  1. Hi

The three best places to get a new pair of cans in BKK:

    1. http://www.munkonggadget.com/ (Probably the shop previous posts mentioned at Panthip Plaza, got more shops around town)

    2. http://www.sanookgadget.com/ Got a few shops, like downstairs at Central Lad Prao

    3. http://www.proplugin.com/ More into upmarket Studio production and live gear, but got a great selection of headphones.

Don't forget to get a good headphone amp... If you don't want to spend too much Fiio just released the E7. It sounds fantastic for under 3000baht.

Got a DAC built in as well, so you can use it with your computer.

    Good luck.

  2. If you want a cheaper alternative, go to the sports department at Paragon.

They have a few two piece rain sets that does the trick.

With a proper rain jacket and pants.

And they're actually better quality than the fake branded rain sets they sell at the bike shops.

They come in a small bag that doesn't take up any space.

  3. I just froyo'd my Nexus One last night trying to solve a connectivity issue that transpired to be in my wireless router! The N1 was the only machine that was having connectivity issues via wifi (finding the network OK but not connecting to internet) so I read in a forum that a o/s upgrade solved a problem for another user.

Anyway, it's much faster, especially with GPRS/EDGE data. When the GPS is on, there's no icon in the top taskbar which is strange as how does one know when it's been left on and draining the battery? The widgets available don't seem to do much more than take you to the place where you turn them on/off as they say GPS is controlled by native programs and not a user turn-on/off anymore.

Didn't see any FM Radio and haven't checked if save to SD is enabled; haven't seen it as an option when downloading apps. Need to check out that wifi hotspot though since my router appears to have issues.

I thing you need to go into settings-applications and from there choose "move to SD".

Let us know if that's how it's done...

  4. Hi Phil,

Well, sorry to hear you didn't appreciate the program.

I too, do NOT like iTunes at all.

Just a little tip, you don't have to import your files into the program library before you transfer them.

Just leave all the sync options unclicked and drag whatever file you want from its windows folder directly.

That should save you some time. :)

Secondly converting/optimizing Video will always take time, depending on your computer.

Your phone is still on network while connected as a drive.

  5. Anyone found a decent video player that can handle MP4? I can kind of open videos and get the audio, but the frame doesn't update. Not sure why.

    I found a solution.

I have a huge video collection mostly .avi files.

I tried all kinds of conversion software but most of them took forever to convert, and when I played it, sound was out of sync or like you said, the picture gets stuck or lag.

    Here's the solution:

    1. Go to www.doubletwist.com

    2. Download the software, install on PC. (It's free)

(It's a sync and converter software that works just like itunes. You can sync your itunes library and other files to all kinds of phones and devices.)

    3. Open Doubletwist software

    4. Connect your Android Phone and choose "Disk Drive" as connection on the phone.

    5. Your android Device will now appear in the list on the left, just like an Ipod in Itunes.

    6. Pick any file you want to put on your device, in this case a Video file. Simply drag it over from its folder to your HTC Android Device and drop it in the video folder and the software will perform the best conversion for the type of file.

If it's a full length movie, it might take a while.

But once finished, your video will appear in your media folder and you can use the original video player on your phone to playback the file perfectly.

    Simply drag and drop!

I was really impressed with the free software, got curious and found out the software was created by DVD Jon.

This Norwegian guy is a legen-WAIT FOR IT-dary hacker who revolutionized DVD copying back in the days when all DVD players and movies were restricted to regions. Remember?

    Anyway, enjoy.

I already put lots of TV shows and movies on my Desire to enjoy when boredom strikes.

  6. Did you have to prepay via bank transfer or did they accept COD ?

Hi, I did the same as you, transfered the money by my intenet banking and my two desires were supposed to be sent with thaiairways today.

so I can pick them up in the morning in Phuket town... I hope nothing went wrong...

You never know here. But he did call and gave me a parcel number. So, so far so good.

    Good luck!

  7. Hi Guys,

I just called BASK1.com and asked if they had any stock. He said yes so I ordered 2 handsets for me and a friend.

I'm in Phuket so they got to be sent down. I hope it doesn't take to long...

    Can't wait!

    Thanks for all info!

    Cheers...

  8. Abix? shop in festival has to have the worst customer service ever - When you can get someone's attention and interupt their snacking or video game playing they have no info or answers for you on when THEIR product will come - just a smile, head shake and "not sure". Went in there last month - "oh coming next month definetly before 15" "coming after Songkran" "coming one more week" "not sure when coming" Jesus Christ get a <deleted> clue! Having a friend in BKK buy it there and send it down rather than buying anything from these retards.

    555!

    That is so true!

I can't belive why no one opens a shop and get some phones from MBK?

