These six teenagers stopped their motorcycle long enough to have their picture taken, and then they slowly rode off down the street.
I've seen six children on a bike before, but six teenagers - that is something! Great shot!
Keep em coming folks!

And I really cannot figure out the significance of this phallic monument.
HAHA! Drive past it quite regularly, and it never ceases to have me in stitches! Who knows what goes on in that MooBaan.

I'm sure you could, and for the sake of a debate, I'm sure it would.

So you go to clubs for the toilet scene? Interesting. I always see some guys hanging out in there, not really sure what they are up to, nor do I want to find out. To each their own. I go for the music, atmosphere and the scenery, the scenery on the dance floor that is.
Hmm... me thinks Vibe doth protest too much.
I can merely appreciate a decent toilet in a club. Actually a decent toilet anywhere in Thailand, for that matter.
Cloaking?? What does that even mean? This is not some online fantasy game that you play, its real life. Its racial discrimination plain and simple. What, never seen Asian backpackers? You think they would get charged? No, they would not. As I said, I was with a Canadian/ Japanese guy that they knew was not Thai, yet he did not get asked to pay.
cloak [verb trans] (figurative) hide, cover, or disguise (something) : the horror of war was cloaked in the trappings of chivalry.
Personally I wouldn't say it was racial discrimination. It's economics. That is it's justified in terms of profitability, before you ask.
There's two tier pricing all over Thailand, from tuk-tuks to temples. But obviously with you having been here so long, and married to a Thai, blah de blah, you never get gouged, do you?
Funny, I went to Fabrique with a Korean guy, and he had to pay.
If they straight up refused entry to caucasians, then it would be racial discrimination. See the difference? :jap:
On a similar side note, apparently in that Irish bar at the end of Khaosan Rd, have started charging the Africans to get in, in a bid to put them off. Why? Cause they sell drugs, piss the customers off, and generally make a nuisance of themselves. Is that racist? No, it's called keep the d*ckheads out, keep the customers happy.

I really don't see the problem. You pay 300 baht...and you get 300 baht credit towards drinks. So unless you're planning on not drinking...which if that's the case just go somewhere else....why is this an issue?
Judging by some of the sh*t spewed in the other thread, it seems to be an ego thing, i.e. How dare they charge ME when they are not charging THEM. How dare they think I am a tourist!
With the option of cloaking it as a "racist" issue.
I'd say the toilets in Fabrique are worth the 300B entrance fee alone. Very spacious, always soap and tissues there to wash your hands. Like my old Gran used to say, you can judge a place by its toilets.

It was about 4 months ago I went. Fairly recent. I remember the price for the aircon room was more expensive than the fan room.
Still 120B/hr is hardly going to break the bank, and I think you would be hard pushed to find a better massage at that price.

Great pictures laasmoi! Where on earth do you live? Very nice.

Thanks for your contribution.

300 to get into Fabrique is akin to paying $10 to get into a McDonalds or KFC back home.
Your wit and charisma really shine through in the parallel you have drawn there. Can't remember the last time I heard such a good put down. Mind if I use that as my own, mate? :jap:
Let the wannabe Hi-So's have their pretend club. Truth be told most of them wouldn't stand a chance at getting into any decent club outside of Thailand.
Yeah! take that you god dam_n wannabe Hi-So Thais.
Stop being such a bunch of whining bitches and pay the 300B. Drink your drink coupon and enjoy the place. Enjoy the two huge club rooms and the big outdoor area. Get a table, get a bottle, and if you speak "reasonably good Thai"; get chatting. Help improve their awareness of the world, pour them a glass from your bottle, "crash glasses" and ease their insecurities. <deleted> it! Even each them some English while you're at it.
You never know, you might just get laid. It sounds like you both need it.
Or end up in Spicy with all the other bitter, boring farangs, spitting shit to barking bargirls.

This is what Thais call พูดเหน่อๆ 'phut noe noe' ... often attributed to Farang, Luuk Kreung and young girls around Siam that are trying to sound 'inter'. The ช ช้าง moves back in the mouth, along with many other consonant and vowel sounds.
Is there any audio recording of this you have...? Thanks.

