Hi Once Again

i also have another young pig about 3.5 month its shi##ing

a deep deep red color nearly brown, very wet like a custard texture but looks like their must be blood in it from somewhere

the pig looks fine except for that

eats well and is growing ok

any ideas, mike

i have some pigs from Yassothorn about 2 and a half months old

their ears started to flare looking like a rash redish and looking sore

i can only say not smoth skin like cauliflower,

they have had ivermecting ,, in the past and just recently 3 days of glenfloxin antibiotic

they are looking better today but what do you think the cause is

iv had it before about 6 month ago , pig prices ,,

i sold 10,,,@,68bht then the same day sold 8 @ 66bht

but in the market the price has gone up from 120 bht to 141 bht per kg.. thai logic ??

the buyer told me they have too many pigs,, for sale , so i told him to lower his price in the market and he'll get all the custom !!!

highest price i could get was 70bht

was told by another buyer if i wait for another 8 - 10 days he will pay 72 bht

but the first one also told me if i wait until next week it could be 68,,

yasothorn lady called me last week to say she had 60 for sale in about two week ,, ok thats what i wanted to hear, we now have 4 pens empty,,

60 is a bit too many at one go for me but i would have taken 30,,

called her after the sold six went,,

she doesnt want to sell now !!

so now im searching again,

this area is looking greener now, rained most of the night last night and more just around the corner,,

thanks for the reply i was/am useing creep 599 topfeed @ 410 bht= 10kg

but i got some piglets from yasothorn and the breeder was useing jbf 111 same as you and it is a lot cheaper 730 bht for 30kg

she has changed from topfeed to jbf for everything its a lot cheaper all around

trouble is for me there is no supplier near us ,,

jbf had a flier out advertising there food range and it must have had at least 20 dfifferent types of food bags to chose from

two people have sold pigs recently getting 78 bht kg and 80 bht kg so they say !

thanks for the reply, the gilts are about ?? 120kg now iv keept these two together,, the only reason i kept these is to me they look nice looking pigs and everybody who has seen them thinks the same this pair are duroc mother and father

But i also get piglets from a yasothorn breeder he was a school teacher but been into pigs a long time

they have nice piglets also, white with some hair on their body , very stocky piglets,

i raised 6 from there before and they were the fastest and least trouble of my total so fare of 200,

Also there is a ladyboy in chatolapratiman who has a rice collection / storage shed, he also breeds very good pigs but you have to be lucky to get from him because there is a waiting list for his piglets we visited yesterday and he had about 70 sold in his pens , some 3 days old were booked

i have two sister pigs about 8 month 2 week old, i was going to keep them to try breeding ,, maybe yes maybe no,

neither pigs have come into season at this time

So how do you guys bring the pig into season for the first time if you dont have a bore on your property ?

We have been told to get some Bore shit from another farm and put it in the pen ,, that will work !!,,, will it,,, !

Hey also. a couple of weeks ago early morning we were at the sty and missus noticed one pig about 3 months old with a very inflamed rash on its body and ears ,, never seen the day before ,, so we called the vet and some other pig breeders and asked them to have a look and ask what medication we should get,

unbelievable 20 mins later the rash was gone !!! no intervention from us,,

same again the next morning rash ,, then gone shortly after ,

At the moment the pig isnt showing any signs of any rash,, for one week nothing

Anybody using JBF pig feed ?

80bht per kg your other half did well ,, we sold 2 for the same reason as you to some locals and my missus asked how much can i go down ,,, i got 75 bht were near roiet ,, cheeky thai's get this, i went down from my 76 to 75 per kg because it was locals,, then the bin came to for 2 pige 13,275bht so i dropped the 75bht making it 13,200bht ,, im a nice guy ,, ah ,, so when mr thai is counting his payment to me he gives me 13,100,, and winks !!! i said one more 100bht please,, winks again

no money comes so i ask again 100 bht ,, now they have long faces,, so i say

i went down from 76 to 75,, for you, i dropped 75 bht from the bin total ,, for you,, i lent you my crate to take the pigs ,,[ they brought one crate for 2 pigs but the crate they brought didnt have a floor in it so the pig could stand on the floor not the scale,,i kept saying put the pigs feet on the scales ,,eventually i got four legs on the scales] ,,, and we had agreed on 75 ,,, now you want to change the ground rules,, and keep another 100 ,, sorry ,, cannot

problem was i was alone at the farm as per usual so they try it on all the time ,, limited thai language, no english

but i got my crate back today

we tried getting from Real Estate companies but no one has them same as in bangkok or pattaya for short term rental