You can get phones in BKK on average 6 months before they turn up in Phuket.

Every HiTech nerd in Phuket would line up to get the latest phones, incl. me!

Now the Droid/Milestone and the Nexus are OLD models, I guess by the time you can get them here in Phuket,

Android 3.0 will be out... I don't expect to see the milestone for at least another 3-4 months...

    It's pathetic!

What a perfect description of the Abix shop! Reading your comment was just like standing there.

I don't even bother any more.

yeah it's frustrating because they could have did what I ended up doing today and that's call HTC in BKK where I spoke with sales Khun Nut and he is going to send one down to Abix for me should be here in a couple days. So... Abix do you really want to make a sale or what? Why does THE CUSTOMER have to do the leg work? but I see this all the time here it's like you are bothering someone when you try to give them your money?? It's pretty simple - customer asks question you don't know you call your supplier, find out info, provide customer with info, make sale!!! or continue with just shaking your head and smile hmmmm amazing Thailand :)

    True...

So what phone are you getting? And if you don't mind me asking, at what price?

Been dying to get an Android 2.1 phone here, but none are available yet. The Desire seems pretty cool or the Legend would do...

    Cheers

  10. Dear All, :D

The same questions keep showing up -"Where can I find riding gear, helmets, spareparts, dealers etc.

So I thought, we should have a thread summing up all of the online shops in LOS, hel_l, we should even make it a sticky? :D

Some of them will send all over the country at almost no cost, some are better to visit the shop. :)

Here's a few websites worth looking at.

    http://www.pandarider.com/

    http://www.ninja-shop.net/

    http://www.k-speed.net/

    http://club517supersport.makewebeasy.com/index.php?type=home&language=EN

    http://www.paddock.co.th/osc/index.php

    http://www.dirtshopthailand.com

    http://www.mpkconcept.com

    http://www.competizioni-moto.com/

    http://www.mocyccafe.com/

    http://www.bikestyleshop.com/

That should keep you busy for a few hours. :D

I'm sure you guys in BKK have visited most of these shops. Care to share some experiences?

    Cheers,

    Rooster

  11. dear All,

Could all of u suggest to me the bikes accessories shop in Haatyai or Songkla...thanks in advance... :)

    Hi Ierzan,

There's not alot to choose from around Hat Yai. There's a bigbike shop on the same street as Diana Shopping Mall. Opposite side about 200m south.

They got some jackets, leather and Mesh mostly Alpine Star in bright colors. . Some helmets HJC and Arai etc. Tankpads, some slip ons, gloves etc.

They do have a website with whats in stock, but can't remember the site, and can't be found on Google...

I bought a REAL helmet in Phuket to use as my everyday helmet, have a HJC for longer trips.

On my way home from the shop, I stopped by a friends place for a quick chat. Hung the helmet on the grab bars.

45min later and the helmet was gone...

So now I use my old Index for around town.

It might not be very safe but very practical with built in visors and all.

Wish Real would make one like that. It seemed pretty quiet and comfy, the 20min I got to drive with it...

    Cheers,

  12. The Milestone was on sale at MBK for 28,900Baht.

Apparently sold out FAST, I was a day or two late. Apparently there is ONE still available at Winner Central Pinklao. I didnt have time to go have a look.

And can't really decide if I should wait for Nexus One...

The Milestone are available again end of Jan, when second batch arrives.

    The Android Army is rising...

  13. Stop putting that cheap shit on your chains!

For you guys in Phuket I recommend you all to head down to Big Twin in Phuket town.

Pick up a can of Torco Chain Lube. This stuff stays on no matter what!

It'll set you back 600B, but it's the best lube you'll find around here.

    http://www.torcousa.com/products/productvi...04-e3c35be18387

The cans huge though, will probably last you longer than your bike.

BTW, this stuff is white... Might be the same product Neverdie was talking about?

The guys at our local Kwack shop put some other lube on while I wasn't looking during a service.

I didn't even realize until I got home and noticed my bike completely greased down...

Took me an hour to clean up...

Today while cleaning my bike I managed to drop it! I was working on the front tire....

The clutch lever broke. Drove to our Kwacker and within 15 min, I was out of there with a new lever installed.

    It only cost 470B!

    Awesome.

Can you imagine if I drove some assembled import? Call various bike shops and see If they have one for my specific model -probably not.

Need to import and wait a few weeks and then pay a fortune...

Kawasaki has started a new era of big bikes in Thailand.

    Have a good xmas guys!

  14. Congrats!

But now you'll notice you'll NEVER get pulled over!!!

After I got mine two years ago I think I've been pulled over once. It's almost like I WANT to stop going through a BiB roadblock.

Before I got one, I was pulled over ever week or so...

