  1. I had a new passport request due to water damage and that was on the 20th of December and I am still waiting. BTW I had to make an appointment and they didn't like the photo and had to get a motosai to the old embassy area to get a new photo. Another chap there had an appointment in an hours time and was told to wait even though he was the only other person there. Eventually they decided to see him 30 minutes early. He too was sent away for a new photo. All the money spent on a new embassy and they couldn't buy a camera that would have paid for itself.

It shouldn't be that hard to get an appointment time now they don't witness documents. In fact they may as well take half the seats out.

Thanks guys. I wasn't aware of that 6-month validity on the stat dec. I'll just get to the Embassy before the 7th and take my chances end of March. My immigration lawyer once told me that the stat dec was only good for 7 days, so I guess he was wrong or something changed. I appreciate your help.

They only do appointments. See my post above. Security at the front gate won't let you in. It's like Fort Knox ad the new place

My passport was ruined in a washing machine and they let me in with a credit card with my name on it. A valid Australian Driving licence will suffice as will a photocopy of your passport.

Thanks. I have a laminated copy of my passport hadn;t got round to updating it because I was going to do it next week as my landlord has a copy shop and they do it for me for 20 baht.

As it dries out we can make out the main page and visa stamp. When it fully dries I will see if the unused re entry stamp is visible. The TM7 won;t be a problem.

No I didn;t yell. My fault for leaving it my pocket and she has offered  to sell some gold for the cost of replacing it.

The website mentions nothing about damaged passport and says you have to go to Bangkok to pick it up. And when I tried emailing it throws something up that doesn;t work.

And last time I went to the embassy I was the only client there. I was told to take a number and waited 15 minutes before they saw and charged me an a heap of money to witness my stat dec. It wasn't lunch time so what were they doing?

  4. Went to hospital (Pattaya City) Saturday and after 5 hours waiting for blood tests results came home and had a snooze. Forgot to take passport out of zipped pocket. The girlfriend normally goes through my pockets before washing. Last night she she didn;t and when I got home from a nearby bar after farewelling some Aussies she was in tears.

Passport is now a a sodden lump of paper and plastic.

In it was my TM 7, retirement extension until may and a reentry visa I had got last month as my Mum will knee replacement surgery next year and I will have to go back.

Anyone had experience as to what is required to get all the stamps back and what the Australian embassy will require. They are shut today so can't ring the useless bludgers.

All I can work out is I will have to Bangkok and pay 8800 baht for a new one. And make an appointment.

  5. They used to only take USD or Rupiah but I think they take credit cards now. What is worse was the ATM were on the other side. But take as much currency as you can because Indo ATMs can sometimes only give you a small amount. You will need small amounts of rupiah anyway because there ate toll bopths every where from the airport. No need for one but I guess every General put one in. And take only Bluebird or silverbird taxis from the airport. They are owned by the powers to  be robbing them or the passengers.is a death sentence for Indos.

  6. My GFs kid who is 12 rides motorbike to school, refuses to wear helmet. I asked the missus what that sign front house. Bus stop for school. I then asked why he not use it. Bus not stop internet cafe way home. Then said why he not use tablet I got him at home. He like to play with friends. The faxt that his father was killed in a motorcycle accident appears lost.

  7. It doesn;t cost that much for a guesthouse and taxi in PP. Go and see the sights for a day and get back to the airport with plenty of time the next night. If you miss your flight back you will have to buy another ticket and find a hotel anyway. If you book a guesthouse near the Tonle Sap you can walk to the Royal Palace, the Wat, and some cheap markets around there plus plenty of bars and cafes.

  8. Why didn;t the OP say I.m with her and cop 2 free 100 baht dinners, Still only one loser mm err wait.

Making up for the all the tourists who hand over a 1000 baht not on a daily basis to a Song Thaew driver so his family can do a bunk and save themselves 40 baht.

  9. If you couldn;t get potatos in Pattaya the pommy expats would top themselves . Particulary if the couldn't get chips around the Lk metro fat bastard breakfast places for the bangers and mash.

Got some yesterday in a roadside stall. No shortages here.

  10. I have my retirement extension approved last month but the forms are missing from my passport. Can anyone help with what I will need to do if I can't find it. It looks like someone, probably one of the girlfriends rello kids, ripped it out of my passport which I had taken out to go to Jomtiem. I think my next 90 days is in August bu I want to visit Singapore in July and will need a single reentry stamp as well.

  11. The Government would be stupid to stop pensions  because you lived overseas.. If they did that and thousands moved back demanding housing, hospital beds, concessions and the vote the system couldn't cope. The media would be all over it as well with sob stories. Can';t bring the new wife. Can't stay with my kids. Worked and paid taxes for 50 years. Thailand would be small fry compared to those c

in Lebanon and Greece. The political fallout would be huge.

I am a superannuant and the only rule is you must pay into an Australian bank.

I took my my super statement to the embassy and they didn't look at it. Neither did the Jomtiem immigration office. They just witnessed my signature in bangkok and Jomtiem just filed it.

  12. I do quite often. Grabbed a beer from my fridge and wandered to the local  bar. Sometimes stopping to speak to neighbours. Usually a third left and it gives the staff time to get me a replacement and they keep the empty. I have also drunk my own  wine but expect to pay corkage. No big deal
