That's the figure from Flight Radar
https://www.flightradar24.com/data/airports/hdy
Certainly there are 23 direct flights daily; Air Asia 7, Thai Lion 6, Nok Air and Thai Smile 5 each.
She's the hub for the oil and gas industry in Songkhla hence the traffic, so a busy place and can't see it closing, certainly not for domestic flights. Not progressive thinking imo at all.

This topic has come up very good time for me.
My wife and three other friends, all retired teachers want to go and visit New Zealand and Australia.
They plan to fly to the north of the north island and then drive down to the south island and then fly to Australia.
My wife has both a Thai and a UK passport and plans to use the UK passport to enter and leave both New Zealand and Australia.
The others only have THAI passports.
We did a similar visit some 12 years ago and I remember having to get some electronic Visa for Australia. I also remember you have to be careful where you got the Electronic thing from else it cost you a lot more money.
Would someone kindly point me into the right direction to apply for whatever she needs
can anyone recommend a car hire company such that they can hire a car in the north and drop it off in the south
Thanks
re care hire there are so many options but from experience i strongly recommend GoRentals:-
have a great trip and a couple of tips:- check out two awesome hot springs, one in the north of the North island (my personal favourite) and the other in the north of the South island

Just saying, due to the lack of interaction/ communication on arrival with airport immigration officers I can see new issues at arrivals where the immigration officer blindly grants / or not, stamps without asking (or looking) whether the person in front of him/her has a visa to grant extended stays.

Driving through surathani town 2 weeks ago was stopped midday in random check point at junction near big tesco, 4 people in car all wearing seat belts-check, valid Thai drivers licence - check and he keeps hold of it, valid registration and insurance-check, owners log-mai me/only copy...400baht ticket telling me usually 2,000baht before wishing me choc dee????...i smiled and walked away. I still won't keep original book in the vehicle in case it's pinched but felt at 400baht it wasn't worth arguing the point.

If you are going to advertise as a tourist destination then you are bound to have a few unwanted costs. However compared to what comes in it's a drop in the ocean.
Also they don't advertise how dangerous the country is!
Most of the injuries/deaths will have been caused by a Thai or Thailand

Karma originates from Sanskrit language and is a word familiar to many in this country. So for all the excuses and apologies, pretensions of being seen to be doing the right thing plus showing false remorse is all too little too late. Deep shame for a group that values and places the virtues of respect so highly. The deed has been done with the words of disrespect have and are still being said. So the damage continues. The only solace to come is the knowledge that there will be consequences and actions made to right the wrongs of those involved in this tragedy. Karma.
Sincere condolences to the Miller and Witheridge families. R.I.P.

15years ago Thai were my preferred airline. These days I avoid them. My last experience was flying long haul in business, I'd slept through the meal service woke up starving and asked for a bite. 10 minutes later the guy came back with a bread roll. I kid you not. The first signs of troubles were the long faced, demotivated flight crews I started experiencing. Sad tale of wow brought on by poor management and freebies and corruption, in my view. Hope they turn it around.

here's my situ mate and hope it helps:
son- born overseas has been here since 2 years old and now 9.
we all got 1 year multi entry non O visas when we first came over and in that time i was asked why does my son have visa, does he work, have a job haha? not required until 14 years old i was told and got verified many times since by the officials in head office..
since then he comes and goes, never fined or had overstay stamp entered.
in 7 years had a brief issue on one occasion similar to a previous post where the immigration officer informed we needed to go to an immigration office to sort the overstay out. this was quickly over ruled by her superior and through we went.
to date nothing has changed so until it does i won't be changing our system.
good luck and likewise if any news breaks will inform here.

From exp just a tip mate, think you'll find it alot more straight forward getting the visa in your home country or fly in via Singapore and get it at the Thai consulate there, drop off the application at 9am and pick up at 3pm next day (as long as you don't get there between a Thai public holiday).
The Sing option best way personally in my opinion:
Doc's reqd are:
- bank statement showing min.400,000 THB for last 3 months
- copy of marriage cert (some places req the english translation version, Singapore doesn't)
- onward travel itinerary from Thailand
- well written letter from wife confirming/ stating your relationship (in Thai)
- proof of address in Thailand

"Attending the one-hour meeting were the governors of Phuket, Ayutthaya, Nakhon Ratchasima, Khon Kaen, Chiang Mai, Ubon Ratchathani, Sukhothai, Tak and Kanchanaburi."

my stroke rate when i was doing just over the 7min mark was 31-33 for the main then upped to high 30's/ low 40's for the last 90sec's or as fast as i could go. I try to get as much power in each stroke as possible and it's the same when doing weights I try to control the speed-explode up and control down. I was pretty spent by the end of 2000m and probably not the cleverest way to get maximum benefit. I usually just went for it at the end of a training session but over the last few years i have just maintained a stroke rate around the 30 mark and try to maintain 2000m every 10mins for 30 mins. i just don't seem able to row without setting some goal that pushes me to my limit. i always have the setting at the upper maximum position...why i'm not sure but probably not the cleverest. Now i'm taking it pretty easy on the strider for 30 mins with a warm up and down then doing stretchers and light weights with plenty reps.

Thanks alot, that is excellent info there you provided cheers. am very tempted to give it a go again. I rowed at national level a few moons ago and the technique we used was to keep the back slightly leant back but very rigid, strong and locked on the leg drive. Then once the legs are fully down lean back slightly more as you pull through with your arms.
Then at the end of the completed stroke reach forwards trying to keep you arms on a horizontal plane, lean forward ever so slightly but still keeping your back upright and strong before pulling up the legs, then when you get to the front of the stroke lift your hands slightly while driving down with the legs and again with the strong rigid back. Try to do it all as fluidly as possible and in continuos motion without jerking.
Maybe someone out there has a better or newer technique?
For anyone interested who may have a bad back and unable to do intensive rowing anymore (such as me...blew out my LV4-5 disc twice in 4 years which was work related but now unfortunately the rowing aggravates my lower back these days)...I bought one of those striding machines last year for 43,000B from my local SuperSports store to get in the cardio.
It's not as challenging or physical as the concept 2 rower but not a bad alternative for people with back probs. the strider model i have is a LiveStrong LS7.9E and 30 mins/ day gives an excellent cardio if you go to level 12 and try to keep above 80rpm's and go in reverse once in a while...works for me anyhows!
btw my old record for 2000m on the old concept2 was 7.03mins. i was trying like heck to break 7mins. can't imagine how folk can get below 6! think the world record is 5.30 odd.

Does this mean it will be tit for tat globally and Thai foreign investment will cease, even be terminated? No Thai companies buying up steel mills in the UK, sky scrapers in HK, farm land in NZ...wake up please, this is 2012. Roll on 2015 and reality when Thailand embraces (or not?) the ASEAN community.

man surely she can get there and do what she needs to on a tourist visa??? can't believe they'd deny her that unless she's breached or misled them in the past.

Funny so much. I get it all the time myself in everyday life and guess get immuned to a degree. My wife is a Thai doctor and I often ask her how they can run hospitals efficiently with this lack of communication ability. She says most doctors or nurses usually don't ask questions too much! Amazing Thailand. Problem is my wife asks questions too much and she has lived all her life here so I guess there are some exceptions to the rule about. Merry New year everyone...or is that Christmas

Well done Thailand
Thailand must also top the charts in accommodating the most negative, angry, sticky farang community in the world who wouldn't give 1 single baht to any charity (but if they did you would never hear the end of it) yet happily blow 100's/night drinking chang outside of the cheapest joints in town while groaning on about what is wrong in Thailand because they so clever and know everything...about nothing
