  1. For what it is worth I was told for a US tax deduction a social security number is required. My wife has no desire to travel to the States and i am very happy here.

If u discover a tax deduction is possible please let me know.

Once again all the best with your plans.

  2. Looks as if u have been doing home work, i want to start by saying i have lived here for nearly 6 years and will diee here, my wife is Khmer from Issan and is wonderful. I consider myself to be the luckest man alive, i do love Thailand.

IMHO u are way off, it is possible to live in Thailand on 60 K a month but u will not be happy. I do not believe that would be an adequate amount for u, a wife, children and to help the parents.

A factor i believe most Forangs overlook is : An Issan woman marries to improve her live as most women the world over do, u must factor in for her. Land in the form of rice paddies will not make a profit but women desire it for security. Gold is extermely important in the Khmer culture. nice clothing is as important to most as well only many can not afford it.

All too often if the girl can not obtain what she wants from her Forang husband she will find it in another house. the villages are all having empty homes where a Forang lived.

Life in the boondocks has been great for me. it is not my intention to say do not live here, i really is much less expensive than the States but it is still expensive than most realize.

Good Luck and enjoy your life.

  3. My daughter 38 Y/O has been over twice for short visits and after each visit we both agree that we needed more quality time alone and yet when she arrived we spend way too much time doing to looking thing like seeing the sights.

Spend time alone just talking u will not regret it. :)

  4. U have been living with a Thai lady for 18 months and giving her 5K sor living expensesand now want to explore other Thai ladies and have discovered your friend is not friendly if u do not pay her the 5k a month. Her history does not really matter, no reason to mention her live prior to meeting u unless u care to discuss your history. Do u really consider 18 months a long term relationship?

You rent your house, have a truck and motor bike but have u given your friend any thing excrpt the 5K a month?

Just why do u think she is with u? I really doubt it is because u are a super stud but because she wants a better life no other reason.

The world or Thailand owes u nothing!

Two rules of life for men regardless of where u live.

    1. spend no more than u can afford and or walk away from.

    2. women will love u as along as they receive something in return.

Now the above is only MHO and I have been wrong in the past once or twice..

  5. I am looking for a new camera, i just do a lot of picture taking and becoming tired of the small pocket camera.

Did u pick it up at Pan Tip?

Pentex is an excellent camera i had one many years back.

  6. I was told it is not possible to do direct deposits for Social Security to Thai Banks. Have seen or read nothing different, guess u could deposit other retirement fund??

Do u mean to have retirement deposited to Bof A then transfer to Bangkok Bank? For some reason I have had problems with Bangkok Bank in that I could not open an account in my name with out a work permit, perhaps they are more friendly now

  7. If u have been with your Lady for a while u must have had a village party and know they can be expensive. If u do not want to spend money do not have a party and just go to Vegas for the wedding.

A village wedding is a party to celebrate the wedding, spend what u can afford, if u can not afford a party do not have one,

If u want a small party tell your Lady. You set the limits on any and everything u will spend money for and on, the rule of thumb is spend no more than u can stand to walk away from.

Weddings the world over can be very expensive, if u have an open ATM even more so, decide in advanceme how much to spend.

A good life is available in Thailand but it is not free and or cheap.

  8. If you are buying Ron...I'll be there as well :)

And being as you started this topic.... you can buy the pizza as well :D

Can I bring the family :D

I will be happy to buy But only October 12,2009!

    Ron

heck i just remembered, Muang Pizza is closed on the 12 Oct, perhaps another sweetest day. :D

  9. I discovered a great new resturant, to me. in Buriram yesterday.

The old Be My Guest has changed hands a couple of times and is now MUANG PIZZA modern fixtures and a new menu. I only had pizza and my wife had beef lasagna. I enjoy thin Pizza and the Buriram pizza was outstanding the best i have had in several years the lasagna was fresh made to order and excellent as well. They have a garlic spread made fresh daily served with very good french bread.

Pizza, Pasta, steak and Thail food are available as well. Prices seem reasonable.

If other food is as excellent as the Pizza and Lasagna it will become number one fro the area. :)

  10. I may be wrong but I believe a Forang has little if any legal rights in Thailand, I have consulted a Thai lawyer becaose my legally married wife, who changed her ID has a 19 y/o son and if my wife would die he would receive everything and me NOTHING, Chances are my wife will not die first but what if??

We purchased some farm land a while back and I had to sign a paper in the land office stating funds to purchase the land was not from me.

Point being a Thai lawyer said i have NO survival rights and the land court will not allow a forang any land purchase.

We had purchased a Condo in Bangkok and that was in both names.

like i mentioned do not believe any common beliefs!
