1. When this story first broke I read a great number posters jumping to conclusions based on nothing that this was an insurance scam. Where are all those posters now. It is a sad statement how ridiculous and embarrassing the farangs on this forum really are.

    I can't agree!

I am one of the farangs here, I have read the the first article about the robbery, I did not respond anything because it was not clear to me and I do not regard myself as "ridiculous" or "embarrassing"!!!

    Thanks for understanding.

  2. So does it mean there wont be any more fast track for Biz and 1st class passenger during rush hours ? but all planes from Europe usually arrived at the same period of time from 6 to 7am .... so , you pay your ticket more than double and you have to queue like anyone else ? how nice is that ..... Now they ask us to arrive earlier to avoid missing flight ... what about arriving one day in advance , stay at Novotel airport hotel..will be be enough time ? This is crazy ...

You pay more for getting a better service in the air - and not on the ground. Don't get it wrong.

  3. Isn't it amazing that so many comments already criticise Thai standards.

If you don't like it, here's an idea: go home.

    Have some sense and compassion.

I am "farang" - but one thing I really hate about many other foreigners is the fact that they stay here and are waiting for the next chance to complain about anything in Thailand. You are right: Let them go home - nobody will miss them.

  4. and this came from Thaksin i take it !

you cant convict a man/women of a crime with a half hearted investigation and then kill them within 60 days, how many innocent people set up will lose thier lives?

Nobody says that innocent people are going to be killed. If somebody gets caught with drugs - he/she is guilty ... easy. 10 days should be more than enough.

  5. so funny in a country where sex trade is one of the major business for decades . thats what we call a hypocrit sociaty ...it doesnt disturb us when we make money but it does when our kids are concern. With access to internet nowadays , teenagers have more choices than just a music VDO. Ridiculous ... there are more important issues .

...but it doesn't bother us, that we send our daughters whoring for their families!

(and by "we" I mean Thailand in total!)

Did you ever hear anything about differences between all the people all over the world? Would you like to be called a "motherf...er" just because some other men are acting like one? Sure not!

There is sex business in Thailand - no question. Parents still sell their children and get the benefits from their hard word. But that doesn't mean that everybody (every single person) in Thailand agrees or even supports this!

  6. ... My first father in law who was a lorry driver all his life (back to the days of solid tyres he told me), told me to regard every driver on the road as a total maniac. In Thailand I don't have to drive more than 100 yards for this sentiment to be self evident.

Can't agree, sorry. Driving in Thailand is verrrry dangerous, sure. But it's possible to do it even without getting injured or even killed. I am living and working in Samut Prakan since a couple of month now and from MON to FRI I use my small Yamaha Mio scooter to drive to work. Big roads - 2 to 3 lanes per direction, traffic jams, public transport songtaeows, taxis, not turning on direction indicator lights, breaking light bulbs without function, driving against the "normal" direction ... have seen everything here.

But if you don't speed up like some idiots, if you don't want to win any race, if you pay attention to all the other drivers - you can reduce the danger alot.

  7. Sorry, I am one of the stupid farang, who just works here, but this massive accumulation of signs 10. เขตธนบุรี 1 ชุมชน คือ ชุมชนปากคลองบางกอกใหญ่ means "(Thonburi)" ???

I would be SO happy, if would get some relaible....ok, no wait...ANY information in english!

"เขตธนบุรี" the red words written here read out as " Khet Thonburi", yes. To be translated as "area" / "district" But the rest of the letters - not sure about it, sorry.

  8. This breaks ones heart. I wish I thought they were saved in the nick of time but for some reason I don't think they are out of the woods yet. The practice is still common in the Northeast and many are never shipped out of country. So Sad.

I am living in a small village in the Northeast of Thailand. I have been throwing stones towards dogs, I will do it again and I hope, someone will come to catch them away from here to be eaten up somewhere else.

I admit - I hate dogs as their hauling and barking keeps me awake for hours nearly every night.

  9. ..... So the officer looked at him and said, 'You have been learning Thai for six years already. Is that right?' The answer was yes so the officer looked at a nearby fish tank and said in Thai, 'The big fish eat the little fish." The foreigner looked at him without a clue. The officer smiled and picked up a big red stamp and stamped "CANCELLED"

Oh how funny - oh how good and right this was!!! Once again I will get many angry answers to my statement - but I don't care.

There is a real need of much more, sufficient controls towards all those "visa-gangsters". Not attending 80% of the lessons, not passing two tests each term - kick them out of here.

Well done! Go ahaed with that strict policy.

This is not sarcastic, not ironoc. It's my honest opinion.

And: I am not over a certain age to retire. I don't have enough money to stay here without doing anything than hanging around. I am working for my money and for my visa.

  10. >I see - you are nearly born here. Or living here since more than 40 years. Or why did you put my word "since" (a year) in capital letters? Anything wrong or funny with it?

You should be able to read my post, right? I didn't say anything about "Shut up or go home"! I just said that I can't stand other foreigners to complain about everything.

He was trying to help correct your grammar. "I have been living here for more than 40 years" OR "I have been living here since 1970" would be correct.

Perhaps he thinks you're not really a farang, just because your English is so poor, you write nearly as bad as the Thais with a Master's in English language.

