  1. Who would visit a cement park?

The park is important for Thai people. It was sad to see today, how many people «stranded» at the entry of the park and had to take the picture from outside, far away from the statues of the kings.

I assume that there will be some angry Facebook posts from Thais why the chunta has closed the park on a holiday and without (clear) notice in advance.

  2. I have heard that they are selling well.

    Very price competitive.

I don't know how you can call less than £900 price competitive when they only power it with a 2.4lt as against ford having 3.2lt lump + extras electric rear folding seats eg.

The Everest is also 500 kilograms heavier than the new Pajero and has an older engine. The new Pajero has far more the better performance than the Everest and the Fortuner.

  3. The prenup is only valid, it it also was registered in Thailand, before you registered your marriage. The standard law in Thailand is, that all common assets (bought after you registered the marriage) will be shared by 50% (as far as I know).

Anyway, you should take a independent layer, at least for a legal advice. Good layers are not cheap, but this can save a lot of money.

It would not be easy, anyway. But a legal advice will give to a starting point for your next steps. I wish you good luck!

  4. My last rental in the U.S. was a Mazda X9 back in July, that was a pretty dang nice ride.

The current CX-9 quite and old car with outdated (Ford) technology. It is also ridiculous expensive in Thailand.

I fear, that the new CX-9 will also be very expensive because of the import taxes.

The upcoming CX-7 is based on the CX-5. I assume, that Mazda will bring it to Thailand, because there is a for 7-seater, which are not based on pick-ups. Currently you can only get the Chevrolet Captive and the Nissan X-Trail.

  5. The new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport was revealed, today. So we have a nice competition of 3 brand-new PPV's!

It's a shame, that Ford cannot deliver shortly after the release... Toyota has a better concept here. I already saw some new Fortuners on the roads.

I am looking around for a new 7-seater for my family. The choice is not easy. I like the Fortuner, but «hate» its 3rd folding concept, which took so much space... I like the moon roof of the Ranger and the style and specs of the new Pajero Sport looks good, too.

I also like the new Kia Grand Carnival and Kia Sorento - but the dealership is limited.

We are currently driving a Mazda CX-5. A new CX-7 seems to be available within the next 12 months. So perhaps it is better to wait a little...?

  6. The official Apple stores in Thailand (iStudio, iBeat) offers an insurance for new mobile devices. It costs about THB 700 and covers damage and loss.

A good screen protection and case helps alot. My iPhone 6 Plus survive already some drops. But you should take care of your expensive device and then the risks are low...

  7. If me I would wait a little to give the NEW Toyota the once over. smile.png

Hoping the new Toyota is also technical new. The current models have quite old engines, transmission and chassis. But Toyota has still the best resell value. Why not look at a second-hand model from Toyota SURE?

Our family uses a Mazda BT-50, because we a «Mazda Family». The new Nissan looks great and seems technical to be up to date. Isuzu seems to be good, too. Chevrolet has a bad reputation in Thailand.

Ford had a chassis problem with the Ranger (rusting). The Ford Ranger and the Mazda BT-50 shares the same technology with the exception of the frame and the rear suspension (Mazda is softer).

  8. For my first Thambun Baan about 15 guests stay for some days in my 2 bedroom house. We cleared the living room and verybody slept well on their mats. They also had no problems to share a single bathroom.

I was very concerned, first - but it was very easy. The guest made their own journeys or prepared/bought their meals. My only duty was to finance the food and beverage, of course.

But it was worth the investment, because the whole family is very loyal and helpful in many occasions.

  9. The H-1 minibus is very popular in Thailand. We own one and it is a great family mover for the travelling to my Thai relatives in the Isaan. Wie are living in Hua Hin and the nearest dealer is located in Bangkok... But the service is good.

I always look at the other typen when waiting for the service than. The Elantra looks very good, far more better than the equivalent Honda and Toyota models. I also take a look at the Tucson, but it is too expensive. We have then chosen the new CX-5 (Diesel) for or all-day family car.

  10. Hua Hin is of course a very good place to stay!

I bought a house here in 2008 and I am living here now since 3 years. We are located in Khao Tao, about 15 kilometres south of Hua Hin.

Since 2008, Hua Hin has made a big jump in infrastructure and it getting better and better. The drawbacks are the higher living costs and the traffic jams during the weekends. Hua Hin is one of the favourite weekend destinations for the middle class and up Bangkok Thais.

The land prices are more than four times higher now, too.

There are a wide range of rental houses here, as other already mentioned. But a good pool villa should be found from 50 kTHB per months on.

  11. Nexus products are unfortunately officially not available in Thailand. Some months ago, I saw low-spec Nexus 7 in a Tesco Lotus for sale. I assume, this was an exception.

I wouldn't recommend Chinese tablets. They are «cheap» in every way. Look for top brands like Samsung or Sony, when you really want to enjoy your tablet. But don't expect a bargain.

Banana IT offers 7-8" tablets from Acer and Lenovo starting at THB 6,000, but I don't know these products. A Samsung Galaxy Tab4 8" is mentioned with THB 11,500 - not fare away from a iPad Mini Retina (THB 13,400)...

  12. Playboy is primarily know in Thailand as a (very popular) fashion brand. Most of the Thais don'y know its origin. So don't expect anything, if a woman has this sticker on her car...!

My spouse also had such a sticker on her car - until I told her for what Playboy is known by Western men... ;-)

Many Thais wear T-Shirts with English expressions and don't know the meaning. Stickers and logos are often only fashion/decoration and have no relevance to the ideas or opinion of the people.

  13. I wonder when they will also demand Latitude and Longitude details on all addresses.

This is BTW the best way to operate a GPS in Thailand! I always try to find the exact location in GoogleEarth. In Bangkok and other big cities, it is possible to use a POI (point of interest) nearby, like hotels.

Thais navigate by phone. They ask first for the region and call then for the last kilometres. The Thai address have no common system and even non-local Thais have a problem with it. That is also the reason why HomePro etc. always ask for a map...

  14. On Paper No, they are not,but when Thais fill em up with half the Village they are. They cant hold on to a Mitsu Mini on our Mountains. biggrin.png

You should make a test ride with the CX-5 Diesel. You will feel then the «zoom zoom». The CX-5 has really a big punch and the engine also likes to rev.

The CX-5 Diesel has the same torque as many of the quite heavier pickups and big SUVs (PPVs).
