  1. Stupid reply. :D How can anyone be expected to fly in comfort without used panties and/ or a large rubber fist?

oh, rubber fist?! <deleted>?! I know some people love those fist websites sure, but I'd rather settle for a Mars bar 'a la Heathrow' 5555 :D

There are some sick people out there. Ignore him. Mars bars? You should be banned for spreading smut and filth on Thaivisa. :D

I didnt mention the fist until you did, you bad dirty hairy man! I wont tell if you dont..... :o

  2. Well if your ever in Phitsanulok, drop into Tesco/Lotus and you will fit right in with us farangs with frowns.

Also you could possibly consider gaining succesful employment with the bunch of 'smiling happy staff' at Tesco Lotus supermarket, especially around the Thanon Phahonyothin area of Bangkok, such lovely smiling interesting Thai people..... :o

  3. Hi. I work for a Thai NGO and get paid 10 000 Baht per month.

That is quite a good salary here.

Although I think English teachers typically get 30 000 Baht per month plus, which is huge.

You are better off paying Thai tax if you can, as then the money is going to the government that is providing your infrastructure. Also it is very cheap.

You could work as a consultant and be paying English taxes. You'd have to work out about visas but otherwise that would be fine.

BTW If you're earning THB 10k a month you'll be paying hardly any Thai tax. May not even be enough to get a work permit. In the UK you would need to earn GBP 420 a month or THB 25k before you paid any tax. So why are you recommending paying Thai taxes rather than UK????? Also it's not as if you're allowed to pick and choose where to pay tax...

Either you're taking the p**s out of someone who is genuinely asking for advice, or you're proving a little knowledge is a dangerous think. You seem to have no idea what you are talking about. I have never met a foreigner prepared to live off THB10k a month. The only people doing so, would have either a) financial income from elsewhere :o everything else provided, eg rent/food etc

True, but leave the Guy alone, I saw him with his missus wheeling the Noodle cart up Sukhumvit soi 4 last night, works hard, plays hard, and does a mean Gao Lao and rice. Must be good for 10k a month chai mai krap?

  4. Just came back from a week in London and overall impressions of London were pretty low but generally I always have low expectations when travelling to the UK. But arriving and departing London's Terminal 3 is not a pleasant experience. First you're expected to walk outside to get anywhere and overall it's just dirty and run down. Now granted they are renovating and I look forward to seeing it when it's complete but that area is a high stress area for me. I even saw staff talking to people whilst chewing gum and chastising them for having overweight luggage. When we got to the departure gate there were vending machines in the room but none of them were turned on.

Is it this bad at other London airports? Perhaps I've been out of London for too long and expect too much.

:o Maybe they had low expectations of you also? As for the vending machines, there is a plug at the back, try it, and get us a Mars bar whilst your bent over love. Joking aside, I dont miss the place whatsoever, in fact, It IS A DUMP your right! 5555!

THB 10k a month. You must be joking. THB 30k a month being huge.... you've confirmed it. THB 10k is perhaps OK for a local Thai living with their family. For a foreigner that's a pittance given what rent etc costs. Unless they're providing a lot more for you, eg accommodation, meals etc. at THB 10k a month you're existing as a foreigner. Not really living.

A few years ago I had an apartment in lower Sukhumvit. There was a guy there from Oxfam. He had a 3 bed apartment (even tho' just gor marries), which cost around THB 40k a month. One reason I'm reluctant to give to overseas based charities/NGOs. I'd rather my money went to people who need it.

Agreed :o Charity starts at home, saying that, whos up for a Somtam and lao cao eating competition? all are welcome! ps 10k baht per month, I respect you man! :D

  6. 1977: Rock and roll 'king' Presley dies !!!!!!!!

    Shocking :o

Yep, same. The King of Burgers, died that very year and made way for the 'real' deal, KD, with fully grown sideburns. I love his music, really, I do, what you dont beleive me?....... :D My mum ate too many of the 'King Elvis' burgers, bent over one hazey midsummers night, farted and thus the KD was born, spectacular!

  7. Anyway isn't one of the reasons you like living in Thailand cos you like them nice friendly interesting smiling Thais and you just wanna avoid them boring Farang that just talks about the weather?

nice friendly interesting smiling Thais? You obviously do not reside in Bangkok then!? 5555! :o

  8. Cheers Lads, looking for a quiet strip just to relax in the day, last time in Jomtien was 6 years back, such a peaceful end of the beach too. Does anyone know Richard/ ETS place near cosy beach hotel, jomtien? I was there a while back, lovely fella.

  9. Bangkok has choked me for 15 months and I feel a visit to Pattaya for some beautiful ocean views, clean uncrowded beaches, serene beauty, if just for a few days. Can anyone possibly advise on a nice place to stay not far from the beach please...and if there are nice pies available nearby, or fish and chips, farang food, views from Blackpool Tower etc, that would be great......

    cheers

  11. I arrived on a flight at the new airport, put my luggage on a trolley, which had those plastic things on the bottom, I've seen all over the world, that can go on escalators. I exit the customs area, and need to go down one level to get a public taxi. There is a DOWN escalator right there, but it just didn't look right... it was a regular looking escalator, kind of like in a department store, rather steep, and no sign FOR or AGAINST trolley usage. I waited to see if others were using it, and got impatient... I started to put the trolley on it, and some nice person RAN and screamed NOT to use that escalator with a trolley, I needed to use a different escalator, not a steep one, but one of those long, gradual ones... I found it, again, no signage FOR or AGAINST trolley usage, but there was no problem.

I imagined in my mind someone putting a child on top of some luggage, putting them on the WRONG escalator, with NO SIGNS, and the whole thing immediately tipping over, and flying down about forty feet. What kind of idiot wouldn't put a sign there? And as I indicated, the STEEP escalator was RIGHT next to the arrival exit area, that most people would immediately head for.

    Awful. :o

And I am sure you took the time out to translate your experience into Thai Language and posted it the relevant Airport Authorities, rather than just ranting in English on a website, chai mai krap? :D

  12. My wife can't cook, won't clean, blows the weekly budget on whatever current fad takes her fancy, gambles, smokes, doesn't drink, is more headstrong & beligerant than most males & is very scary when I come home from the pub late & pissed & she's at the door with a .38 in her hand. :D:D:o

    55555555555! :D

  13. Whenever I view a Topic, members responding to posts thereafter are compiled in a list at the bottom of the Topic. Possibly I have mis-configured the viewing settings unknowingly(?) but I have no idea how to refer back to the original viewing format of thaivisa forum I used to see. I am probably not explaining this very well so I include a screen shot here, any assistance much appreciated!?!

    Best regards,
