  1. This topic really needs some clarification.

x-road 250 = this bike has always been a ckd(complete knock down) kit Imported from Sachs suppliers in china ( much the same as the Gmax is from PGO)

Boxer 250/200 = paused but likely to continue ( made in thailand )

Bulldog 150 = made in Thailand

    Retro 110 C = made in Thailand

Retro Sport = made in thailand

    Future = made in thailand

    Smart 115-135= made in thailand

CX 135 = made in Thailand

Made in Thailand = more than 75% of the final Product's parts come from Thailand

Richard-bkk ,Tiger Motor Co LTD has in fact NEVER told you that they moved all (or any )production to China.

I asked Tiger Motors yesterday about your statement ( moving all ,or any, production into another country ) and i quote the reply "No... Why would we do that?

    mbox

mbox, is this really a clarification, just because you tell it? Maybe Tiger is not moving production to China. But all the things you tell us? How reliable are they? Can you provide some links to official information sources please? You are not an official source as you have told us before.

IMHO the rumours about Tiger are a result of the contradictory informations that people like you spread around. I never read any official statement from Tiger about what exactly is produced in Thailand or is produced by Tiger. Official statements are very vage. All the "more precise information" is coming from some farang like you and Richard-BKK, who keep on telling what others told them what others told them... And some people like BigBikeBkk like to add some own created "facts" to it.

I would really appriciate clarification, but information should come from official sources. As long as there is no official information i will believe what is more logical.

wantan, reading this again...so you want tiger motors making an official statement telling you that they will not move anywhere , just because Richard-bkk made up some tale of moving somewhere ...which in his reply today was controversial already...he only spoke about 2 bikes xroad ( whicch is an imported ckd kit) & boxer but he stated earlier that tiger motors is moving all production to china which he did not repeat , nor can he produce the emailor other source of proof of truth ....simply put, he can not produce this , because it is NOT True.

wantan, i have the email from Tiger Motors on hand now....i can easily forward it to Thaivisa moderators for them to see . ...but it is Richard Bkk that needs to proof his statement . Remember he was asked from Moderation to bring proof or source of info, which he didn't

  4. When buying a Tiger Bike online the exact same price will be charged as at the Showroom in BKK ( or even if you walk-in at factory in Samut Prakarn) because online sales are direct from factory Sales. There is a shipping charge , depending on location. Client's service center in his area he will be informed about, Service Center gets margin payment for the new Client . Pre- delivery check is done at factory level ... you are right they could do better in this section .

"Service Center" is a Tiger appointed mechanic. The list , granted, is a few month old and sometimes things do change-even though it was confirmed that it was up-to-date (you are right the CM service center has changed which was quite necessary ) in any case the buyer will be informed about this prior to receiving his Bike and if things aren't Ok a better solution will be found ( as seen in CM).

Since Tiger Bikes are simple bikes they are usually easy to fix. If there are problems that can't be solved by mechaninc Tiger Motors may send a service team right to you . Spares, some of the tiger parts do interchange from other manufacturers or can be easily sent from Samut Prakarn if needed.

All online ordering and Service or warranty matters are handled swiftly and in english and without headaches (communication is mostly via email, but can also be by phone).

Discounts are not offered - price is set by Tiger Motors.

  5. Shark helmets seem a good quality helmet.

Personally i use a Real Helmet since the last 2 years and shall have a new HJC Helmet the coming week.

Real Helmets are quite decent ,low priced & have DOT, it is a Thai made Product .

HJC is a well known international Brand , very good quality for decent price ( most approvals they have too )

Bilmola is a Thai Brand that seems new (at least new to me) their products seem to include Carbon Helmets too...could be an interesting Product (they claim ECE 22.05 Reg)- they look ok also .

if i'd choose 2 brands i would probably take one international brand(shark,hjc...) and one of the better local brands and see what sells best...

  6. The Retro sports is a great looking bike. I was sitting on the original Honda version just 3 hours ago! Sadly not mine but belongs a mate of the wifes.

I am curious which bike was made first, not the first to sell in Thailand, but how long both companies have been making them.

The price is great by the way for either of them, Ryuko or Tiger.

I DO like the Tiger sidecar concept, by the way I was told recently sidecars (not salings) are not legal here? I found that hard to believe, anyone know? I met the owner or bloke with the most stock in Tiger when I first came to Thailand, very nice guy, who wanted to know if I could make MP3 player for his bikes.

