I have been registered at Phyathai Hospital in Siracha for about 12 years, never had a problem with them and have used the system a few times.

There are buses depart daily from 3rd road direct to Kanchanaburi, as you head down 3rd road from North Pattaya just before you get to the junction of 3rd road and Central Pattaya road on the right there is a small office.

LETTER TO BRITISH COMMUNITY
CHANGES TO BRITISH PASSPORT SERVICES IN THAILAND
Her Majestys Passport Office is making important changes to the way it delivers British passports overseas. The goal is to ensure that all British nationals living overseas receive a consistent, trusted, secure and efficient service whilst keeping the costs as low as possible. In order to do that, on 10 December 2013, responsibility for handling passport applications in Thailand passed from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to Her Majestys Passport Office.
Following on from this, from 26 March 2014, British nationals in Thailand will submit passport applications, in person by appointment only, to the UK Visa Application Centre. All the information needed to complete the passport application process, including address and contact details for the UK Visa Application Centre, will be available on GOV.UK at https://www.gov.uk/overseas-passports
I know that this change will seem inconvenient, but the new measures being put in place support the wider public protection, helping to ensure that the risks of fraud and identity theft are minimised for those living and working overseas.
If you need to travel urgently but your passport is not available, you should still contact the nearest Consular Assistance team at the British Embassy Bangkok +66 2 305 8333 email: [email protected] In certain circumstances Consular staff may be able to issue an Emergency Travel Document but this is not a substitute for a full UK passport. So the best course of action is to apply as early as possible, and to make sure that you follow the new guidelines.
Please note that our Consular staff will not be able to take calls about individual passport applications and they cannot countersign passport applications. If you cannot find the information needed on GOV.UK you should contact the Passport Adviceline on +44 300 222 0000 (operates from 8am-8pm UK time) or e-mail: [email protected].

We are fast approaching the time we in the Royal British Legion call Remembrancetide, the time in the UK when you would see Poppy Sellers on street corners and outside shops. We cant do that here in Thailand but you will find Poppy Boxes in many of your favourite Bars and Restaurants, please donate and wear your Poppy with pride, we also have a Poppy Golf Tournament being held in Pattaya on Friday 8 November.
The Remembrance Sunday service this year will once again be held at the British Embassy commencing at 10.50am Sunday 10 November, to register for the Service and obtain more details please contact [email protected] . We will also be holding a service at Kanchanaburi War Graves (River Kwai) on Monday 11 November again at 10.50am, there will be a number of former Veterans who were POWs travelling from the UK for this service. This is an open service and you are more than welcome to join us and show your respect should you be in the area, why not make a Long Weekend of it and join us there, our Thailand Riders will also be there leaving Pattaya on Sunday 10 November.

I would agree with Restaurant101, we have only ever used MPC in Bangkok. To renew we deposit 3,745 Baht to their account (3 units) and receive the license Via EMS. Never had a problem with them, they even give you a letter oh how to deal with people saying they are copyright police!!

I worked on the Fishing Trawlers for over 20 years but had never heard of Pacific Dory, John Dory yes but Pacific No. I googled it and it appears it was a name given to Pangasius to make it sound better for the Australian Market, they also called it Bassa. Most restaurants here tend to call it Pacific Dory (me included), some even John Dory, I am now looking at other options, probably Pollock.

Just had CTH in and we went through Business prices, I thought it would be by the amount of tables but it was in fact screen size. Up to 32 inch 1,500 Per Month, 32" to 50" 2,500 per Month, 51" to 80" 3,500 Per Month, Projector 5,000 Per Month. Set up including Box and Dish 4,500, Premier League games with English commentary, price includes license fee. Home prices 899 Per Month and 3,500 set up, there are yearly options and other deals but the way I look at it is if True dump Football so can CTH next year.
Is that per actual screen in your place? I think you have at least 1 projector and 2 or 3 TV sets.
That would be painful. in my old place we had 3 projectors and two 32" flat screens.
That would work out to an astounding 18,000 Baht/month
No Monty just the one price for one box, I can then feed it to my other TV's

Thanks for the feedback and good comments on the Curry, as JoePai says the two previous Gurkha Curry Nights had been at Tropical Bert's but we were getting too small and decided to up the tickets and try Jameson's. It worked well and so far we have raised over 55,000 Baht for the Poppy Appeal from the night.
It's my fault that I did not promote it on Thai Visa and my apologies for that, I will ensure the next one is posted, perhaps at Remembrance Time. At 200 Baht a ticket for a variety of Curries and Dips all made by the Sgt Major and his team of Gurkha's from the British Embassy it's a great deal.
Watch this space for the next one.

