  1. Hi

I have signed up to watch ITV ( UK ) channel 4 ( UK ) and i have user name for the new i Beeb service ( All the bbc channels LIVE and also backdated for 7 days )

Now the problem is that it states my IP address is outside the UK and i cannot watch

I had the same promeblem before for BBC Radio 1, but some way it works now

    Can any advise please?

    Thanks

    After spending 2 seconds looking on google, I came up with this;

"We do not hold international rights to all of our programming so video content is supplied only to users with IP addresses in the UK. Some users in Britain may be affected by such geographic blocking if their internet service provider uses servers outside the UK."

Below is a link to the site.

thanks, i had seen the same thing, but is there away for the server to think your IP address is coming from the UK? when in fact you are in thailand?

the beeb will block you if you try to cover your location even if you were in the UK they would block you if you dont have a real IP

  2. The ant bait in the photo is excellent , though it is in granules that are sometimes too big for the smallest ants.

Try Equal, you know the stuff you put in your coffee.

    Cheers

with ants no matter what system/poison you use the trick is to never leave them alone , keep harassing them, they are very smart , if the trouble of obtaining food does not equal lost ants and inconvenience they can work out it is not worth it to them and they will move on elsewhare , just never leave them alone keep bothering them and they will move out

  3. All this indecision about our lives does not suit my wife and I we have talked at Length over the last few days and we are not going to be held hostage to this possible decision one way or another or future changes, we will not have our lives decided in this arbitrary fashion so we have decided to move on to a place with a more reasoned attitude to immigration.

    Well said, Bill.

Best wishes to your family. I in a way, wish my wife was not Thai as making such a decision would be easier as I too am unhappy at the "Russian Roulette" system of Visa Rules and granting that has been happening in the last year or so (particularly) which seems to be accelerating for the worse.

Unfortunately, my wife is Thai with a son (not mine) and has family here. Uprooting my wife and my stepson would therefore have to be a last resort but I have told my wife I cannot see how I can now buy the house we planned getting as soon as my Spanish house sells, as I have responsibilities to keep my capital liquid with all that is going on. No good having to go in the (maybe near) future with 80% of my funds in a house I cannot sell.

If I may ask out of interest Bill, have you managed to decide yet where you plan to try and move to, or are you going home to your mother country (s)

    Kindest Regards, Dave

we have just started to look into it , but it will be Asia , definatly not 'back home' Phils looks interesting but crime is the big off putter there , Vietnam or even China are reasonably atractive but we have 6 months to decide , but we are definate staying is not an option, even if things change after elections the atmoshere is way different than it was even a year ago

  5. I am looking for some supplies to spruce up some large aquariums and set up a filter system on an existing koi pond. I had perused some older threads referring to some shops on Threpasit road but up and back down it today i couldn't find a single one.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for a shop that stocks these type of supplies?

one on south rd just past that huge new development on the left as you are leaving town maybe the biggest shop?, many small shops all over town cant think of any large ones

  6. as a visa holder can no longer have dependants I understand that a (farang) wife must get her own visa , but what if they have 2 farang kids say 14 and 16, I hear it is pretty easy to get a student visa , but what happens 3 or 4 years from now assuming the kids finnish their education, or perhaps the child finishes a year from now , they can no longer be dependant , they cant do entry level jobs what is their situation , just go back to a country they dont know, dont remember or have only spent the odd Christmas in the last 10 years? so does the whole family have to leave as the child becomes illegal?

  7. I am one of those who will be affected by this as I was planning to retire here in a couple of years with my farang wife, now that will have to be seriously re-considered, I am not one of these people who attack everything the Thai authorities do and can usualy see some kind of sense behind the thoughts , and I can even see some here but there seems to be a slow drip, drip, drip of changes that in the end will make it impracticle for many farangs to live here, each time they make these changes peoples thoughts seem to be ok I can live with this but what next? will I be able to deal with the next change? all this causes a lack of stability in farangs plans for buying condo's, bars, cars, retiring in Thailand and so on. And presumably big international business must also be looking at this in the same way. What next?

  8. I've always enjoyed Kohindoor Indian buffet on Pratamnack but closer to Walking across from The Bayoke hotel.

Is the buffet on at special times ?

What is the cost per person ?

    :o Wiley Coyote

The dinner buffet is on from 18:00-23:00. The cost is 160-180. The nan bread is fresh and delicious. There's many meat and veggy choices. Great aircon and very clean. Maybe they like my smile but I've been given a free ice cream cup each time I've gone. Free parking in The Bayoke hotel's parking lot.

I am not a fan of the buffet there I think its a pretty poor selection, but ordering off the menu is very good , they are very slow at bringing out the food but I look at that as a good sign that everything is made fresh.

  9. Anyone who thinks Bangkok is so bad has not flown into JFK New York, Miami , or London Heathrow, all these complaints about long immergration lines in Bangkok then you have not tried Miami's 1,2,3 hour wait's, I was in transit 3 years ago through Miami, 2 hours at immergration for transit, not to another US airport just international transit. Non nationals at these airports are often treated with a high amount of polite/ professional hostility, the tone of many of the posts here is that this sort of thing only happens in Thailand or the 'third world' its just the same for people from Thailand visiting our airports in the west, where every young woman from Thialand is seen as a bar girl trying to sneak into the country even if her husband or father or even she is an international banker. The airport is not functioning as it should but I think a little more equal comparison to 'our' airports might be more productive.

  10. there are lots of dog shops of pattaya 3rd below pattaya klang

There's the story I heard about a gentleman who left his dog at a pet shop while he was away from Pattaya. Came back and no dog. Pet shop said no problem he could have one free from them to make up for his loss. Be careful where you board your beloved pet.

I heard of someone leaving a dog at a pet shop (not one of those on 3rd) and when the guy came back they just denied ever having it
