  1. The Thai Red Cross also has an HIV clinic called the "Anonymous Clinic" at Ratchadamri Road close to the Silom end. It's not completely free but very reasonable as they dispense generic drugs which are cheaper, as well as branded ones.

It is also open to all foreigners who need it. As the name suggests, you do not have to give your name, address or any ID numbers, just fill in a simple form and they issue you a number and give you a little green card with your number on it, that you present each time you need to go there.

Sorry to hear of your girlfriend's friends story, I am not posting to be argumentative but one part of your post I do not feel is true is the part above. The drugs to treat HIV are now not expensive and very available, and Thai national's can get them under the 30 baht health scheme. There is a seperate dedicated building at Banglamung hospital that is open on Tuesdays and Fridays for this purpose.

Another very good resourse for anyone affected by HIV is here:

www.okwecare.com (website in English and Thai)

To the OP if your gf comes across any other friends in a simular situation she could pass on this information to help them.

RIP to your GF's friend, it is very sad to hear of someone dying at only 30 years old of a condition that can be so easily and cheaply managed in 2016.

My state pension from Britain used to arrive a couple of days after the date upon which I became eligible then it began to slip and was arriving around two weeks after the relevant date then suddenly last month it was back to the former timing  !

A UK state pension is a weekly pension and sent out every four weeks, so depending on the days in a month it will change the payment date by a few days each time.

  5. I have difficulty standing for too long so now I use a walking stick. The first time I went to the airport using it, I was directed to use the fast track and sailed through.

After the flight as I was getting off the plane, I found they had requested a wheelchair for me and was taken by an airport guy all the way through the fast track right up to the taxi rank.

Now when I check in I go straight up to the airline help desk just beside the actual check in counter for that airline and request "wheelchair assistance" They take my bags and papers etc and check me in as "priority" so no need to wait in any line.

The wheelchair arrives with it's driver and off we go, whizzing past everyone. When it's time to board the guy comes back to take me right up to the aircraft door before others are allowed to board.

Now my need for this free service is genuine whilst some others might just abuse it, but who's to know.

In many airports around the world you can now see at immigration a dedicated line for VIPs, pregnant women or with young children and OAPs. You don't need a wheelchair, just a walking stick.

  6. I wish I was living in Thailand and could help the likes of all above...

YOU DON'T NEED A LAWYER BUT A BIT OF PATIENCE (And from reading this most days, 99.99% of people on TV have lost that along with many other things)...

Just go down there WITH YOUR PASSPORT... (if you want to save 4 Baht getting a photocopy of the main pages, then take your own otherwise they will tell you to 'Go to Bookshop to get copy' it's 2 minute’s walk and the girl knows exactly what you need...

Then go back to the 'Service Centre' and they take care of everything...

It costs 100 Baht and there are people to help you fill out all the forms etc...

It took me about One & a half hours (And I only went there to get the necessary forms and what was needed next!!!)

It takes about 4 weeks to get it processed (I thought it was only going to take 2 weeks) but they then offered me the opportunity to have it sent to my (UK) address for an extra 150 Baht (which I chose) or if you need it in a real hurry they will courier it for (what I thought was Paeng Maak - 1100'ish)...

I'm hoping that by the time I get back to the UK, my self-addressed envelope (which they supplied) will not be too far from being a reality!!!

All the Police staff down at the Service Centre were very polite and helpful and I wish to thank them for their assistance to my cause.

I will post a follow up as to the final outcome in due course...

p.s. Sorry to all you 3 to 4k types!!!!!

Thanks that sounds great, do they do the finger prints there also?

  7. It's fully documented and I've done this recently, It would be handy if you have someone in Thailand to do the running back and forwards for you, I'll see if I can post the correct Royal Thai Police Force links for you shortly sir.

the website is laughably broken right now, http://www.pcscenter.sb.police.go.th/eng/

But you can follow the .ca way, http://www.thaiembassy.ca/en/visiting-thailand/police-clearance-certificates

    Good Luck.

    Thank you. biggrin.png

  8. Normal procedure would be to call the service of the hospital you plan to use if not too time sensitive. But for most people much more efficient to take closest taxi if able - ambulance service is normally used for transport between hospitals rather than emergency use if in Bangkok due to the traffic delays.

That said medical emergency number is 1554

    Thank you. smile.png
