Anybody been to La Boucherie Chalong? The old horrible Chinese Restaurant? I've seen the menu, looks pricey but if its good, might be worth a try.
Been there twice don't waste your time or money.
If you are going to dismiss a place in that way you should give your reasons.
They advertise that their beef and lamb are imported, so it's going to cost more than your average noodle bar. If cost is your main complaint it would say more about you than the restaurant.
If they don't know how to cook or prepare their food or if the service is bad please elaborate, I'm planning a visit there soon.
Old Croc, if you took the time to read my previous post about the place you would know and understand my reasons, good luck with your meal.

Tried La Butcher steakhouse in Chalong the other day...
Good Steak Not Thai beef...
reasonable price 650 and 750 thb for two different cuts...rib cut and sirloin cut...
was not cooked enough I ate mine she had little bit and we recooked it at home via a doggy bag/box..
Im sure they mixed up the cuts of meat as her small sirloin came on my plate had to trade it around..
and Two things on menu we wanted (béarnaise sauce and caramel cream dessert)
was NO HAB as seems to be the norm in Most Restaurants here in Phuket No Hab most of the menu as offered...
My steak was ok tasty meat and not way overpriced for foreign meat will try this place again for sure
worth a try if in the mood for some good tasting steak
Tried that place twice, first time meat was cold (Like yours) thought i would give them another chance as they had just opened, even worse experience, my wife had Salmon and i had Steak Hache.
The Salmon was rock hard and nearly burnt on the outside and raw on the inside, even though it was a thin fillet proving it had been thrown in the pan frozen and my Steck Hache still had the plastic underneath it showing to me that it had never seen a pan or grill but the inside of a microwave.
First time i complained, second time i blamed myself for going back...... never again.

I'm also a Mount Gay rum drinker. Chalong Bay rum is cheap and nasty. Should be marketed as a cleaning product.
second that
Tried it at a small fishing tournament in Rawai they were a sponsor, my friend said it reminded him of turpentine, i said that was an insult to the good people that make turpentine.

Visited the farm yesterday gates closed so my wife called the lady, what a pleasure that was, i only wanted 300g but she drove out and delivered it, this is obviously a labour of love for her and if anyone else has some salad needs couldn't recommend her enough.

This recent article on a hydronponics farm in Phuket mentions that they grow Italian basil. Could be worth visiting:
Ok, this one helps thanks!

Hi anyone know where i can score some "Italian Sweet Basil" not the Thai Variety?

But you need to be aware that all these speeds quoted are "In Thailand Speeds" if you do a speed test that has not been doctored by the ISP's, such as testmy.net you will find that it is around the 1 - 1.5mb range or lower unless you have Fibre Optic.
It all depends on what you need it for.

Forget the name of the place, but on the small road between TOT office and Chalong and Temple.

Make your own and freeze them. Easy to do and you won't be eating all of the preservatives found in the commercially produced muffins.
Hundreds of recipes available with a Google search.
Not so easy as most homes here dont have an oven! That aside the commercially available flours you buy here are also full of chemicals, as they are in most of the world.
Well, i made some..... you dont need an oven you cook em in a skillet, cast iron in my case turned out great only got the size wrong made em too small will get it right next time, quite easy.
-
Where can i get em?

What is your budget?

I have tried growing Habenero's with varying degree's of success, seem to go great then leaves drop off then die or look like they are dead.

I ordered a Kenwood electric grinder from Amazon, could not find anything i liked here in Phuket or it was too expensive.
BTW for burgers i use a 50 / 50 Chuck, sirloin mix, for my taste this is the best and yes i run it though the grinder twice with the medium plate.
-
I bought my own grinder, no lips 'n' r-soles for me, the difference is worth the extra expence.

Well, try going to the one in Chalong, food and service taken a steep nose dive lately, know of at least 3 people that don't go in there because of service.
After not going in for some months i thought i would try again last week,(the place was empty at lunch time) first the order for food could not be cooked because the waitress could not log on? then we had to wait longer than the whole meal took to cook and eat to get the bill, when it came it was wrong.
Sorry maybe i will try again next year.

"Captain Hook" Chalong?

Call 081-4152701. His name is Oo-ten. Installed my system 12 years ago and has maintained it since.
If the number doesn't work (it's old and I'm offshore), go to Chalong circle. 50 metres on the east side of Chao Fah East Road, you will see Bangkok Bank. There is a wide alley between Bagkok Bank and another bank that is used to park motorbikes. At the end of that is Oo-tens place of several rai of nursery plants. Oo-ten speaks reasonable English. His sister is at the place above and you will need a Thai speaker.
Great! thanks for that, is he familiar with the Hunter range?
