He needed a new phone?  Where you there?  I say that because that was not mentioned in the OP and you seem to know more than the rest of us.

    I read  it wromg

Must have been driving  and reading

I thought it.said that he knocked his phone  from 11th floor but it said knocked  his iPhone 11 to the floor.

No i wasnt there  but  maybe  more to the story that whats there

If not then  he is a forang bully  picking  on a smaller thai and needs to be dealt  with  if not then would like to here what caused that  reaction

Either  he is a forang bully or maybe  there is more to it

    Not really a big  deal

This stuff happens all the time round  the world

"Related to influential local, needed money for football gambling debt,"

How can this be stated without an arrest etc? pure speculation ! and media hype.

"In one case a man in Chiang Mai had been wrongly identified as the robber causing him considerable trouble."

Exactly this was predicted and voiced in another topic regarding the reward announcement.

    Police were  tight  lipped

Which suggests  if they give away too much information  the killer could  use this  to get away

    Then again anything is possible

If he was in allotnof debt he could  have started by selling his gun rarther than killing  a 2 year old and more

I guess there is more to it than just a robbery

  3. He should  have got his friend to video the thai man asking him  to come  to the police station

Asked the friend  to take photo  of his ID card

If he refused to do so then would need tje help of his friend with the phone and a train security  guard to clear  situation

Problem is for short term tourists  they dont  know  how to take the right  step

    Then this happens.

If the thai man was sorry  he would jave gone to the polixe station and paid for the phone

A sorry  a word isn't  going the replace the phone

"A bank statement from a foreign  bank should be enough."

Of course, that's one out of two requirements you have to provide when applying for an O-A Visa. It can only be obtained in your home country. I guess this american didn't meet the financial requirements or we're missing some info.

Also as an American  surely he could prove  his income as has to submit  his tax every year to IRS

So IRS  should  be able to secure his incomes

You can get online statements  from online  banking

  6. There is no reason  for the baht to be so high. It has to crash at some point

Cost of living going up for thais also

    Less tourists

Means everybody shall be fighting for food and not spending money.

If the baht continues  to rise and minimum  wage keeps going up.

The end cost goes to the customer  which cannot afford items

If no one spends the baht has to crash

maybe could pinch in about their request to have 800K blocked at the bank, many of us are property owners, why not use the property as the collateral and allow us to use the cash for daily living expenses,

I reckon  a fixed savings account of 400 k would be sufficient and with ability  to withdraw interesr.

Also assets value 400 k shoukd also be considered.

You can use assets to get a loan so should be able to show assets to get a visa.

  8. If you work for an agency they should provide the papers to make a visa

    i mean a ligit agency

if you try to cut corners then you may find yourself in trouble

there are school where you can teach for 2 hours per day

the schools shall have experience with providing you with the right paper work as they have experience with all foreign teachers and students

I assume your telling the truth rather than some assuming your “ looking for a loop hole “

    all the best

  9. All visas and work permits need to be refized specially for expats supporting thai families

I don’t consider these people to be “bad  forangs”

people that have thai wife and kids and need to work to support them should find it easier to make make visas and work permits and possibly apply online so they don’t need to take time off work to do visa runs

i have seen people deported for not working with the right permit and few week overstay

problem is when work drys up things like visas and work permits start to eat away at your income which forces you to brake the law in order to feed yourself and in some cases 4 kids.

These se people are taking care of a thai family which is benifiting the Thais not hindering

Talk about bad planning.. i expect you to lose quite a bit on it. I am no expert but there are 2 prices one for buying and one for selling. I think the rates are fixed.

That’s right also the price in the shop is he cost of the gold not for the design

for example if you buy gold bars then that’s the value of the price in the shop

to buy a gold chain the buy price would be the value of gold thag day then a set smaller cost for the design

Should get quite a bit back though at least 90% of the value set at today’s gold price