But still, it's a great thing to have, it even has your passportnr, so if you're flying domestic or going to the bank, you can leave your passport at home.

    :)

    Drive safe though!

  15. Rooster, how heavy is the Z1000? Did you feel its weight when cornering?

The only four I ever rode was a Yamaha Diversion 600. Sweet engine

and with a more acceptable power to weight ratio for me.

What makes you opt for the 1000?

Brute power on these , well, unpredictable streets is not everything.

    Cheers,

    Chris

Hi Chris, that's the thing, you hardly feel the weight at all. It feels so easy to drive and corner. I've spent a lot of time on Honda CB400s, cause they're everywhere here in LOS, and they feel so much heavier.

The midrange pull is just awesome! Looking down a long straight, twisting the throttle to max and by the time you look down on you speedometer, your well over 200kph already. Doesn't take more than a few seconds.

But with great power comes great responsibility... With a bike so easy to manuver, you have to really be careful, it easy to corner too fast and you have no idea how many trucks are doing overtakes in YOUR lane around the bend...

The 2010 model has got a completely new engine, so its not just a detuned zx10 any more. I prefer the black colourscheme though...

It's a bit too much with white, orange and black.

And it's a lot of money....

  16. Hehe, I realize now it looks like an ad.

    Its not.

I'm still considering breaking the piggy bank and getting it.

It's only got 9300km on the clock and is in slightly better condition than the one standing outside HKT motors. That one used to be in Hua Hin. I know because I called on it already back then.

It used to have 9500km on the clock as well! Someone keeps driving it i guess.... :D

I'm surprised you're saying 400K they keep telling me 450k with book! I've been in there several times and they've stayed firm at 450K... (350 without book. Bike doesn't have one yet.)

Old owner in Hua Hin wanted to sell because he's getting into riding tracks and wanted a ZX or something super sport...

This bike I rode is starting at 450K as well...

A new one costs around 550K to import yourself...

Too bad about the Thai emissions!!! I'd sleep alot better, knowing I got service, warranty and spareparts all over the country for next to nothing!

    That's what I love about the ER6N/650R...

dam_n Emissions. It shouldn't be too crazy priced ether if they'd took them in... :)

    Take care

  17. Dear Riders,

Just thought I'd share a nice ride last Sunday.

The Bike was a friends Z1000, he wants to sell it and let me have it for the weekend to see what I thought.

I always had a sweet spot for naked 4s. And the Zs are one of my favorite model.

I'm trying to decide what bike to get and the most obvious choice would be the Er6N but just feel its a bit small. I know it packs a decent punch, but can't seem to fall for it.

Plus the sound of a 4 cylinder bike is something special.

    post-43057-1256288867_thumb.jpg

The low and mid range punch is just awesome! You can stay in 6th gear from 30 to 200kph+.

The last bike I took out was a Honda 900Hornet. Drove it from Phuket to Samui and back over a long weekend last month.

That was a great ride, but the smooth engine and clutch on the z1000 puts it in a whole other league.

Kawasaki just released the 2010 version of the z1000. But doubt Kawasaki Thailand will bring it on the market here.

But wish they had! It looks even better and they kept those awesome quad pipes!

    post-43057-1256289410_thumb.jpg

For you riders in Phuket, PangNga has some absolutely amazing road to ride! Have you driven highway 4 from Tung Maprao just before Kao Lak, and over to PangNga town?

What a beautiful road with some amazing scenery! Its like it was designed for bikes. The whole province is filled with great little roads with lots of twists and turns.

You could easily do a weeks worth of riding and still find new roads every time.

    post-43057-1256290014_thumb.jpg

Anyhow, have a great weekend guys!

    post-43057-1256290485_thumb.jpg

  18. I get my pool salt at BB supply in Phuket Town. Its located opposite Gor Tor Mor nightclub by the big circle. Just 400 from Robinson.

They dont look like much but supply big hotels with everything from chemicals for cleaning and pool supplies etc.

P Laeng is the owner. Good prices as well.

    Cheers

  19. Keeping in mind Phuket Kawi appear to be overpromisers. They told me 1 to 3 weeks for an n, but they want a 50,000 baht deposit, but I have a feeling that after you explain that other shops are only asking for 10,000baht deposit they will come down on that.

I don't think they come with governors.

Thanks for the info, yes, I was told the same, 50,000 in deposit. They told me it was because the shop has to buy the bikes from the Kawa BKK. So if they don't sell it, they're stuck with it.

The same story was used when asking about a test ride.

But seriously, with this kind of price, off cause they'll sell it...

No one knows anything on power restrictions?

And a final question, how come you guys can change your exaust without remapping the fuel mix?! I thought that had to be done with any change to air intake or exausts?!

Thanks alot everyone, hope you had a great weekend!
