Here is the link from WHO about the virus and it's transmission :-
http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs103/en/
WHO States that this virus has a mortality rate of up to 90% not 60 to 90 as your forum has mentioned as it's intentionally misleading the public.
In terms of West Africans, most reside in Bangkok, particularly Soi 3 which comes to mind.
Thailand must not ignore the facts, as the repercussions would be enormous if they got it wrong.

Thailand must not be complacent, this disease is deadly, and it seems unless the country has a contingency plan in place, then the risk for this disease to spread is high. It only takes one to slip through the net, then you will have a problem. Thailand can ill-afford to sleep on this one, better to take action now before it's too late!
The risk for this spreading is very low indeed, not high as you claim. What action do you want Thailand to take? Ebola is very well contained in a small area and is highly unlikely to spread to Asia or Europe or anywhere outside Africa. Stop spreading false information.
#idnguy, do your homework !
WHO has recently declared this to be a serious situation. If you call approximately 700 deaths, and over 1300 reported cases a small containment then you are seriously misinformed.
Quote "Ebola is very well contained in a small area and is highly unlikely to spread to Asia or Europe or anywhere outside Africa", based on what evidence have you reached to suggest that this has been entirely contained ?
So you think Thailand should just sit back and relax, whilst others in Europe are taking this outbreak extremely serious ?

Air travel can carry the virus, so the authorities should consider vetting those that originate from the countries which are currently on alert for carriers. The risks are far too high if there was an outbreak in Thailand, as the authorities are not geared up for this type of emergency.

Personally I think those jobs should be filled by other Europeans, I'm not sure why Scandinavia is handing over jobs to Thais ?

Cooking gas has risen significantly over the past year from 330 baht to 390 baht, and now to 420 baht per normal tank.
So I wondering how the company could be making such a loss ?

One wonders if she will ever return at all. Like her brother, it seems making large amounts of money at the expense of the country is becoming a family trait.

Hardly a surprise, the writing was on the wall what the outcome would be.
What was a surprise, instead of the throwing the perpetrators in Jail, rotting away in the same fashion as the rice, what do they do?
Grant them the right to travel to have party time in Paris, no doubt celebrating their new found wealth from yet another money-making SCAM !

Never mind the love, we need to start giving 'the people', the same benefits that the small percentage of the population solely enjoy at the other's expense.
A decent education, and adequate health care would be a good start !

This rise was certainly on the cards, and in line with many other Asian countries.
The rise in inflation is primarily to do with public borrowing on all levels, and to the fact that many don't pay their tax and put into the pot.
The days of Thailand being a cheap country are almost at an end.

If the consumption of alcohol was banned I could understand, but to ban the purchase when most stock up beforehand seems to defeat the object.
Can somebody help me out here, and explain the logic ?

Yes I looked at this website ...
1) I wonder if it could load more quickly (from Europe it's dead slow)?
2) I wonder if they can make it to look more professional?
3) I wonder if they would properly translate it in English?
4) I wonder if they could make it compatible with popular browsers?
5) I wonder who this website is directed towards, just Thais?
6) I wonder who mentioned it was key tourist site?
7) I wonder if this is going to attract more tourists?

Poor water management is to blame. Thailand did invite advisors from the best country for the job, which is Holland but nothing materialized.

I have always thought Thai TV soaps as some form of slow torture of enduring rubbish. Besides when it comes to morals, that is the pot calling the kettle black.
I have never seen so many guns popping out of nowhere to settle a dispute, which is rather inappropriate don't you think ?

Do they actually work in Thailand ? Or is it one long holiday ?

Rotten rice to go with the previous rotten government. They should all be thrown in jail !

How to kill off tourism in a few easy steps. If the word gets around in the international media, then you can kiss goodbye to your high season.

Apparently there are new guidelines in place that stipulate the following conditions of employment:-
- You need to be straight as an arrow (not corrupt).
- Able to enforce the law.
- Follow orders from your superior.
Spokesperson representing human resources have remarked that so far they failed to get any enquiries yet ! :-)

EU farang has no where to go to buy grade A quality sea food at a decent price.
Hence EU farang has to claw back to Thailand on their knees.
Are you kidding ? We have wonderful seafood in Europe and USA, besides there is also seafood from other Asian countries and South America, in fact everywhere of the same standard. Thailand is not the only one producing.

Actually this is not the EU’s problem, this is our problem, and we should first be given the opportunity of sorting out our problems “The Thai Way” before we are condemned by the western world. Do we ever interfere in their problems? I think not.
As the old saying goes ... 'the customer is always right' meaning the EU. If you want our custom, then stick to our rules. If not, and keep spewing out the rhetoric 'The Thai Way', and we will reciprocate by telling you it's either our way, or the highway !

Amazing how the Metrological Department can predict so far ahead. Perhaps they have employed a local fortune teller, or maybe the Chief has an amazing crystal ball with mystical powers stuffed in the wardrobe. Yes, if you can determine the weather patterns so accurately, then I would agree. Unfortunately us mere mortals have to rely on scientific evidence, rather than hocus pocus ideology.

Certainly for any large amount of money to be transferred will need the co-operation of the bank. Therefore it is safe to assume they are indeed part of the problem.
Clearly the mop for cleaning all the house of corruption needs to be larger than anticipated if he's to keep to the schedule.

You would hardly call the hordes of Englush.,Aussie,German etc tourists high end either - tourists come hear because it's cheap!
Sent from my i-mobile IQ 2 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
Correction, they used to come here. Cheap is not what comes to mind these days. Two-tier pricing system, inflation which has rocketed has meant it has become expensive. I can eat (my own food), drink, and rent a place in Europe far cheaper than say Phuket. I also save on Parks which are free in Europe as with many other attractions. Churches are free (if you visit them), in Thailand the Royal Temple you must pay if your a foreigner (Thais not). Taxis in Phuket are the same prices in Europe, and there are many more examples.
If Thailand wants to attract more tourists (evidently they are not), then you must start changing your policies. Fair price restructuring would be a good start rather than penalizing the foreigners with dual-pricing.

Perhaps modeling an education system that meets the 21st century would be a better solution. Since the curriculum
and the method to which it is taught is unquestionably inadequate. They could partly adopt a policy based on neighbouring
countries like Singapore which have proven record of consistency, and high standards.

Another well-executed SCAM at the expense of the people. I wonder if we will ever know how much revenue was gained from this exercise ?
Is there no end to which those perpetrators will invent new ways to con the Thai public ? What a carry-on !