Dear all,
Firstly many thanks for your comments, words of support and emails about my appointment as Honorary Consul for Pattaya, it certainly gives me a little more confidence.
I do feel I should correct some inaccuracies and misinformation that has been given out within this thread:
1. I joined the Army at 15 served 3 years as a Junior Guardsman followed by 9 years in the Coldstream Guards, not 22 years.
2. I reached the rank of Platoon Sergeant within those 9 years, not Lance Corporal.
3. With regards to comments about The Royal British Legion, we try to help all those who have served, are serving and/or their dependents that might approach us with a problem, this includes widows and children, 95% of those we help are not members of the Legion.
4. Our membership totals just over 300 of whom 75% are ex – servicemen and women spread throughout Thailand, we also have a Sub Branch in Chiang Mai.
5. Our Pattaya members (certainly not all) meet socially at Tropical Bert’s every Sunday from 2pm, I have never profited from this in that drinks are reduced, free food provided and of course members do not have to attend, we have meeting every 3 months, I recently asked at one of our meetings if we could change our social day to Saturdays as this would help my business (Sunday Lunches), the members did not like this so it remains on Sunday and I lose out on some Sunday Lunches, mainly due to poor renditions of “It’s a Long Way to Tipperary” and worst!.
6. The Royal British Legion have never been responsible for the Remembrance Service at the British Embassy, this is organised by the Embassy and rightly so.
7. Our Branch Chairman served 22 years in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers reaching the rank of WOI, to say he never served is as bad as saying I am someone who took 22 years to rise 1 rank!
8. The new Ambassador chose to attend the service in Kanchanaburi last year as it commemorated 70 years since work began on the Thai/Burma railway, this was the Ambassadors choice.
9. In 2011 the then Ambassador attended the Church Service in Pattaya as there were doubts as to if the service would go ahead in Bangkok due to floods. I arranged for a Muslim Poppy Wreath to be sent over for the Ambassador, he chose to lay a traditional one. I asked him if he had any choice about The Reading for the service, he had none. So as not to offend any faith I contacted the Royal British Legion Chaplin General for his advice, he sent me a Reading that he thought would be suitable and that was read without comment or complaint.
I could go on but I’m sure the majority have got the point, rather than give out false information from sources that are inaccurate how about letting me get on with the job and try and help those who might need it.
As regards my Consular role that is clearly laid out in the original post, I don’t even know myself yet how this position will work out, however given the chance I do promise to do the best I can, I hope the Mods will perhaps allow a pinned thread where I (and other Hon/Cons) can give out any Embassy updates, contact information and so on.
I do not intend to get involved in long debates about what I can or can’t do, Thai Visa is a great tool for the passage of information and that’s how I intend to use it.
Best wishes
Bert

For our main fund raising event last year the Royal British Legion Thailand held a number of Poppy Golf Tournaments around Thailand. This year to mark 70 years since the start of construction of the Thai Burma Railway we intend to Run (7 marathons in 7 days), Motorbike and Cycle the lenght of the railway from Three Pagodas Pass to the River Kwai.
The Runner leaves first followed by the Mountain Bikers and lastly the Motorbikes all meeting up at the River Kwai for a Remembrance Service on 11th November. We have sponsors (But will of course accept more!!) I have the runner, local MC Clubs are sorted but I dont have any good contacts for a group of Mountain Bikers (it's Hilly!). Anyone who runs a Cycling Club who could help please PM me, we would provide the logistics. Any Motorbike Riders who would like to join the Ride also please PM me.
Many thanks
