  1. I'll give Bangkok Pizza a ring this weekend and see if their pizza is any good. I have to say, their menu sounds deelish! I've tried ronny's once. Delivery was around 30 minutes, but the sauce was too sweet, and there wasn't enough cheese. On the other hand, I ordered it at like 2am, so that earns it some points. I'll take pics and give review when the time comes.

  2. Thailand, like any country, will have thieves and good honest people. You're probably not going to get mugged wakling down Sukhumvit at any time of night, but that can't be said about all parts of Bangkok. I've never had anything extremely valuable stolen from me (except my cheap mp3 player I carelessly left at the gym), however, a friend of mine had his motorcycle stolen, straight out of his garage. He lives in a mooban in Nonthaburi, and used to bring his bike to a small local garage to get it fixed. The owner of this garage had a teenage son, and he is the one that stole the bike. How do we know that? Because when he stole the bike he was seen by various members of the community. The thing is, no one was willing to testify in court, so there was no official evidence, and nothing my friend could do about it. Most likely that motorcycle is being used for the street races there now. :o

  3. If Thailand really decide to take the next step and block all of Google and Gmail I think perhaps it's time to find a country that's a bit more in line with the times ... :o

I agree. Everyone has to know their own boundaries for 'enough is enough', and when Google gets censored, I'm outta here. It'll just be a sign of things to come.

  4. pattays beach is crap.

if you want a better beach then koh samet is great

Ugh, it's true. Pattaya is a hole. It was nice when my family took me there as a small kid 2 decades ago, but these days I find it quite revolting. Samet is close, cheap, and clean. Your best bet imo.

  5. Yesterday I started to clean up my hard disk and tried to remove unused programs using "Add or remove programs". When I opened the dialogue box I noticed that there were 3 versions of Microsoft Office XP:

Microsoft Office XP Professional 211 MB Last used 3/11 2005

Microsoft Office XP Professional with Frontpage 278 MB Last used 3/11 2005

Microsoft Office XP Standard 173 MB Last used 3/11 2005

Can I delete 2 of the programs and free up hard disk space or should I just leave them? If I delete 2 of the entries will the registry be affected in anyway thus stopping me from using Microsoft Office.

Also I find it strange that the "Last used date" is 3/11 2005 because I use Microsoft Word and Excell almost daily.

Incidentally the same applies for a Java update. I have "J2SE Runtime environment 5.0 Update 2 " and "J2SE Runtime environment 5.0 Update 5". Can I remove Update 2 without problems?

    Thanks for any help.

I wouldn't fiddle with the JRE updates, as they are probably crucial for the program to run. It does, however, look like you have 3 versions of Office installed. Kind of weird. I'd just un-install them all, and then re-install to get a nice clean installation on your PC. It's not really that much of a hassle anyway.

  6. I recently just acquired a new computer, going from an AMD 2500+, 512Mb RAM and an ATI Radeon 9600XT (which was fantastic for the price back then), to a C2D and 2G RAM. Needless to say, this computer came with a <deleted> card (X1300) for gaming, so I'll be picking up the 8800GTS next month or so. Both the computer and the card possess incredible overclocking capabilities, not to mention that the card comes with DX10. If money isn't a problem, then I wouldn't bother with an AGP card these days anymore, though the 7600GT does perform quite well for its money's worth.

Here, I looked up the comparison chart on Tom's Hardware, and the results pretty much speak for themselves:

I guess you get what you pay for.

  7. What a great thread! :o

I just happened to quit exactly 2 weeks ago, so I might as well sign up. I had been smoking for 10 years since I was 13 years old, and for the last couple of years, it's been around 30 a day. I was moving apartments and thought of it as a good opportunity to kick the habit. (Also, my girlfriend was nagging me :D ). I guess my goal is to go one entire year without a drag, though at this point, it seems alot easier than 12 days ago.

  8. An even easier way is to go out of the majestic; hail a taxi and say "pai Lumphini Krap; meter duay Krap"

    :D

I don't think you need to remind them to use a meter unless you're hailing a taxi from Silom :D . I remember one instance in my younger days, when I was at Silom with a couple of friends. We got into a taxi to leave, and he would keep insisting that the meter had broken (after we had left), and I sat in the front seat. I simply pushed the 'on' button on the thing, and it gave a nice little beep and started. Needless to say this cab driver wasn't too keen on starting a conversation with any of us. :o

  9. If you find out, for the love of god, please post the result.

Edit - After a bit of research, I found some relevant info on a thai forum.

    Login - true

    Password - true

Worked for me, so it should for you (we have the same modem) :o

Edit 2 - After you managed to login in with that, you'll notice all of the features are missing. Now paste this (http://192.168.1.1/passWarning.html) into your browser, change the admin password to whatever you like, and voila.

  10. Download speeds vary due to a number of factors. One is the seeds:peers ratio. If there's more seeds compared to peers, you're likely to get higher speeds than vice versa. Also, the upload capabilities of the people you're downloading from. As someone mentioned, port forwarding is advised. However, since my wonderful True modem comes with firmware I can't bypass (and i'm too lazy to go out and get a new modem), I can't. Despite that, I still get the most out of my connection. Typically if a torrent has a good ratio with fast uploaders I'll get 256kb/s down and around 50 up. On average I'd say my torrents average out to 100 - 120 kb/s down.

  11. I wouldn't bother getting a copy just yet. I played the game for about 7 hours and at a certain point when a cinematic is supposed to start it doesn't, and it also freezes if you try to save. I'm just gonna wait another week or two before a new copy, seeing as both of the ones I've got don't work.

    *sigh*

  12. Sorry to revive this one, but I was at MBK yesterday and the updated prices that I was told was:

    Wii - 14500 Baht

    PS3 60Gb - 20500 Baht

Seems like the prices are still dropping steadily. It'd probably be a good idea to pick one of these up this coming holiday season, as I imagine the wii will probably drop under 10k and the ps3 around 16k.

  13. I guess it would also depend on how fast your internet connection is. I'm using the 2.5 mbit line, and for the the most part, I haven't had much trouble with lag/disconnection. It's obviously not going to be as fast as it would be in say Europe or America, but it's playable. GoW is laggy wherever you play it apparently. I've played lost planet on live with a small amount of lag. Winning Eleven was pretty much lag free.
