  1. BM / Merc owners:

Anybody tried an engine management upgrade as advertised by VRA motors in the Post, Motoring Section?

I wondered if there were any reliabilty issues or other dramas after the upgrade?

Anyone really happy with the work done?

I'm not willing to try until I find out if they REALLY know what they are doing.

    Cheers

  2. The wife and I did one of the dinner / entertainment cruises whilst in BKK a few months ago. The buffet dinner was good. There was some traditional Thai dancing and then a diso. All in all a very good night and something Im sure your friends will enjoy. :o
  3. G'day,

A friend and his Mrs. are arriving from the UK soon and have seen on a travel show that thai meals can be taken on boats that cruise up and down the river.

Living in CMai I know nothing about BKK, can anybody tell me where these trips depart from and how to book them?

    Cheers

  4. Dunno how many of you guys out there have dual citizenship of Western countries and have been uisng both the passports either alternately or 6 monthly in order to get visa on entry without the need for a non-imm visa.

I was doing just that until recently, however, when I left BKK a month ago the immigration officer picked up on the fact and I was questioned at length about entering and leaving the country at different times with different passports. :o

Thought I would be able to get away without a non-imm visa but it looks like the Imm Dept have got their act together on this now.

So anybody still using two passports to enter Thailand with the visa on arrival in the hope of not getting pinched be careful.

    I've got myself a non-imm visa now

  5. I don't feel CM Ram is particularly expensive, it's true they do dispense a fair amount of medication for, say, flu symptons, but most clinics in Thailand work in the same way. It seems to be the Thai way, if in doubt take medicine and plenty of it!

Bear in mind a lot of Thai's are hypochondriacs and will visit the quack for the slightest ailment and expect to be loaded up by the doc on leaving surgery.

I had an operation performed by Dr Preecha on a badly broken wrist suffered riding my motocross bike. The wrist required pinning in 5 places and I opted for the general anesthetic as opposed to the nerve blocker and everything was explained to me upfront. Price 22,000baht. This included an overnight stay, numerous x-rays from various angles and various drugs to reduce pain / swelling etc. Also went back to see him every 2 weeks for 2 months until the splint was removed.

I have no complaints whatsoever and now a couple of years later the wrist is still perfect.

  6. should not the deal have been that he would be allowed back in with an expire date that matches his current one ?

thus negating the visa run ...................................

anyway , kudos mr immigration man

Other people have reported getting a 4th stamp and getting over the 90 days allowed, maybe he thought he could do the same, or he just didnt know.

But yes, they should of allowed him the option of leaving and getting the same date admitted untill when he returned. I guess immigration assumed he was on a visa run to only get another 30 days and thought that they would be kind enough to advice him not to leave as he would not be allwed back in without a tourist visa. Whatever the case, the rule states 90 days not 3 entries, so yes, he should of been able to leave and get stamped in for afew days upon return.

If this continues to happen, I wonder how this will affect the people do do regular trips or weekly border crossings there that only spend afew days in Thailand each time. Hopefully some one who crosses the border every week wont be not allowed to enter after their 3rd free entry, this would be ridiculous.............

If you check the following website http:/www.thaiconsul-uk.com/visas1.asp it clearly states in bold under the "Visa Exemption Rule" that quote "please note that 3 entries (maxiumum) are allowed within any 6 month period under this rule"

Also it states that it is not possible to re-enter Thailand after a period of three, 30 days stays within 6 months until a further 90 days have past if the applicant has no visa!

  7. Evening all,

With regard to the new immigration rules my 90 days in Thailand will be up at the end of March so what happens then?

If I leave Thailand on 30 March will I be able to re-enter on 1st April with a clean slate and use 3 more 30 day tourist visas in the upcoming 180 days? If so could I continue to use the 90 days in 180 days system ad infinitum without needing a visa?

Or will I need a visa issued at an overseas embassy to re-enter once my 90 days are up on 30 March?

There seems to be a mass of conflicting info from both the Imm Office and the Expats.

    Appreciate any feedback.
