  1. A mate rents a house behind the Dao Cafe, He flew back to Australia yesterday leaving his Thai girlfriend in the place. So we met yesterday at his place for a drink . He mentioned about water outages and I asked him if he had a tank. He didn't know so we went for a walk out the back, There is a tank plumbed into the house next door but the pump is on his side of the fence AND wired into his electricity. So he disconnected it. Going to be a very upset neighbour who had better arrange a new pump or rig up a power source.

  2. If the russkie had of drowned there would be a heap of posts here saying the Thai lifeguards were untrained, incompetent, uncaring and all 3. When I was last in Bali my girlfriend I were the only ones swimming between the flags. About 50 Australian bogans just ignored the lifeguards. I asked a Balinese lifeguard about it and he stated in near perfect English. Tourists just ignore us, we can't lock them up.

  3. I did some work with the police and Army dog squads a few years back looking at suitable transport vehicles. . Aside from a bomb going off and a vehicle accident the biggest concern was from back injuries. In the majority they are found to be from jumping in and out of vehicles that the platform was too high. We got around it buy a simple slip proof ramp made of checker plate but plank of wood would do. A small dog and a D max is asking for trouble.

  4. Zero percent on jet skis your having a laugh !smile.png

This year I brought into thailand a small inflatable quicksilver , and a 5 hp mercury outboard cost me on uk ebay

about 20.000 baht and customs wanted 22,000 after a few phone calls got it down to 15.000 sti crazy price for5 year old boat and 15 year old engine but I was kinda expecting that

how the so called customs can drop the import duty price in a phone call !!!!!

You have to remember your not in the us or uk dealing with normal customs

Here they do what they want I suspect my boat never had any customs paper work

    corruption

my advise dont import anything !!!!!

You should try changing Customs brokers if that's the case. My broker imports 12 boats a month for his personal business and pays 7% VAT and that's it. My last import was an aircraft which he negotiated the VAT down to 4%, rather than the usual 7%. I have 2 used jet skis arriving next month....he figured 7% on a declared value of 50% of actual cost.

I was looking for actual, real life feedback from business owners. I'm not sure the background of you guys but you don't come across as particularly successful. Let me guess....old, fat, bald, met your wife on a barfine, living here on a pension?

There are 2 key words in your response that you may have overlooked and may wish to consider. Old and living. if you think being over 50 , never having to work again and screwing a 30 year old is not sucessfull go and ask some poor slob back in falangland where he would rather be. And strangely most of the fat falang I see are tourists.

  5. I live in a gated village in East pattaya nad my mate and wife wanted a taxi. The thai taxi driver across the road was starting off for the evening and I waved him down. Never met him. But he dropped my mate and his wife off at their Hotel and "no charge, I hadn't start work yet". So he will get my business now. Well for short trips anyway.

  6. It is not hard to fix. Post notices in 5 language on every post. As of tommorrow and bikes or cars will be taken away. It will be ignored. Then actually get large trucks to pick up the bikes and tow away the cars and just leave them somewhere the other side of the lake. Broadcast where they have been taken.

We had a problem of illegally parked and abandoned vehicles etc in a miltary base in Australia. Then we established an Urban Search and Rescue training centre and authorised use of the vehicles for jaws of life training. the illegally parked vehicles were very quickly removed when the owners realised their fate and walked the extra 80 metres to the canteen.