I was based in Taiwan then doing silly stuff like that.

I wish some of the other 250 road bikes from China where available here.

Tiger Retro with sidecar is legal.(i think it is already mentioned here and in other Forums numerous times)

if you looking at bikes with sidecar later added they are likely illegal.

  7. I not think that a motorcycle manufacturer with more than 2,500 employees, and Zongshen Motors has a annual output of 4 million motorcycles and more than 7 million key & important components.

Thanks Richard, yep Zongshen it is...but what did you want to tell us in that line i quoted? Seems like something is missing... or am i missing something?

    thanks , mbox

  8. The wife has a few original old bikes, but she's thinking of one of these.

Interesting the "More agricultural" comment, she said to her it looked more like the original honda c and felt more solid.

    Price was 28 000 I think.

Interesting they used to sell the Tiger version and have switched to this.

Agree the sales girl was a twit :)

Given the original Hondo C is a collectors itme both here and China, maybe the Ryuko was first with this? Will do some more research.

    THANKS everyone - appreciate it.

Actually Tiger Retro was first with the Retro here than Ryuka....probably the reason why tiger introduced the "Retro Sport" and the "Tiger Future" (post some pics below)

ummm, when i look at the blue retro here you won't have to ask me which one i would take (being biased i have a retro myself since 6 month and 5100 troublefree km's on it).

  9. You're right i think the ryuka was not copied from the Tiger Retro...maybe ryuka only picked up the idea when the Retro's were around.

I too saw the Ryuka a few months ago .I found the bikes somewhat same but the design and looks are a bit different specially the colorschemes on the Ryuka i did not particular like. The seat maybe more comfy but also not really good looking ,fuel gauge under the seat was also noticed . The horncover in "chrome-color" was nice. The Tiger Retro' will also have these chrome horncover and will come with the windshield & holder . Also there seem to be some nicer sidecovers for the Retro available (even though they are already better looking now in different color tone - another thing that makes a difference on this ryuka).

The price advertised on this shop was 32500 thb (not sure what was included in that price)

Here the pics i made back in January.

  10. Just an update, the bike is still doing just fine, I did have an issue of a slight oil leak near the top of the engine head, I took it in and they changed an O ring and now it seems to have stopped.

I haven't seen any other 200's around town but there are lots for sale now.

I guess I have the only one.

Thanks for the update, how many km's have you done to date? About 2 month you have it now, right?

  11. The week after Songkran, I'm doing a major "road trip".

    Chiag Mai to Mai Sai

    Mai Sai to Phrae

    Phrae to Phitsanulok

    Phitsanulok to Udon Thani

    Udon Thani to Kalasin

    Kasalin to Ubon Ratchathani

    Ubon to Nakon Ratchasima

    Nakon R to Lop Buri.

    Lop Buri to Tak.

    Tak to Chiang Mai.

Take about 2 weeks and about 3,000 kilometers. And that's on a 150! Anyone who wants to tag along for all or part, send me a PM.

Oh, and feel free to tell me you think I'm Nucking Futs! hahaha

    :whistling:

umm 3000km in 14 days? thats 215km/day ...if i had time i'd join in on a Tiger Retro 110c ...did recently 120km in a little over 2 hours ...so i am sure 4-5 hrs for appr 215km ?...if a few climbs have it 6-7 hours...but still very easy to do.

  12. There is no Thai law that allows a motorcycle with a sidecar to be legally registered. This means they cannot be legitimately insured.

Therefore, all motorcycles with sidecars are illegal. Motorcycles are the only two-wheel vehicles that may be legally registered and be legitimately insured."

Monday, April 23, 2001 Somjit Boonchaoy, Phuket Provincial Transportation Office.

Motorbikes with sidecar can legally be registered and insured ...but first the Manufacturer will have to apply for this Bike with sidecar at DLT ( and get homolegislated), Tiger Motors has done that and the Tiger Retro with sidecar has been legally available since 1,5 years and the stallion with sidecar i believe even longer.

Most vendor bikes with sidecar are illegal though as the sidecars are later added, nor applied for at DLT. Imported Bikes, not sure if possible at all to have a legal , but even if it would be possible i don't think many manufacturer would be bothered to apply for their rigs to be legally sold here...unless they could sell a lot of them.

  13. I went to the motor show today.

I really liked the Stallions, especially the Gio 125. It looks like a Honda Gorilla, it comes with green book and costs around 35.000. Good build quality and very cool parts for customizing.

