Yep read it already. I am just unsure if Thai language is a must have? And how good do I need to be?
Also, Once you have resisdency, do you have to work in order to stay? At the moment i work for the permit and visa but would really love to just stay here and do voluntary work? Can I do this with reisdency?

Hi, I am a teacher who would like to apply for permanent residency. I earn no more than 60k p/month and am only 22 years old, have the 3 extentions of nonB visa, volunteer at an orphanage etc etc. I think i meet evey requirement, but do i need to speak fluent Thai? I speak basic thai, can hold a conversation but wouldn't know any vocab regarding visa etc, only family, home, work - the normal everyday langauge. And I cannot read Thai. Will this be a problem?
Will anything else be a problem for me? my age? Salary?
Any help, or suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hey all. Can anyone suggest a cheap place to stay in Kanchanaburi? I've never been before and would like somewhere peaceful and cheap for possibly a month or so. I'm a budget traveller, don't need all the fancy trimmings or even air con . It's just a place to stay while waiting for my husband's visa to oz so we can escape Bangkok for a while.
Thanks
If you want somewhere in Kanchanaburi town, ploy guesthouse is really nice for about 600 baht per night. there are cheaper options like apple guest house but ply is really peaceful and chilled out.

Hi, I have been looking into moving to Pattaya and possibly keep working in Bangkok.
Does anyone else do this? How long does it take to drive to Bangkok, Ekkamai, in your own car? Is it possible to commute? I would love to hear any info and stories of other people doing it?
Thanks

Hey This question still stands.......
I know nothing about Songkran. I would love to go for s day but do not want to go and miss the fun if i go on the wrong day. Which day should i go? The 13th is a Sunday, will they celerbate on the 12th on the saturday too, or do they just celebrate on the actual dates of songkran?

WOW! Koh Man Nok looks absolutely heavenly - unfortunately I can't really afford the private resorts, but i will definitely keep it in mind for the future
-
Ok - so you are all saying no to Koh Samet? Where else then? What about Koh Sichang, anyone been there? Is that tropical paradise too?
-
Can anyone recommend a quiet beach in Koh Samet? I am looking for secluded with palm trees and a beautiful clear ocean? Or on any other island, but no further away from Bangkok.
If you know of the right beach, how about accommodation? Best bungalows? between 500-1000 baht?
All your help is appreciated. Thanks.

I am thinking of heading to Aytthaya for Songkran this year as my sister is visiting and it would kill 2 birds with one stone.
Anyone know when the festival begins there? And which day would be best to go? Not so interested in the rituals but the water fight and processions sound like fun! I just can't find a date to go, and is it best to go on the first, middle or last day??? I have no idea
OR, anyone suggest another location? Nearish to Bangkok where we can stay here or go for a night or two?
Thanks,
Emily

Thanks everyone! I'm checking it all out now - unfortunately she really cant be flexable with the dates because of work, so it must be Apirl 3rd or 4th, and back on 19th ish, she obviously wants the longest trip possible, some are cheaper but a cut a few days either end ehich is no good.

Hey everyone, I am in need of a little help.
My sister is coming to visit us at the beginning of April - a bad time we now realise because of Songkran and the flight prices are higher.
Anyone know of any good, cheap travel agents in the UK where she can still buy a cheapish flight from London to Bangkok???? Really appreciate any thoughts
Thanks, as always!

What about cheaper options? I'm keen to go out for Christmas lunch or dinner but only for 1000 baht or less. Any ideas? I don't have to go on Christmas Day either, Christmas eve or other days are ok?

I work as a teacher here in Bangkok, and I am British. My husaband has a non O as a dependant, he and his mother are from New Zealand. My mother in law (nearly 60 years old) would like to come and live here with us because she is getting old and needs us. Can she get any kind of visa through me? the fact that i work here?
Or if not, what would anyone suggest? She does not have alot of money so cannot do the retirement visa. Can we promise our income as her support? She has lived in Thailand before for some time too.
Any thoughts or knowledge appreciated - Thanks

Wow! Thanks everyone for your ideas and advice. We will probably ask some people at our local food area. It was great to hear what kind of prices to pay though, we didn't really have any idea It's always great to hear from people who have done it before. Thanks!

Where To Buy A Portable Smoothie Maker?
in General Topics
Posted
I want to buy one of those blenders where the jug becomes a portable cup to take with you. Like The Magic Bullet / Kenwood Smoothie maker to go / Shake and Take
It means I can make a smoothie in the morning, just unscrew the jug and go, no washing up and no extra cup.
Does anyone know of anywhere in Bangkok or Thailand where I can but such a smoothie maker or blender?
thanks for your help