But of course you could be Dutch or French too, but 100% sure you're not a native English speaker.

    That was his point.

    Sorry to correct you.

But I would never complain about anybody's English - as I am not a "real native speaker".

I am from Germany and sometimes afraid of wrong spelling or grammar. How could I complain about other member's English? No.

I just tried to answer in a quite sarcastic way - referring to his probably devaluating answer about the duration of my short period of living here.

    Thanks

Maapaa...nothing wrong with your English, the people commenting on it are most likely "English Teachers" who feel obligated to correct every mistake, as they think they are still "teaching" a class...We do have a term for these types of people, but dont think it would be appropriate to use it in this case...so lets call them the Grammar Police instead

English teachers? Haha, that's what I am, too. But only for so called "basic conversation", nothing about grammar. Prathom and Mathayom school here in a small, Isaan village.

  11. It is bad for tourists and the future of tourism ...

I'm fairly certain that someone resident in a hotel can order a drink or drinks sent up to his room.

I'm also reasonably certain that not all tourists need to be inebriated 24/7 and that the future of tourism is not teetering on a precipice because alcohol is not free flowing around the clock.

What's worrying is how many of the TV regulars feel they are threatened and Thailand's future is at stake if booze isn't readily available. If you really feel that everyone is suffering because of this, you may be labouring under the misconception that all expats and all tourists spend all their waking hours sucking up booze in sleazy bars. Not a particularly rosy view of the state of farangitude.

Thanks for this post. Agree 100 per cent.

Don't let anybody get me wrong here - I like to drink, yes. Thai spirits mixed with Coke.

But: If I really would need it that much - I would buy it in advance.

Or avoid the popular tourist places and find another, cheaper place with much less police around.

This should be possible for 30 (not really 36) hours.

  12. >I see - you are nearly born here. Or living here since more than 40 years. Or why did you put my word "since" (a year) in capital letters? 13. we all know Thais dont drink alcohol ......... they are never drunk ...behave perfectly in the society and never cause troubles ..... oh are we talking about farang here ? Oooops ...... that is the most stupid things I have seen today so far ....

I really thought farang was not part of those elections ....

We are! As some of us decided to live here - and so we have to follow the Thai laws! And that's good.

If Thais are following the laws or not - we don't have to care about it because it's not our business!

I am living and working here in Thailand since a year now.

What I really can't stand aren't any Thai laws or police checkpoints. No. I am really getting bored of foreign guests (that what we are here) complaining about nearly everything!

Nobody forced you to come to Thailand, it was your own, free decision! If you don't like Thailand anymore - go back home! It would make life here much better.

Shut up or go home... heheee, you been in Thailand SINCE a year now, and you just love everyhing, and all the Thai people treat you as they do other Thais, right??

Hey, stay cool and polite, please.

And I asked myself: If they don't like Thailand, if here are so many things to complain about - why don't they try to find a better place to stay? Or much better: Why don't they go back to the country where they came from? Impossible to understand for me - but I am old and stupid. So - don't try to explain it to me, please. I wouldn't get you anyway.

Thais treating me as they treat other Thais?

Sometimes they are treating me even better! And I don't like it!

I have a quite good job here in a small village and nearly all the people here (from police to school directors) show much more respect than I deserve.

But - even if I would live here until I die - I will stay a farang and not a Thai. No question about this.

But the point is: Here is Thailand - not any other country! Luckily we can't change the laws here.

Not everything is good, no. But we have to obey - if you like it or hate it.

How are we treating people from other nations in our homecountries? The same way as we treat our own nationals? Sure not!

    Have a nice evening

  15. ...... So why dont you just go to Florida or California or do your time in France? Plenty of nude beaches there. Most of the ladies showing them should be jailed or brought to

a surgery clinic. Most of the more attractice girls dont show their tits anyway. btw. EVERY country has its Laws and we have to respect them or bugger off. .....

    Another good reply, thank you.

  16. ..... Is it one rule for Farangs and obne rule for locals here ?

As far as I know it's not just any funny rule for farangs (I'm one, too).

It's forbidden by Thai law - valid for ALL people in Thailand. But this good law needs to be strictly enforced. Fine these few nudists before more and more beaches are occupied by topless or even naked Europeans (I am German), let them spend some hours with the police, let them inveign or bluster about Thailand, let them decide to spend their next holiday not here - and everything will be ok again.

It's not your bedroom, not your livingroom, not your home, not your country! It's Thailand - and all people visiting Thailand have to obey Thai law!

    I am not prude, no.

I am married, living here in Thailand without my wife and dating 2 women (not only to talk about beautiful Thai nature ... ;) ... ) and my post here has nothing to do with any religious morality. No.

My former German girlfriend used to go topless on European beaches - but before we decided to visit Thailand in 1994, we tried to read a bit about Thai culture. Easy to find that it's not common to go topless.

So - she was wearing a bikini! That's it! Easy and simple.

  17. .... I am sorry but i do not see the fun part at someone else's misfortune or/and family tragedy.

    Totally true.

As far as we don't know what is rue or not it's much too early to try to get the title of "Mr. Funny Joke" here.

Most of the comments are meant to be funny or whatever. They are not.

The man is from the Ukraine - but I would like to see your reactions here if this would happen to a person from the States or UK ... still funny?
