mukdahan without termination letter from employer. No issues. No questions.

Did you end up canceling the work permit in the end or did you just exit at mukdahan without canceling extension & work permit and without having a termination letter?
