  1. Technically his flights are over 30 days.. Sure it might work, but being told at check in counter they wont let you fly because they cant tick the right boxes would be more than annoying !!

    Yes that would annoy me!

I booked these flights a long time ago and never even considered the fact it was over 30 days until my itinery came through the post and the 'doubt' was raised on this forum.

It's amazing how the new visa rules could affect someone travelling because of the timeline involved.

I'll be making a call Monday morning to my local friendly Glasgow Thai Consulate!

He's a nice guy too. Sounds like an educated Pom to talk to. :o

    Really..it's a Woman.

Got my visa today and She said that the airline would and SHOULD have refused to let me fly because of the 31 days in my timeline.

So thanks for the advice Gentlemen.

    Cheers..

  3. With a confirmed onward flight out of Thailand within 30 days from your arrival you definitely don't need a visa. Without that confirmed flight, get a tourist visa before you check in for your flight to Thailand.

Incidentally, some Thai consulates ask for a copy of the airline ticket with the application for a tourist visa. You didn't say in what country you live.

I depart from the UK on the 7th January and arrive in Bangkok on the 8th January. I leave Bangkok the 7th of February.

The ticket's an E ticket and with most of these you are supposed to reconfirm the return journey within 72 hours of it.

I was hoping also to have a week in the Phillipines to break up my Month in Thailand. I am Married to a Thai National so I guess I could get a 90 day non immigrant 'O' or the 2 entry tourist visa if the timeline or E ticket was a problem?

I make that 31 days between arriving and leaving again so unless you already have your tickets to the Philippines booked you wouldn't be entitled to a visa exempt entry. If I were you I would either book the trip to the Philippines before leaving or get a visa.

You are correct. The dates could cause a problem. I will try to get a visa before Xmas.

    Thanks for the replies Gentlemen.

  5. hi guys been trying to get an appointment for liverpool for a visa stamp but with no success ,so my other two options would be birmingham or glasgow as i can fly direct to both , but im not sure if they are like hull ? or postal so please let me know thanks

You have to make an appointment with the Woman in the Glasgow consulate.

She doesn't like to part with non imm 'O' visas unless you are Married to a Thai or such. Not as easy as the Hull Consulate.

  6. Can somone tell me,

If a UK resident marries a Thai, can she only apply for a standard visitors visa to UK for 6 months

or, can the Thai apply for a visitors visa for 1 year?

Can the visa be granted when only married for a month,

    Depends on the Visa.

I believe a holiday visa is 6 Months max but FLR further leave to remain is two years.

Not easy getting a visa, even when Married. They have to apply to the British Embassy in Bangkok and they will want absolute proof about the time they have known each other and the British persons ability to fund the Thai Wifes stay if need be.

Lots of bank statements, accomodation and relationship proof needed before a visa will be granted.

I believe a holiday visa is tougher to get than a settlement because the onus is on the sponsor in the settlement application.
