If you do not want deal with the insurance and applying for the non-o visa you could enter visa exempt to get a 30 day stay and then apply for the non-o visa at immigration and then the one year extension near the end of the 90 day stay it allows. Info here: https://www.immigration.go.th/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/9.FOR-RETIREMENT-PURPOSES-50-YEARS-OLD-NON-O.pdf Hi everyone, I'm currently on an OA-retirement visa. So I'm assuming I that I can use the requirements/instructions provided in the linked pdf (9.FOR-RETIREMENT-PURPOSES-50-YEARS-OLD-NON-O.pdf) to change to a retirement O Visa, simply by: -leaving thailand, before my OA Visa expires - returning on a 30 transit visa with my Canadian passport - go directly to immigration to apply for the 90 day Non O Visa - then extend for 1 year, before the 90 day visa expires... & In future, simply extend another year of still in thailand . correct? -
Is it possible to apply for a Covid extension Visa before an OA Visa extension is about to expire? It's something I'm considering, as I may not want a full year stay in Thailand considering the way things are heading. Alternately, could phuket immigration then consider letting ex-OA Visa holder who switched to the covid extension, then apply for an O Visa for retirement inside of thailand, without exiting the country?

I just had an insurance agent offer me probably the same insurance package, as it was also 6,000 baht.... and only meet the 400/40 k insurance requirement. Of course they wrote that if it cannot be used to extend the OA Visa, they are not liable, and no refund is available... Even though I specifically requested quotes, so that I could extend my OA Visa in Thailand. Anyone here managed to switch from an extended OA Visa, to a covid extension Visa? As I'm honestly not sure how long I need to stay in Thailand, or want to stay in Thailand with this ridiculous insurance requirement!!!

O-A visa extension medical insurance

And what specifically are the health insurance requirements, in order to extend an OA Visa, at the Phuket immigration office? I was there today, and was shown this handwritten list of requirements, by the student helper who was speaking with the staff inside at the immigration office desk (see attached image). However, she was not able to tell me what the health insurance requirements figures were specifically... !?!?! Can anyone here quite us on the specific figures please? Or better yet, provide a link, to an official Thai immigration page that details the requirements... Or is that impossible to find on the great world wide web? ???? -
Hi Retirees, I went to Phuket immigration today to inquire about extending my OA Visa. The student who was helping at the office, and speaking with staff inside the office, showed me this handwritten set of requirements. However, when I asked her what specifically are the health insurance requirements, all 3 of the staff there could not give me an answer... ????... They would just keep repeating that I need health insurance. At one point, one of the girls said any health insurance... !?!?! So I'm here to try to find out exactly what are the minimum requirements? Has anyone found this out & extended successfully? The link here technically is for (NEW) OA VISA APPLICATIONS... Not stated for OA VISA EXTENSION...Please comment if this is incorrect... Thanks in advance...

I extended last year 2020 in Dec... At the time, an insurance policy was needed to apply for the extension of my retirement Visa.... which cost me about 13K ฿... Is this insurance policy still required at this date for retirement visa extension? I'm also considering to go off the retirement Visa extension, and INSTEAD, apply for the CoVid EXTENSION visa... considering the cost of the: - retirement Visa 1900฿ - 800k in the bank, and - 13K for price of insurance policy ...versus the CoVid extension for 60 days until end of January seems to be a much lower cost (1900x6 = 11400 for 1 year)... granted at the hassle of having to renew every 60 days... Is it even possible to change from a retirement extension to a covid extension? In my case, I'm also not sure if I plan to stay the full year in Thailand. Though I might. Depends on covid restrictions and regulations. what's everyone's thought on this? what do you think are the advantages and disadvantages?
