  1. nothing beats Mad Dogs breakfast... in terms of value for money :D

Oh, I'm not sure about that.. and certainly not the friendliest service in my experience (I've had breakfast there 3 or 4 times). I much prefer the breakfast and the service in The Half Moon - just around the corner from Mad Dog, on Soi 2. Breakfast at the Half Moon is 120b for a normal sized breakfast and 140b for the full monty including tea/coffee, orange juice, etc. The best value breakfast in Chiang Mai imho.

To answer the original poster, I think their price would need to come close to this - 160b max I reckon. As it gets closer to 200b I think a lot of people would be put off. I would anyway! Good luck with the venture though. I'd like to get my hands on some black pudding... mmm...

Have to agree the Half Moon brekkie is very good value and very tasty yum yum :o

  2. I ate at Miguel's Mexican Cafe last night and I have to say that it is the only Mexican restaurant in Asia where I ever am sure that I am eating real California style Mexican food. I love the place! :o

Have to agree, i ate there the other day for the first time, i will be back soon yum yum :D

  3. ahhh thank you but better not, cuz the more tough thing to get to join the party is asking mom's permission to go out with strangers at night lol

    ...

    but I'm thinking about this...

    thank you anyways

Tell mum not to worry and that Uncle Blinky Bill is old enough to be your (grand) father and will take good care of you. :o

Um, could you please PM a picture of your mum also.

Thanks BB just spat my coffee over the screen :D

  4. Another option for you is J & N Auto Service, Jimmy speak's excellent English (spent 15 years in the US) he does many of the repairs for the CM classic car guy's. It's located on the Chiang Mai-Lamphun road if you take the the super highway from the Airport plaza go past the Chiang Mai land turn off over the river take the next exit sign posted for Lamphun, Turn right onto the road (Adventure hotel is on your Right) go straight down this road you will see 7-11 and tesco on your left carry on for about 1/2 a kilometer and it is on the right there is a sign you can see from the road. his Phone number is 053801416 or Mbl 018852893.

Yes, I have had several repairs done very well at Jimmy's and I know several friends with European cars that always use him. However,my wife seems to think his prices are pretty steep and I guess they are compared to most Thai shops, However, the old cliche 'you get what you pay for' seems to kick in here.

Correct, but i found him pretty reasonable (maybe i get discount as i'm his neighbour :o )

Just seen this in the Chiang Mai mail

http://' target="_blank">World's largest jet to land in Chiang Mai

Superjumbo to arrive on Sept. 1 says Airport official

The Airbus A380 will embark on a world tour beginning next week and Chiang Mai is included in the itinerary as one of the five Asian airports that will host the mammoth plane.

Arriving first at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport on August 31st the A380 is then scheduled to
arrive in Chiang Mai on September 1st
according to the deputy chief of the Airport Authority of Thailand at Chiang Mai airport.

The flight, designated as test aircraft MSN 007 is equipped with a full passenger cabin with space for 520 passengers in three separate classes.

The demonstration tours are part of the extensive campaign to prepare the A380 for a smooth entry into service. Operating under typical airline conditions, the aircraft will undergo airport compatibility checks, ground handling and maintenance procedures to confirm its readiness to enter service.

The A380 has already visited more than 45 airports and by 2011, more than 70 airports will be ready for A380 operations.

According to Airbus, The A380 will provide more comfort in every class and more open space for relaxation than any other aircraft while benefiting from the quietest cabin in the sky. The aircrafts efficiency and advanced technologies will result in outstanding economics and higher operational flexibility as seat-mile costs are 20 percent lower and range 15 percent greater compared to today's existing large aircrafts.

Airbus says that per passenger, the A380 is as fuel efficient as a small economical family car. Requiring shorter runways for take off and landing, the A380 also provides vital extra passenger capacity without increasing the number of flights.

To date, total orders and commitments for the A380 are 173 by 14 customers. The first customer A380 will be delivered to Singapore Airlines on October 15.

Singapore's A380's inaugural flight has been scheduled for Oct. 25 to Sydney, the carrier said. The airline announced it will auction all seats on the first A380 flight on eBay and donate the proceeds to charities.

The "superjumbo" will depart Chiang Mai and fly to Hanoi, Hong Kong and Seoul ending its Asian tour on September 7th.

At press time, officials at the Chiang Mai airport were unable to provide the exact time of the landing or how long the A380 will remain on the ground

If an earthquake falls in a forest near SanSai, and nobody hears it, is there a noise?

  9. isnt it more like 2 or more people in the car can use the speed lane?.... the ones with the big dots ! i cant read thai but thats what i understood !

hhmmm not sure, will slow down next time and have a closer look, anyway it will be a non event either way as whos going to enforce it?

Had a look at the signs tonight, wifey tells me they basically say keep two dot's between vehicles, so i will do this, then have 3 vigo's and a Dmax jump in front of me before you can say keep your distance. :o

  10. I dont fancy upgrading to the Platinum package and getting the football with only Thai commentary. If thats the case I shall be looking at alternatives.

My understanding is that only the build up and HT chat will be Thai, the actual commentary will be from SKY.

  11. Please excuse my ignorance but what exactly are 'ribs'? Are they what an Australian would call 'chops' or are they just the bit of a chop that has the long bone?

  12. The farang royalty I'm sure will recommend Chiang Mai Ram or Suan Dawk. Not sure of the cost at those places, I'd be interested in hearing about it.

    Congrats on you upcoming arrival,

Hi "farang Royalty" here, my daughter was born in Chiang Mai Ram 14 months ago and i was very impressed with the service provided. The pre and post natel care was excellent, now for the price,I thought this was very reasonable at 30,000 baht for a C section delivery and 3 nights stay.

I'm sure you will have plenty of choices when you arrive in CM, just go with your gut feeling.

    All the best.

  13. I wonder if Buonissimo has been considered as a venue. Superb location on the Ping River, massive areas in and outside. Plenty of car parking..

Sounds like a good reason to get a recon together and check it out!!!!

One of the recon leaders is coming over to my place tonight so i will run it by him.

Love to help, but work calls and i will be away until August.

This is our Chiang Mai Special forces Re-con Elite Taskforce for Pissheads Brigade. (Or Dads Army for short)

    Before or after the recon?

its only possible for THEM to do it after the recon :D

Is that Star Six your reconning :o

  14. i had good luck with extra virgin coconut oil (it's clear rather than yellow-tinted). also, you may want to try "christine's beauty and relax" next to MD guesthouse on ratvithi rd in the future--they do an excellent job. oh, and so long as you don't wait too long after your first, brazilians do get much easier. cheers.

Thanks. I'll keep that one in mind.

    :o:D:D

    Thanks BB nearly wet myself
