  1. Check if any of your neighbours on the same floor, and below and above, also have a problem with this, then report it, as a group, to the juristic person manager for your condo block. May, or may not get result depending also on how many Thais affected will complain. Good luck.

  2. Also have fabric shops in Naklua, and the market there on Sundays, soi bukheow market(Tuesday and Friday) also has fabric stalls. Chonburi has a great market with many fabric shops on the perimiter road of an indoor market, near a temple for parking, sorry but not know the exact location as went on a minibus excursion.

  3. The very first one was situated in 'The Market'which was a very nice mix of shopping/restaurant/entertainment area, but now is home to an eyesore of a not completed building of whatever it was meant to be on second road past soi 6 and before the macdonalds. Went there for dinner one night as I love turkish food, only to be told full because have many tour groups tonight! Ordered takeaway once, but never again, never even been tempted to try any of their new locations since.

  4. The most saddening and annoying aspect of this is that children could be made aware of and partly protected from this by an efficient education system, not only here in Thailand but worldwide, to teach them the morals of right and wrong behaviours and inapropriate actions of others toward them and that threats of violence, emotional blackmail, keep it our secret or else etc. against them are but empty threats used by and to protect the perpetrator, no matter who they are, and there are many more good people out there to help them and punish those who deserve it, and that it is certainly not the children's fault.

  5. I would think the inapropriate content of the thai soaps and music videos would outweigh internet content considering Thai television seems to be way more accessible to many teens (although this should soon be remied/worsened by the free tablet programme) quite how this affects the unemployment figures due to the affects of the flooding is baffling, but then again maybe the internet is perceived here as yet another unwelcome foreign intrusion disrupting Thainess.

  6. Our condo just put water up to 28bt per unit, but only because the previous(Thai) management never factored in the cost of the electricity needed for the pump to get the water to everyone's condos, and the water pressure here is way better than we had at a bungalow on nernplubwaan at a cost of 264baht per month even if we were away on holiday for a month or more(company registered house) at the condo you do not use you do not pay! The electric here is standard PEA charges, and need way less air con due to the breeze blowing through the 7th floor when the balcony door open.

  7. Tried to contact my old mate Bruce to see if he is around. A good mate of his is arriving next week and we want to see him. Its a long way to Pattaya from where I live, so I would like to be sure we can see him if we go there.

Anyone know how I can contact him. I dont have his current email or mobile

    [/q

If he is such a 'good or old mate' how come the loss of contact?

  8. I lub the crab speling, it gifs me ours of funn. Espeshally the Skool boy howlers.......

I did wonder what was going on ...but it must be the stupid loss of face that perpetuates this peristant problem.

I saw one bar sign in Soi 7 Jomtien/Chomtien/Jomtein Chom Thian.....that was I believe THE RELAXED BAR.....But four different attempts later and it was still wrong.

Any one want to hire a Mortar Bike?. Or buy car that is For SAEL....there are 2 on Theprassit road with cardboard signs spelt like this.

One problem is translating the Thai into English as some characters change sound depending on where it is in the Thai word.

This is why there are several housing estates called EAKMONGOL and you hear the Thais say EAKMONGON...the last letter written in Thai script is called "Law Ling" making English speakers assume it is like an 'L' well............... this is Thailand !!!

So if placed at the end of a word it is "sometimes" given a soft 'N' sound. In fact most Thai words the last letter is silent. If you see a Thai letter with a thing like a small sperm above it - this is called a Gharan. Which indicates to the reader it is not pronounced as B in the english word COMB. If you look carefully at Thai script there are lots of letters with this symbol above it. Even in peoples names and many town names. I give up asking why ?????????? No one can tell me - even a REAL Thai teacher with 35 years experience. Just take it as read....The other symbols are tone marks.

Now you might know why Thais say Mowta Sigh, Foot Bon and cut the end of lots of English words Englaaann Scotlaaaann Naw Way Beeah Baaah

I believe someone actually produced a book full of photos with crazy bar names and bad spelling around the Pattaya area ...

My favourite is the UR NET internet cafe in Jomtien.....they can provide you with a LapTop Hooker (should be hook-up).......

God I hope I have not made any spelling errors in this post..........................................

Of course you have made spelling mistakes, being married to a Scot I know the Thais all say Sacotaland. And kudos to all the Thai sign writers because their written English is way,way better than my written Thai. If you go to the restaurant at the Ananya in Naklua they have horse crap on their menu, but this reflects the Thai p pronunciation of b in English. Also the Thai script bears no resemblance whatsoever to the English script, but it does make for some interesting reading sometimes, and we do need to think of how much we could write/translate from English to Thai without raising a laugh from Thais, this is a problem I encounter frequently in my limited conversation let alone writing.

Would you be able to write this post in Thai, I know I never could because the Thai script is far too artistic for me to attempt.

To add further to this post I must admit that the last time we visited the UK there were any amount of bad spellings on notice boards etc. there too and I bet the writers were not Thais either.

  9. "...excellent breakfast - extra large: lots of bacon, 2 small sausages, 2 fried eggs, fried potatoes, fried tomatoes and mushrooms, Baht 160..."

2 eggs on fried toast, 2 rashers, sausage, beans, tomato, toast w/butter & jam, and tea/coffee @ B 75...I'm stickin with Crazy Dave's!

Is that a typo and should read 2 fried eggs on toast? If not what is fried toast?(Or maybe I know the answer already and it is a Scottish thing where they seem to fry everything)

  10. These buses sometimes terminate at the bottom of the soi before NPW,usually during the rush hours when traffic is very busy on suk, they take a right at the 7/11 onto the road that leads to Tesco express, then take a left so you then have to walk back toward NPW and over to the top of the klang for a blue bus into town. They are no good for returning from a night out as they seem to stop running around 7pm, so you have to haggle with the blue bus drivers to get back.

  11. Try another pharmacy, the online MIMS Thailand still lists this product, maybe Fascino now prefer only to stock the higher priced version, same when I went there to buy Clarid(generic clarityn)only stock the much more expensive version. Have the same problem with other generic meds, the pharmacists seem to think foreigners only want to buy the more expensive brands.

  12. Never goin home, no one's a stranger bar, no air con, charged 115baht for a bottle of singha light, which was 15 baht MORE than the fancy French restaurant we'd had dinner at earlier!! Go figure why some are going out of business!!!!

  13. Why should overweight passengers be entitled to half of your seat space when they have paid the same as you have, and as a previous poster pointed out you get penalised for 1kg extra baggage, if someone does not fit in a standard size seat they should have to pay for extra seat space instead of freeloading into others!!

  14. :) Heard yesterday from a very reliable source, he's a regular there, that there is already an area cordoned off at the beer garden. Not in anticipation of a party though! Seems a section of it has collapsed, so need to check it out before TV'ers plunge into the drink at a party!!
  15. Wow you guys dont get around much .Nobody mentioned Rosie o Gradys Sunday roast at B189 ,and a pint of Guinness only B160 .Had one today around 4 pm , and am still full at 9 pm .
