  1. I'm sure that all of these questions have been asked before but I find the search function on the forum to be confusing. If you could help I would be grateful.

    Documents to be submitted

    1. Application form TM.7 (application must be made in person)

    2. Copy of applicant’s passport

    3. Photo 4 x 6 cm. (not older than 6 months)

    4. Application fee 1,900 Baht

    1. How soon before my 'Admitted until' date can I extend? (Expires 13 Feb)

    2. On the TM.7 it asks for a reason for extension, is 'TOURISM' enough or do I need to be more specific about what/where I'm touring?

    3. I'm in Bangkok, is this where I need to go?

The Govenment Complex Commemorating His Majesty , B Building , Floor 2 (South Zone)

    Chaengwattana Road (Soi 7) , Laksi , Bangkok 10210

    4. Do I need to copy all pages of my passport?

    5. I will have a flight out of the country before the extension period ends. Will this be required when I apply?

    Many thanks

    Colin

  2. Does anyone know of, and more importantly recommend, a short term boarding kennel for a dog in Bangkok? The better half and I have to leave the city for 3 days to go up north so I need someone to look after the dog. She's only a puppy (18weeks approx). A friend has offered to dog-sit for us but they are at work for 8/9 hours a day and we've never left the dog that long yet and not keen on doing so. We have to fly because of time constraints, I sure I the dog could fly also but I think she'll be very scared and I'd worry to much about how she'd cope.

    Price is of no importance.

    Thanks in advance.

  3. Does anyone have any tips on house training?

I have a husky puppy (14 weeks approx), when she wants to 'go' she runs to the door, then to someone, whines a little then back to the door. The problem arises when we are asleep. Before she would wake-up and play, this would be noisy enough for 1 of us to wake up and let her go outside. Recently either we're not waking up or she is quieter. I'm under the impression unless you see the dog do something wrong scolding her is pointless as she won't know why we're angry and the 'rubbing her nose in it' I think is wrong and would be very surprised if it worked.

When everyone's up and she runs to the door we usually go outside quickly, would it be a good idea to wait a little and try to get her to learn to wait. Maybe this way she would learn some control.

    Thanks for any help

  4. Hi,

We've recently acquired a husky puppy so would be interested in any tips, any topic, specific to that breed. I assume your dog was gassed for the neutering. Someone said to my other half that husky's shouldn't/can't be gassed. I scoured the internet and found nothing to back that statement up. Sounded strange to me.

Are husky's natural friendly dogs? I've always had German Shepherds before and they've been friendly to family and regular visitors but wary of strangers. My puppy seems to love everyone.

My wife read the op and wanted me to ask, what sort of fish do you feed your dog?

    Thanks in advance

  5. Both my Grandfathers were serving in Singapore when it fell. Officially 15 Feb 1942.

1 (Arthur Pryke RIP) spent time in Changi before being moved to a Japanese camp in Taiwan (http://www.powtaiwan.org/).

The other (Mike Pledge B.E.M.) was unfortunately kept at changi for a long period before being moved into the camps in Thailand to work on the railway, which included helping with the bridges over the river.

He was awarded the B.E.M. (British Empire Medal, given to non-english forces for 'meritorious military service worthy of recognition', he is Irish). After the war he spent literally years going back and forth to military hospitals and still wears a neck brace due to being 'strung-up' by the neck for days, and I do mean days, on end.

He holds no grudge against the Japanese. He always said to me that the Allied force in the war and in previous wars wasn't a 'friendly' force.

  6. I would have thought the appropriate thing would be to say " Do you mind if I pack the remainder as I don't like to waste food " or something along those lines. Your friends will probably say "of course we don't mind".

If someone has been kind enough to pay for your meal they will not be interested in the '2 meals' scenario only that you enjoyed the meal.

    This is only my opinion.

  7. I'm looking at buying 1 of the above but am not technologically savvy.

What's the difference between a netbook and laptop.

What I'm looking for is a small (priority) mobile device which I can connect to the internet while out and about, and use Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel etc.). I would also like to be able to download my pictures from my camera to it (not looking at editing the images).

Are netbooks much smaller than laptops?

Are you able to install software onto a netbook?

    Thanks for your help.

(maybe should be posted in 'Mobile Devices' if so, mods feel free to move)

  8. The BBC did a spin-off with Boyce'y & Marlene from Only Fools & Horses called 'The Green Green Grass'. Never seen it but people I work with enjoy it.

Programmes like In-betweeners and Skins aren't so popular with the older generation (I'm early 30's).

My fave = The Mighty Boosh - you either love it or loathe it.

Also 'Early Doors' would be worth a look

    Cheers

  9. I'm planning ahead for a visit to Nan with a friend. A Thai national. I have looked into flights (which are costly but time-saving), does a Thai national require a passport for domestic flights? Or is it enough just to have an ID card?

Also, what are the visa requirements for a Thai national regarding visiting Myanmar (Burma)?

Is it possible for a Thai to cross into Myanmar without a passport?

    Thanks for nay help.

  10. I'm trying to find a rough price of flights to Nan from BKK. I've tried searching the internet, looking on the websites of the airlines who say they fly there but no joy.

Can someone point me in the right direction.

    Cheers

  11. I met my girlfriend in Hua-Hin in August when I visited for a couple of weeks, we kept in contact via phone and email and I went back to see her in december (actually posting this from Kuwait airport on way home). We're now engaged and thought she should come to England hopefully towards the end of April for 2 weeks maybe if possible a month (depending on her work). As eventually when/if we marry I want to stay in blighty.

I've read alot of posts on this site about visa's and have read the government websites and all the applications/checklists and have a couple of questions:

Should we apply for a visitor visa or fiance(settlement) visa?

Is 1 easier to get, or apply for then the other ?

If I go the fiance route I've noticed there are law firms which can help is this the way to go?

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.