My Visa was hacked in phuket

i got back to Australia 2 days later, went into the comm bank asked why i couldnt access my account ,, it was locked ,,

someone had emptied my account in london ,, 2 days after copying my card ,, my bank belived me ,, i still had my card. and never went to the UK

Visa fraud protection paid all my money back but it took 6 weeks ,,

i then read on the net a french gang were caught in bangkok after visiting phuket and pattaya

I had a win a few days ago,

we were in the local market passing the veggie section and i saw some bags of veggie leaf stacked up waiting to be picked up by the garbo truck

so i got the missus to ask around what they do with the offcuts,

Now i get about 50 kg of fresh off cut veggie leaf for 10 bht bagged and deliverd to the toyota,,

also a banana seller sells me big bags of over ripe or black bananas for the younger pigs for 40 bht for about 20 + kg

havent found many young piglets for sale this week but i can get some 28day old on the 14th of this month,, 1500 each and some six days later same price same mooban

does anyone look on mooyaso.net ? its thai language but maybe the wife can read it,, plenty of links on there also

yesterday i sold 7 @ 77bht kg, weights, 105,, 104,, 99.. 95,, 94, 87, 85.

As i was waiting for the truck to pick up the seven ,, another toyota came in and wanted to buy 2 different pigs, they offerd 80bht ,, to make merit ,,so they took one at a time. the first one they wanted weighed 72kg ,, @80bht,

but i had one pig with bad front legs and she was in a pen with 10 others using a 10 hole feeder bin ,, so i told them if they take her it will be better for me ,, and ill discount it to 76 bht

so that went also.

now trying to buy more but it not that easy at the moment, most people are keeping or just havent got any for sale.

also this hot weather here is having an effect december too cold ,,march april too hot

i only sell to cash buyers now because of problems with payment a few months ago,,, less stress

you can buy scales that go up to about 60kg just about anywhere,,,[ thats the kind of scale they use in the market to weigh loose food on ]

any large hardware store or corner hardware usually has them ,,

I have one up to 60kg ,, But the bigger ones that you can put a pig in a crate on,, are harder to find,, but the missus was passing through khonkaen two month ago and she spotted some for sale there so she bought a set ,[ if your in that area,, ] also our pig buyer told us there is a shop in Roi-Et that sells them,, they cost about 6000-7000 bht

korat must have them,, its pig city,,

Do Durok sows have less piglets then white breeds ,,

i ask this because i have 4 pure durok females about 4 month old and i was thinking of keeping a couple to try breed pure durok ,, they are one of the best i have had,

But i was told no dont do it by one of my piglet suppliers ,, he told my missus they only have a small litter and u should start with a white breed,,

but i like the durok better ,,

what do you think ,,

reminds me of Dows mother , she has cows next to this house,, i mean about 3 foot away they sleep under the rice barn which touches this house ,

one day i was looking at the new born calf and i spotted cattle ticks on the mother cow,,

so i said to dow, mothers cows have ticks they need injecting or spraying ,, she says no she's going to eat them ,, i said why is she going to eat the calfs mother ??

Are you going to let your pigs give berth on the floor of the pen ,, or have you bought / built gestation crates ,,

the reason i ask is ,,

i am thinking of trying to keep a couple of my durok sows ,, and give breeding a go they are such a nice pig

iv seen on a web site mooyaso .net a thai company near surin is selling berthing crates but i cant get the measurments off them over the phone , their prices were stated 7,000 - 15,000 depending on size, what are you going to do ? ,, i know you are near korat so much easier for you to have more choices,,

Cant you ask your wife to ask the land owner what they sprayed and why,,

also keep a record of the day and time they sprayed ,, maybe youll get a nice new lawn,, if its a fert,

or on the other hand maybe they'll have to buy and plant you a new lawn if its a grass/weed killer,

a few weeks ago i posted about flies,,

well i found out it was,,, self inflicted ,, What i was doing was wrong ,,

the land the sty is on ,, is very bad ground mostly clay with a kind of ironstone running through it ,,no good for crops

we have two dams also 40mts x 20 mts

when cleaning out i was bucketing the waste and digging holes in the ground and filling the holes with the waste and covering up,,

and doing it over a number of weeks trying to inprove the land hoping to plant elephant grass ?? which i have seen near us,, on another pig farm

what i was doing was creating fly breading beds i didnt know at the time ,, but i do now,,

so iv had to net all the way around the sty 25mts x 16mts and i bug out all the pig waste that i could get to ,, its a lot better now

