1. Why give an amnesty - if you overstay then you have broken the law. You do not do it accidentally you set out to do it so take the punishment. I am all for the law being applied fairly and firmly. A period in the slammer would at least go some way to making sure these people do not do it again but I think it should be a day for day punishment overstay 50 days then 50 days inside. Blacklisting is pointless as it only ensures that the passport does not return to the kingdom it does nothing to stop the person getting a new passport and re-entering under a new name etc etc.

As soon as Thailand does something positriver everyone thinks they do it for money - well I can asure you that most countries have strict immigration laws and they apply them - Thailand tolerates foreigners and we should never forget we are mere visitors in the kingdom and should act accordingly.

Put them in the slammer day for day.

if you overstay then you have broken the law.........ph34r.gif Did you hear about corruption? Some people get a good pay rise when you overstay.Money is the key here.laugh.gif

  2. Of course the chance to have a corrupt judge is possible anywhere. I have seen some strange decisions during my 26 years here, but I have not heard any lawyer ever hint that a judge was for sale. If this is true, it is too sad, as society must have some faith that at least a judge will be impartial and not for sale.

At least anywhere else, you can talk or write about it.

  3. Good on that teacher, at last someone who knows how to keep todays kids in line. Why all the the outrage? It happened all the time when I was a kid, it was the only way the teachers could control us. Never did us any lasting damage, in fact we had a lot more respect for our elders then than the kids do now. Kids don't get much discipline at home (especially Thai luuk-chaai) they are treated like kings by their folks, the parents even standing on buses while the kids sit.

Do you politically correct types want schools in Thailand to end up like some schools in the US and UK where the teachers regularly get beaten up by their pupils? I'd rather see a few unruly pupils caned and the rule of discipline maintained. Give a kid an inch and he'll take a mile.

By the way, I have six kids and they didn't need to be caned at school, they were taught how to behave at home. They've all grown up to be model citizens.

I'm 100 % agree with your opinion.Discipline is a dirty word now days.

  4. Everybody is making a lot of noise now.One generation back it was normal that they did that on schools in several European countries, like Holland.

They caned me me and several friends many times and we never told that to our parents or they caned us as well.

We had a lot more respect for the teachers and police, then it's now with all these soft minded parents.

  5.
@Alant: No, you (normally) stay on the same rates, unless you request to change the contract. This should normally be possible since they will probably have t change their user terms.

The government use the same policy then in laos, but they don't have a democratic government. They are communist and then I understand it.
  6. Yes, i agree 100%. The cop who dont take action is to be fined as well. at least in serious cases.

in may area they never do what they should do. i go by motorbike and wear the helmet rarely. i never got stopped. once or twice in a year they have the helmet control day, there u have to be careful, but after that: business as usual, none cares.

but when it comes to suffering animals and when the proplem can be solved i will take action! and everybody should.

just c the cases when destroying of the last remaining trees of the former rain forest along some roads in thailand (just recently) came to a hold because of some encouraged, committed people took action.

everybody can start something, or just talk around, try to find excuses for (his own?) failing...

The cop who dont take action is to be fined as well.

How long are you in Thailand?

  7. What a load of BS. All these people are, are terrorists. That word is over used these days, but anyone who would kill, bomb, burn the residents and businesses of a city are clearly a threat.

After its all said and done it seems that the reds will lose the respect they had earned, and the bargaining chips they had are gone.

They don't want any respect from you or any farang, because it's not your business.Mind your own business, half of the world is a mash.

  8. Someone here is supporting the Red Shirts? Are you mad? Thaksin is a criminal; he has been legally convicted; he jumped bail; he has been instigating and financing this madness for months or years. He should surrender, shut his mouth and serve his sentence and be very happy the courts did not seize ALL his wealth. The REDS who are setting fire on the main streets of Bangkok should be arrested and jailed for lengthy sentences. I am amazed the government has been so restrained. Were I the head of state I doubt I'd have the patience that this government has shown.

Very patient, only 59 death and thousand hurt, many for life time. You must be a madman.

  9. Can anybody supply me with some of his famous quotes, such as "I have prepared one dance. It's called the 'Throwing a Hand Grenade' dance." That's the only one I've found so far.

"I have now prepared another dance. It's called the 'Dancing On My Grave' dance."

Friends back home, per CNN's description of him being an "opposition leader" aren't getting the real picture. CNN has been frustrating the sh!t out of me lately for their inaccurate, incomplete and misleading "reporting" :)

    Ditto the BBC IMHO.

Then you can better read the Nation, very accurate.....mmmmm