I asked them how many hp they have, but the guy said they haven't put it on a dyno yet...strange...huh.gif

Anyone knows more about this bike/company (technical info, reliability, quality etc)? Would have loved to test it, but not possibleermm.gif

    edit:

    found the website

    http://www.p-bike.ne...9105296&Ntype=4

and the brochure from the show...

    3 years/30.000km engine warranty

    electric+kick start

    3 versions: 50cc auto clutch 36.500Bht

    125cc auto clutch 38.500Bht

    125cc Hand clutch 40.500Bht

Mezcal did you see the larger bike from Stallion too? It look a little like a shrunk version of the XR1200 ? When i saw it it was still covered and thus why no photo.

Stallion Bikes are parts imported from China and assembled in Thailand by Tiger Motors .

    Hope that helps,

  14. Boxer 250 EFI = nice :D

    Upon closer inspection:

Rear not monoshock design = not nice :(

Old style console = not nice :(

    Yoshimura pipes = nice :D

I hope it's still a prototype and the release model will have more improvements.

The Yoshi pipes will cost more than the bike :) (joke)

Dont think you will see Yoshi on these bikes just to good and to expensive for stock bike,, me think

The Plan is to have special edition for Boxer 250 , Madass & Kikass ...the Tiger PDK-Yoshi news were posted here: http://www.tigersach...b.com/news.html

Here some downloadable to read (powerpoint file ) : http://www.tigersach...20Motorshow.ppt

  15. Dinga, the registration for an imported Bike with sidecar will likely be impossible. The manufacturer would have to Homoleg the Rig first at the DLT .

You can import it but legally on the road it won't be...not to forget the emission standards which are not being met on the bike as mentioned in a prior post.

    mbox

  16. You in Bangkok? Maybe for sale, or details at the motorshow that is on now?

    No not in Bangkok

mbox... Great photo thanks, did you happen to see a price?

Out of interest Looked at the Price in the UK would work out at 63,000 baht.... Now a Thai imported PCX in the UK works out at 130,000 baht. So if this Sym was around 50 something thousand baht here, would be worth looking at, as bigger in size then the PCX

    Thanks

Ignis, i was there on pre-opening day 23 march and hardly any prices displayed on the Motorbikes . Likely you will see the price now , maybe someone else who goes to Motorshow can have a look?

  17. Reading the complete discussion, it seems that Richard was right after all...

MR. Poko , since , to date, no feedback from Sachs or SFM Germany was made it is still unclear what they wanna do. I think that Tiger will unlike to sell under the brand name "Sachs Bikes" in future . That doesn't mean you can't have a madass, kikass or x-road ...it will just another Brand name on it .

I also got an email from "Sam of FYM" as they seem desperate to sell their products( they guy sure has crap writing skills suggesting he's a primary school dropout- not even a signature 555)...i forwarded this email to Tiger Motors suggesting an official Statement . Which was made shortly after ...it is clearly stating "until the matters between both parties are settled" does not neccesarily mean that things are clear or that anyone is right or wrong ..... nor could "Sam of FYM" bring forward the neccesary paperwork that could proof for allowing him to sell under the Brand Name Sachs ( i asked him for that)

The big loser is FYM...because they not selling, and Sachs because their Brand is no longer visible ...i too may have to think of a new domain name now :realangry:. But it gives Tiger a much better chance to develop the Madass , kikass, x-road further which they had in mind anyways....previously, such development needed some approval from them(Sachs/SFM) and now they are not being asked anymore...good for Tiger and the Customer .

  19. How extensive is the SYM dealer network in Thailand? I'm a big fan of their products in Taiwan, but would be hesitant to purchase in Thailand unless their dealer network is better than I think it is. (I've never seen a SYM dealership anywhere in Thailand.)

I think in another thread there was mentioned of a SYM dealer in CM...but i found a website which you may wanna contact about here: http://www.sym-thailand.com/index.asp?pageid=154&pagelink=yes

  20. My girlfriend has a Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Custom, and I cannot understand that some people on this forum can say anything negative about it, if I compare the Vulcan to my H-D XL1200N Nightster I have to say that many things are much better suspension, acceleration and fuel economics... not forget it costs a good amount less.

Richard-Bkk do you have a picture of your Nightser?

I think the Nightster is one of the Harley Bikes that i'd also like....yeah show us some pics of your Nightster Richard, so much nicer on Bike-threads to look at pics :D

    happy trails,
