  1. There are buses depart daily from 3rd road direct to Kanchanaburi, as you head down 3rd road from North Pattaya just before you get to the junction of 3rd road and Central Pattaya road on the right there is a small office.

  5. LETTER TO BRITISH COMMUNITY

CHANGES TO BRITISH PASSPORT SERVICES IN THAILAND

Her Majestys Passport Office is making important changes to the way it delivers British passports overseas. The goal is to ensure that all British nationals living overseas receive a consistent, trusted, secure and efficient service whilst keeping the costs as low as possible. In order to do that, on 10 December 2013, responsibility for handling passport applications in Thailand passed from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to Her Majestys Passport Office.

Following on from this, from 26 March 2014, British nationals in Thailand will submit passport applications, in person by appointment only, to the UK Visa Application Centre. All the information needed to complete the passport application process, including address and contact details for the UK Visa Application Centre, will be available on GOV.UK at https://www.gov.uk/overseas-passports

I know that this change will seem inconvenient, but the new measures being put in place support the wider public protection, helping to ensure that the risks of fraud and identity theft are minimised for those living and working overseas.

If you need to travel urgently but your passport is not available, you should still contact the nearest Consular Assistance team at the British Embassy Bangkok +66 2 305 8333 email: [email protected] In certain circumstances Consular staff may be able to issue an Emergency Travel Document but this is not a substitute for a full UK passport. So the best course of action is to apply as early as possible, and to make sure that you follow the new guidelines.

Please note that our Consular staff will not be able to take calls about individual passport applications and they cannot countersign passport applications. If you cannot find the information needed on GOV.UK you should contact the Passport Adviceline on +44 300 222 0000 (operates from 8am-8pm UK time) or e-mail: [email protected].

  7. I worked on the Fishing Trawlers for over 20 years but had never heard of Pacific Dory, John Dory yes but Pacific No. I googled it and it appears it was a name given to Pangasius to make it sound better for the Australian Market, they also called it Bassa. Most restaurants here tend to call it Pacific Dory (me included), some even John Dory, I am now looking at other options, probably Pollock.

  8. Just had CTH in and we went through Business prices, I thought it would be by the amount of tables but it was in fact screen size. Up to 32 inch 1,500 Per Month, 32" to 50" 2,500 per Month, 51" to 80" 3,500 Per Month, Projector 5,000 Per Month. Set up including Box and Dish 4,500, Premier League games with English commentary, price includes license fee. Home prices 899 Per Month and 3,500 set up, there are yearly options and other deals but the way I look at it is if True dump Football so can CTH next year.

Is that per actual screen in your place? I think you have at least 1 projector and 2 or 3 TV sets.

That would be painful. in my old place we had 3 projectors and two 32" flat screens.

That would work out to an astounding 18,000 Baht/month blink.png

No Monty just the one price for one box, I can then feed it to my other TV's

  11. Thanks for the feedback and good comments on the Curry, as JoePai says the two previous Gurkha Curry Nights had been at Tropical Bert's but we were getting too small and decided to up the tickets and try Jameson's. It worked well and so far we have raised over 55,000 Baht for the Poppy Appeal from the night.

It's my fault that I did not promote it on Thai Visa and my apologies for that, I will ensure the next one is posted, perhaps at Remembrance Time. At 200 Baht a ticket for a variety of Curries and Dips all made by the Sgt Major and his team of Gurkha's from the British Embassy it's a great deal.

Watch this space for the next one.

  12. For our main fund raising event last year the Royal British Legion Thailand held a number of Poppy Golf Tournaments around Thailand. This year to mark 70 years since the start of construction of the Thai Burma Railway we intend to Run (7 marathons in 7 days), Motorbike and Cycle the lenght of the railway from Three Pagodas Pass to the River Kwai.

The Runner leaves first followed by the Mountain Bikers and lastly the Motorbikes all meeting up at the River Kwai for a Remembrance Service on 11th November. We have sponsors (But will of course accept more!!) I have the runner, local MC Clubs are sorted but I dont have any good contacts for a group of Mountain Bikers (it's Hilly!). Anyone who runs a Cycling Club who could help please PM me, we would provide the logistics. Any Motorbike Riders who would like to join the Ride also please PM me.

    Many thanks

    Bert