Interesting topic! I've heard what Gaccha is talking about once, while teaching a class of teenagers. The topic of foreigners speaking Thai came up, and one girl said คุณสวยมาก pretty much as Gaccha described it - deep monotone voice, with uniform vowel lengths. That's as far as it went though, and I've never heard it again since.
However, personally I enjoy mimicking farangs butchering the Thai language, it's become somewhat of a hobby. Quite often when I speak to my wife in Thai, I do so in a upper-class English accent, lengthening the short vowels, pronouncing the vowel sounds the way a posh English person would, aspirating the final consonants, losing all the tones and using English intonation patterns. It amuses me no end!

That bike is amazing! How much were they asking for it?
ps ... ill buy a beer for anyone who can tell me where this brand new ,,, probably thai only snooker hall is !
My guess is it looks like something you might find behind Kam Tieng plant market, on that road with all the pot holes.

Yeah, I believe you, honest, I do

Blind massage in Santitham (near the roundabout, sorry can't be more specific). 100 Baht an hour. I've only been once (recently), but it was probably the best back massage I've ever had. It hurt at the time, and for a day or so after, but after that the pain and stiffness was gone.
It seems that it is true that once one sense is diminished, the others are sharper.
-
The very ones! Nothing can surprise me anymore Dave2. Are you FBI? DEA? CIA?
-
Took the bike up there yesterday. Took the Chiang Dao, Fang route on the way there, which was nice. Chiang Rai on the way back.
Hot up there though, got slightly sunburnt hands and knees!
There's another quite good duty free booze shop. If you go down the steps into the market, go straight ahead and take the first left, it's on the left hand side. Had small cans of Guiness for 55Bht, and small bottles of Hoegaarden for 45Bht. Tables outside for drinking, glasses provided.

Try any metal fabrication shop, they are all over the place. They'll knock you up something for around 1,000B.
Failing that, I've noticed one metal shop on the river road - go past Dukes and not long after Rimping on the left hand side. They have fair sized bbqs sitting outside.
There's also a place near Chiang Mai gate that sells smaller bbqs. On the inside moat road, go past the food court area, and at the gate turn left. Then take your first right. There are two shops, one on the corner and one opposite it. I think they are both owned by the same person. They have smaller bbqs for around 700/800B.
Those bbqs in Tops and Rimping are ridiculous. 40,000B+!! Even if I had that sort of money to throw around, I wouldn't spend it shiny soulless gas bbq

The Monkey House.
Does anyone know when his trial is?
I don't know the fellow but I ran into some other fellows who apparently do. It is my understanding that he pled guilty to whatever he was charged with and was sentenced to 16 years and is currently in gaol in Mae Rim. I don't know if that sentence is the 50% off sentence one gets for confessing and pleading guilty or if his true sentence is 50% of that. Not good in any case.
You'd prefer that he was still out there, selling dope?
All very off topic too, this is about burgers, not drugs.
Where exactly did you glean that from? He was merely relaying the information he's heard. However, I'm pretty sure there is a large number of people who would prefer that.
How is it off topic? Bob ran a burger bar. And dam_n tasty burgers me made too. I for one miss the philly cheese steak with chilli on top.

Dave2 again with the picture! incredible! Are you a photojournalist? Or just a wannabe?
Is the restaurant going to occupy the whole corner unit then? Pretty prime real estate, to be fair. Must cost a pretty penny, surely reflected in the food prices.
Can't comment on Woody's burger, but Mike's is absolutely appalling junk. And no matter how hungry I might be, there's no "food" to be had in 7/11. Sticky rice pork burger? <deleted> off!

Dave2 - is there anything in CM you don't have a picture of??!! Thanks very much!
Thaimiller - 3 week guarantee, help! Did that not set the alarm bells in his head ringing before he bought it?!
-
Thanks for all the replies. I will try those numbers and report back.
Greenside: From Thaimiller's tale it doesn't seem that buying a cheap one is a particularly good idea. What is it they say... Buy good, buy once?
Thaimiller: Did the guy get a replacement/repair from the guarantee?