Also iv dug in one pipe line to each dam for the washeout water, if i fill any buckets with waste i put the bucket into the dam also ,, not into the ground

i would like to bag the dry waist and sell it later or use it on the rice plot ,, but im not sure if it will create more of a fly problem

what is the best way to compost the waste,

if i bag it fresh will the flies still get to it ,

Sold 5 at 76bht ,, could have sold them 4 times,,

paid deposit for two lots 11,, and a 9 ,, but the price for piglets has gone up also to 1,400- 1,500

still got 47 ,,

must have been organised by a cycling club i saw many khonkaen shirts on the riders,

At the drinks stations they were giving drinks to riders and watchers,,

that was a sunday,,

monday morning i had to go to RoiEt past the drinks stations,, My god,,

the rubbish was all over the verge and on the road, ,, plastic bottles and wrapping crap everywhere ,,

i said to GF look at this mess how disgusting from a organised race

i said call the police find out who held the race,,,[ the police were there at the road juctions],, then call them to complain,,

She in her wisdom says ,

,

cannot,, who come clean up, nobody ,,

i said the people who drop rubbish should pick it up,, the same people who stand there and give the drinks out ,,

Thailand not do,, And the rubbish stayed there for weeks

i bought 11 piglets about two month ago,

looking at them now about six of them are into the 70kgs range, another three are a little lighter at 60kg + maybe,

but but i have two looking very light on, there bodies look slim and the skin seems paler,no fat, they have lose skin on there arss, its just not filling up,

one in perticular [[ im not joking ]] looks like it has depression ,, it lays in the corner like its scared, when i put food in the bin it will eat but never like the rest of them then it goes back in the corner lays down and shivers, even when the sun is shining and the floors are dry,

it did have / has still got.. ,, a skin complaint,, i got the vet to it and he gave it a jab a few weeks ago ,, it clearing the spots but the pig isnt growing like the rest ..

Does it know something the others dont know !!

i bought 8 duroc piglets about 6 week ago and touch wood they are doing ok,

i also like the look of these piglets they are the most friendly of all my 53 at the moment

if i could get more Duroc i would,,

i also have a cough in the sty,its with the 50kg and over pigs ,, i got the vet and he vacsinated only the pigs i had marked that were coughing

now 3 days later another 4 are coughing, i asked shouldnt he inject all the pen ,, no,,?

And skin rash on one perticular group of about 8,,, all body raised rash,, ,, they were vacinated and wormed some time ago

topfood, i got some very small piglets and they were on topfood 599

that was when i got the fly problem,, been thinking of changing to win

its getting less each day now , got the lights zapper the sticky glue , the tennisbat zapper,

spray outside, plants.

bought 15 piglets from local, i bought before from this thai man, when he deliverd i noticed one x.male had a hurnia in his ball sack

i showed it to the seller,, no problem,, looks like a problem in the making for me i thought at the time,

5 days later i got the vet to look because i wasnt happy with the way the sack was filling up

No problem ,, he gives injection for pain killing the piglet looked in pain and sore,

next day the affected area is all swollen even under his stomach is swollen looked like a balloon ,, the piglet is now looking thinner and sicker,,

My trouble and striff calls the thai man to come and look at the piglet with a hurnia,

today he turns up, We got the money back for that one and he took it with him,, good man

while he was there he is telling her,,pig prices up he's not selling piglets now he's keeping to finish.

where can i find the current pig per kg price iv seen it before but cant find at the moment

two week ago the missus opend her purse for the first time and paid for a bore to be put down on the block,,

Oh and power poles from the mooban, no more wires tied to trees,,

Bore = hole drilled and water now coming up through a pump,, 38mts deep

the water is clean and so far plentyfull But,, its a little salty,, but its good for washing out

the driller of the hole has pigs himself , and he said,, salty water no problem for pigs to drink,,

our food suplier said no problem with salty water it makes them eat more,,he has 400 pigs

one of the breeders who we buy off said,, no problem with salty water,, so they are now drinking it..

Or they were,,, because today i changed back to bought water until i know for sure its ok for them to drink safely

Any one know for sure,,, pigs Can drink salty water ? or anyone know that iv got bad advice and shouldnt be letting them drink salty water
