  1. I finally paid my TOT internet bill today.   I drove over 50 kilometers and spent 2 hours to do it.  I, too, went to TOT Pattaya Klang.  Closed because of Covid19, fair enough.  Even though the government said that telephones essential services.  I made 9 phone calls to the 3 numbers I received on my little paper from the guard who would not let me enter.  In one of the calls, I was told I had to go to TOT Ban Amphoe to pay.  Or I could also go to the CAT office on Pattaya Tai.  The next day I went to CAT and was told I could NOT pay there.  I had to go to Ban Amphoe.  Google Maps gave me the approximate location, but it was on the wrong side of the highway, Sukhumvit.  Asking a couple of places, I finally found it.  It's not visible from the highway, but on one attachment you will see there is a tiny TOT sign.  Only Monday-Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm.   It's on the side closest to Pattaya from the  of the Ban Ampoe Intersection stoplight.   If you see the KrungThai bank, you've gone too far.  Maybe only 100 meters from the intersection is Soi Na Jomtien 26.

  2. I understand and agree with everything you have said about IAT (International ACH Transfer) which replaced ACH for international transfers.  My problem has been it's been difficult to find a bank that will use IAT.  I have 3 bank accounts and 1 credit union, and nobody can help me.  One of the banks, Wells Fargo, has their own system called ExpressSend which I think uses the IAT format.  But, they only serve China, Philippines, India, and Viet Nam in Asia.  If you can find a bank that will use IAT, it would be interest to many.

  3. The Pattaya City Expats Club will have a short talk by a lady from Bangkok Bank's HQ on Sunday (29 Sept 19)  in regard to a new program called Thai Baht Remittance Service.  It's supposed to be of special interest to those who used the ACH SERVICE via the New York City branch of Bangkok Bank, which is now not available for most transfers due to US Govt regulations.    Government payments such as Social Security are still permitted, I believe.   Not sure I will be able to attend.   Does anyone have any idea what this new program is?   Thanks in advance.

  4. I've not stayed there, but visited friends.   Most are much bigger in size that other buildings, with nice big balconies.  Some views were obstructed with other buildings, View Talay 7 in particular.   The building is older, thus usually cheaper.   Good location close to many restaurants and the beach.

  5. I understand the "illegal" exhausts that do not have the official TIS stamp on them.   But I have not heard before of illegal alloy wheels and helmets.   Are they illegal because no tax was paid on them (illegally imported), or are they unsafe?   I am unaware of any TIS-type stamp for wheels and helmets.

  6. I've been reading about trying to extend the validity period of a low-use AIS Sim card.   I have read that you can "top up" for as low as 10 baht at a time, plus 2 baht service charge, which would extend the validity by 30 days.    The machines are getting harder to find, but does anyone know of such a machine in Jomtien, or even Pattaya?

  7. I can't vouch for the size, but a good place to start would be Amorn in the lower level (basement) of Tuk.com on Pattaya Tai.  I found a less common size, and they had both batteries and charger for it.

  8. Gary, I am glad you posted this as I have the same problem.   The speedometer bar itself is visible, but not the numbers.   I brought it to Mityon Honda in Pattaya, and was told it needed a NEW SPEEDOMETER assembly.  The "bulbs" are small LED lights on a printed circuit board.  Yes, papa al, an experienced scooter tech might be able to fix, but I think it would require soldering bulbs on a board.   Anyway, I was told I needed a new speedometer.   The cost from Honda:    5,000 baht!!!!    I hope someone has a more reasonable solution.
