  1. It seems the mechanism is already in place to simply change whatever laws and codes are being offended by the airport to bring it into compliance. Coin operated turnstile type fire exits instead of card locks would make possible an occaisional revenue squirt also. Keeping a currency exchange booth close by would assure smooth and orderly exits in the event of an emergecy.

  2. Now, now Ms Gorgon, keep your hair under your hat. Flamethrowing is not a registered Olympic sport anymore and went out centuries ago .Poor Terry is jesting, I'm sure.Strange how patriotic one becomes under the influence of LOS.Keep an impartial view at all times.Thailand still has much to learn.Oh and China is being advised by the Sydney Olympic Commitee.

    Sorry Terence.

    OLYMPICS?????

I like Thailand no doubt. But the Olympic committee may be reticent to consider a bid from them if they made one. I mean if it takes 40 years to build an airport that falls apart in the first 6 months, what luck would be expected building an Olympic complex on time. Who would want to sit in the stands?

  3. Thanks cdnvic, I'll try that.

    Cheers

I got frustrated by this message also. I found an error explaination in the youtube help area that said this message comes up when their servers were overloaded with traffic or something like that. So you probably don't have a problem on your end. Just growing pains on their end. I get flash player illegal op lock up crap when I'm using mozilla. Sent in the error report several times then finally deleted it and now I am getting requests to install it popping up. This stuff just reminds me I'm gettin' old.

  4. Lets not get carried away here.

This may all be just the brain child of some mid-level management team that thought of a way to have an expense paid sex holiday! Personal contact, no real commitment. Or perhaps IBM has some regionally targetted project that would benefit from the employment of resident skills and the attendant regional language pool to help achieve market acceptance and success. The IBM headquarters in Armonk NY are darn cold right now.

  5. jbowman, for the first time since I've been on TV, I agree with you 100%. Thank you for making your posts. Tropo, what are you on? Anything that happens in the bedroom of a married couple is OK? Rape isn't a physically (or mentally) violent act? Rape is "forcible or fraudulent sexual intercourse". Nobody, man or woman, should have to endure rape, even if they are married to the rapist (yes, strong, but isn't that the word for one who rapes?). Most rape victims have to endure their horrific ordeal once; if you are married to your abuser, you have to endure it whenever pleases them. You think that's OK? Systematic abuse by someone who is supposed to love you? Constant degradation that you cannot escape from & have no legal recourse against, thanks to some idiot lawmaker?

And saying that "now the woman can legally rape the man", so we're equal is OK? Well, that's a huge consolation. I somehow can't imagine a woman who is being raped by her husband wanting to take her revenge in that way. I can't imagine her wanting to be anywhere near him. I can't believe in the 21st century there are still people who think like you, Tropo. :o

November Rain, I have to agree with you. I was thinking that if I were a woman and my husband had aids and possibly unpopular at other sex venues, I would not want to have sex with him either. Even if he was just drunk and smelly and smacked me around just a little, I might not want to do my duty with him. To some guys that may seem kind of fussy though. Also, as far as men being raped in general, a dose of viagra slipped into their drink might set them up for an unpleasant experience. My guess is that there are not many Thai women involved in politics and the judiciary in Thailand. To bad.

  6. Have they considered the high budget to produce desalinated water? :o

It shouldn't be difficult. They coulld place generators over the water and harness sharks up to submerged shafts with some "you swimmy here" signs floating close by.Perhaps the unemployed elephants would lend a hand. With the price of sugar cane being down, alchohol comes to mind as a gen fuel with the possibility of decent rum production an added plus. How about a new air regulation that makes it manditory to bring in a pint of water for every pound of luggage brought in? Why rely on unstable oil prices.

  7. It just needs to be topped off. You do NOT have to bring in a fresh 800K baht every year. If just relying on bank account, the funds need to be there three months before application for extension, and also there at the actual application time. So for most people, that means topping off to a million baht, not 800K.
  8. Hi,

I was wondering if, when you have to show yearly funds status for the retirement visa, if your Thai bank account just needs to be topped up to the required amount or if they expect to see an entire new amount brought in on top of possible left overs?

I'm pretty sure you have to bring in the required amount every year before you renew your retirement visa for another year and that you must provide as part of your renewal application a statement from your bank that the money came in from overseas and is in your account.

But don't rely on what I am pretty sure is the case. There is a separate forum on Thai Forum for visa related issues. I recommend that you post your questions there.

    Thanks Rasseru,

I'll switch forums in a day or so and maybe in the meantime maybe someone has a comment on the YMCA Hotel as a base fpr 1-2 months

  9. Hi,

I was wondering if, when you have to show yearly funds status for the retirement visa, if your Thai bank account just needs to be topped up to the required amount or if they expect to see an entire new amount brought in on top of possible left overs? I hope this doesn't sound like to stupid a question but I was just wondering if any special Thai logic comes into play.

    ALSO:

The first four weeks I spent in CM were anchored at the Chiang Mai Gate Hotel which was fine except for the ever so faint, possibly sewer smell, that I almost go use to and the maid who decided I might be marriage material. I am looking at the monthly rate at the YMCA International which looks fine on the web for a 20-baht food stall kind of guy. Any bad reports?rolleyes.gif

    Thanks-GL
