am not in the position to technicaly comment on photographs since am still learning.
i may express what i feel when looking at your image. reflecting.
she seems happy to see you. i think she is hoping that you'll be a good customer too and buy some of her lemons.
the sidewalk express some perspective in the image.
a hard working friendly old lady and the busy modern day miss probably going to work or shopping.
i think the old lady hopes that you'll take a good picture of her and show it to others so they might come and buy her lemons too.

greetings hello
i took this picture late afternoon, sometime 5.30. the kid holding the ball is facing towards the sun.
using d80; 18-135 @ 66mm; iso400; f/5.6, shutter 1/250; aperture priority;
i handheld the camera and took the shot in less than 5 seconds and was about 8 meters away from them.
this is a cropped image, did some trial and error with curves, levels and highlights and shadows.
the original image is quite dark, so i just did some simple processing to lighten the image.
i really love to take shots at everyday simple things, about people and places, just around the neighborhood. so nothing so grand for now. i hope you'll enjoy.
you may do as you please.
thanks so much.
okey, it seems theres something wrong with ur white balance, it looks yellowish, I believe you took this pic in JPEG format and not raw. Or it might be overdoing in saturation levels (the yellow one). The composition is okey, though you should have taken many angles so that you can get that more dramatic composition.
yes. i usually attack the white balance. in this image i move the temperature much more higher + to the yellow and the tint more - to the green.
yes it was on jpeg. and i guess am a bit over-excited to saturate it more than normal.
when i took the image i just stood in the corner coz i was a bit shy and uncomforable feeling they might not like me taking photos of them.
thanks wanderer9020

D80 ....That's a nice camera
I am in the same situation, I am a real amateur, and I just bought a Canon EOS 400 (Kiss) fitted with a 18-55 lense, which I completed with a 55 - 200. I am in discovery process !
You made a nice shot, but my feeling is that the bee is not really outstanding. Maybe a bit more centered would help....Just my "amateur"opinion. I guess that some more "specialist" will help better !!
who, me. thanks for the observation.
i guess the the bee is like saying "can't you see am busy."
i handheld my camera when i took the shot and was bending over.
thanks.

Welcome to the forum spellboundxy.
That's a good effort for a beginner but might I suggest that the colours and exposure are a bit too contrasty.
I've attached my modification which may appeal to you. I've desaturated it to address the above problem, and softened it also by applying a severe noise filter.
I've also opened up the shadows/background detail to give it a little more depth
Keep the shots coming
wow cool. thanks The Vulcan.
i'll study your modification process and try to apply it in my processing.
wow thanks so much.

Spellbound
hanging around ball-in-hand in nana 4 last nite
passing by nana hotel at 11pm later
then i heard melodic music coming from three creative thai guys
doing their harmonic sounds at the side walk
with the Nana hotel wall sign in their background.
One guy beating rythmic drum loops on his homemade drum "machine"
another guy grooving his electric bass guitar
then this guy with his native traditional thai "guitar look-alike"
picking melodic sounds and hypnotic leads
for me it attracted my attention.
they were playing hypnotic melodic traiditional strange beautiful music.
these guys were great and they were thais
creating simple and attractive music on very simple instruments
i especially love their melodic leads.
hurray to these guys!!! keep it up. way to go. i love thailand.
unfortunately i was in a taxi, didn't have the chance to get n give them some bhat.
i hope some of you did.
thier creative music really attracted me.
i was spellbound.
perhaps, maybe some of you too.
