Over the years I've been in two accidents, first one driving a motorbike, another driving a car. Both times a motorbike tried to overtake right side when I was turning right. Over the years, I have had two accidents, the first on a motorcycle and the second on a car. On both occasions, the motorcycle tried to pass from the right as I turned right.

This risk of death in most countries is around 1%, the risk of 'long COVID' is significantly higher at maybe 5%. COVID was first classified as a respiratory virus, but the medical community now thinks this may have been an incorrect classification that it should really be classified as a cardio-vascular virus (the reason why we have more varied symptoms). I won't have anything to complain about if I die, but I really don't want to be stuck with 'long COVID'. A vaccination lowers the risk of catching it (it does not prevent it, it readies your body to fight it once you get infected as with all vaccines -- basically it is an attempt to prevent a foothold situation). If you do unfortunately 'catch it' it significantly reduces the severity and risk of hospitalization - and the 'long COVID' potential... Vaccination (which I have received fully vaccinated as of 2.5 months ago, and I will get a booster in maybe March 31st next year) is one of many things that you can do to reduce your risks (wearing a mask reduces your chances of spreading it if you do catch it; and others wearing a mask will in turn reduce the chance of someone else spreading it to you -- is another)....
Vaccines are probably one of the major reasons why the average lifespan has nearly doubled over the last century... no guarantees, but it raises the chances you will lead a longer life with less health issues... so I find this antivaxxer crowd to be .... silly.
Lethal for around 1% of infected, and there is few percent of population who are infected, so far. Not in one year as they usually count things, but in two years, from day one. Everywhere like that. And everywhere they are telling that with omicron higher infection rate, less hospitalization. Regardless of headlines telling us horror stories and officials predict worst case scenarios, every freckin single day. Two years already, 24/7.

Hardly any person under the age of 60 in normal condition has so far contracted a serious illness due to omicron. The risk has been small throughout the epidemic, and now so negligible that cannot understand this endless vaxxine scheisse, and people still living in deep fear after two years of..., in fact could ask after what.

This would be a improvement, from my country in Scandinavia we get only single entry 60 days or multi entry 6 months. Also, for 60 days there is nowadays same requirements than in 6 month visa, if you entered Thailand once or twice ongoing year already. Meaning 6000 € balance for 6 months etc...

Once there the europeans who flooded Pattaya, then there were those Russians, than came the Chinese and now the Indians, as Thailand is desperate for those tourist's dollars, i wonder who's going to be next...
Bangladeshis? Malawis? They probably think that countries around Thailand are there only for cheaper labor, maybe that's why they never celebrate "flooding Burmese"...

I thought my reply was for a remark on the internet banking
So? Still, using app otp no needed...
-
don't know about other banks, but with kbank you get an otp for any money transaction you make unless it's between your own accounts
With (new) app only password needed, otp when transfering money using internet bank.

One more time: I'm not in Thailand. And my dtac sim in the my current country doesn't work. That's it. I can't receive otp and I can't activate my app.
Then I think you can't start using app, before next time in Thailand. Wifi use have to be activated using your Thai number, and even if it worked in your country, app recognizes it as wifi and you can't log in.

Ok. But.... in my current country dtac sim-card don't work at all. Thus I can't never use it, nor activate the app.
Other options?
You have to activate wifi use in app, when in Thailand, using your Thai number registered in bank. Wifi use have to be renewed every 90 days.

In what time a change of ownership has to be done? Probably going to buy a car next weekend (from other province), but unexpectedly, due to work I might have to leave country right in the beginning of the next week, for a six...seven weeks.
Planned to go to make the deal on Friday, but not sure if it has to be postponed to Saturday. Do DLT's usually operate every day, or are they closed on weekends? -

Do not be mistaken about newmotors in Thailand and red plates if you want them, with old motors in Thailand all OP needs is CTPl to go on with what he wants to do.
Yes, I know that "Thai red plates" are not for the same, they are provided for use until you get yours when buying new vehicle.
Thanks for all for answering, probably know how to proceed if/when will make a deal... -
Hi, planning to buy an older car, many of them has plates and usually blue book also, and they are drivable.
If tax and insurance, are not up to date, is it possible move the vehicle driving it? In my home country we have "transfer plates" you can get for moving the vehicle, and for that time you get insurance also.
In Thailand?

Had my driving licenses for about 11 years (1+5+5), have to renew them after couple of months when get back to Thailand. Problem is that these days I travel with tourist visa. Does that mean that by the rules get only 2 years licenses this time?

I've missed something or just false info in different sources. Saw statistics at last Songkran, and death toll was not more than average annually. So, what's this talk of "carnage" is all about, every year same sh*t?

What? i cannot believe they have left out Wichianburi, in Phetchabun province.
There are at least 3 farang bars in town, which does not have a double lane main highway through it [one of the few],there is the river to look at,rice fields, tree's ,a couple of hills, and soon a big c on the outskirts!!
As the Bush tucker man said in that add for Foster's years ago when he surveys the Kimberely ranges from atop a mesa, while cracking a cold one "it doesn't get much better than this".
Rice fields? I visit regularly Phutoey just in neighborhoods, and there is only sugar fields. And not even one farang bar

How come I can't see any doubled prices, that way they have been in Pattaya years already.
As there has been this or very similar "price list" on the wall of police station, Soi 9, years too.

Years ago was in accident exactly like this, only difference is I was turning right when motorbike tried to bypass at relative high speed. He flew over the hood with his motorbike, and I thought that now it happened, probably dead Thai and I'm in deeep s*it.
But, luckily nothing. Not even visible scratch in his bike, just a little dirty clothes, no blood, even a drop, and nothing broken (they landed motorbike on top!). Only damages was in my pickup.
Of course family came and started to claim money, police came....
Long story short; first thing on station he got ticket due to driving with no driving license, and after paperwork something more to pay, and we signed documents and just took my car to shop for repairing side mirror that was broken, some paint work etc, insurance company paid all.

Funny how everyone says they drink so little in Thailand? Look around Pattaya. It looks like most (>50%) of retirees seem to drink everyday.
And others keep telling in every turn that that they don't drink at all, and you shouldn't either ?

Used über several times, so far in Bangkok and Tallinn only, and grab just once, in Pattaya. Had not any bad experience.
Also, once über charged a little too much, don't remember details but talking about 30 baht or something. Reporting is made easy, so did it, and they fixed that without delay before charging my card.

Thanks - hope you can be back here tomorrow and share your experience?
First ride done with Pattaya grabcar, from Jomtien to Sukhumvit a little further from North Road. Worked fine, fee 200 baht as app said in advance. No, didn't use GPS this time, probably because of straight route by main road.
-
Used Uber few times in Bangkok, works almost perfectly. They use GPS to pick you up and to show the route to destination.
Tomorrow will try grabtaxi, my first time in Pattaya, hope it will be same experience...
