both main and sub are grounded to rods
not sure if turning off sub panel-haven't tried yet
as both wires are identical-theirs a chance they are reversed at sub panel
how would i go about checking polarity?
i'll take some pix

No-sorrry
2 aluminum wires-heavy gauge
similar to main house leads from pole/meter
installed second ground just for sub-panel rather than run from main

Hi
I just installed a sub-panel in our guest house to handle increased electric usage ( mostly the air con)
Connected the wire between the main shut off and the house panel and ran to sub-panel in the guest house and installed a ground out there
Now the florescent and LED lights in the main house are all "ghost lights" -they always have a glow at night
Also seem to have a really high elect bill now-almost double
Any idea whats causing this and a recommended fix?

Started off like you-couldn't get "real" bacon or ham back then
Then graduated to sausage making and smoke curing meats
Built a cold smoker and used coconut chips and fruit wood for a all-day smoke
Led the way to smoked fish/smoked turkey and smoked cheese

Far North ,near Mae Sai the mail is still being delivered regularly , but outgoing mail is now a problem
They wouldn't even accept regular international letters, ONLY registered , and delivery outside Thailand is real slow for any mail
What they allow for outgoing international mail seems to change "at there discretion" , which usually means more expensive
Looking at months instead of days or weeks for delivery outgoing
Strangely incoming parcels seem to arrive in a timely fashion

I've installed second roofs successfully and they work well at reducing heat
Just look at the multiple roof construction on most Watts. Built to vent heat
Even used that second roof construction in Canada to stop ice dams
Also reduced heat gain in the summer

How can anyone say that songkran didn't increase rural infections?
Up north of Chiang Rai the number of infected took a dramatic jump after the holidays with local infections being reported all round us
A really dramatic difference from prior to the holidays

Wait till dark when there all quiet in the nest then just cover with a plastic bag
Close it tight and burn it-or just relocate them far away
After all they DO serve a purpose

Burying 1 meter at a go will stress them for sure
Why not just build a block or woven bamboo surround around them then gradually raise the level
Ideally with leaf compost and fertilizer
Did that here successfully

Been using borax/sugar mix for years to combat ants and cockroaches
Whenever I see them in the house I just mix with water and bait the little buggers
Works every time and safe to use

Have 2 different dehydrators for use in wet season
Use them regularly for fruit, veg and meat
In dry season hardly use at all Much easier to just air dry or sun dry depending on what were drying
Built a passive solar dehydrator but found it was only useful in the dry season,so sort of defeats the purpose

No kidding-overpriced coffee in Thailand
You can buy Doi Chang coffee in Canada for 1/2 the cost compared to what they sell for up on Doi Chang mountain-at the source
Wonder how they can ship coffee half way round the world at 1/2 the price

Agreed- Warranty's are useless here
Bought a new Siemens electric oven from a major distributor
Within the first month the timer/display went bad,a pretty major loss of function.
Neither the distributor nor the manufacturer would do anything to repair it.
Went all the way to the top with Siemens and they wouldn't even offer a replacement part.
NEVER buy there products, and been sure to direct others away from there questionable business practices

Plant shade trees NOW=something fast growing like tagop.
Choose a method of shading the south walls, like bigger eaves or an outer wall,Even shade cloth will help
Be sure theres adequate roof ventilation and attic insulation
A water sprinkler on the roof for those real hot days will reduce inside temp by 5" or more.Helps to wet the walls as well
An evaporator fan cools but adds water vapor-sort of a trade off to my mind
These methods got us thru all but 2 days of the last hot season

I'm a lot more used to having correctly color coded wireing
Should have run each feed separately -but as I only had one length I just ran them as I did
Whats the advantage to MEN connector?
