  1. I'm considering part exchanging my current ranger manual gear for an auto gear.2.2 xlt model.

Just wondering if yo guys owning the auto model are happy with it? My legs getting a bit tired nowadays so looking for an easier drive.

    Thanks for any thoughts....

I have an auto ranger wt 2.2 which is the same engine as the model you are considering.

We drive a lot around pattaya and an auto is the way to go, my wife also can't drive a manual (well she never tried).

Since it's not a race/sports car why bother with manual trans., I don't think I will ever own a man. trans. car/truck again.

You can change the gears manually in the auto model if you want.

After just spending a few days at Koh Chang with new auto ranger,I must say I'm thrilled with auto box,it handles the hills there with ease and auto gear changes are smoother than I thought they would be...

  2. I bought my new car on finance with Tisco finance,(Ford Ranger).

I paid the finance off after 5 moths, during that 5 months Tisco held the blue book, after paying off the balance I then had to pay 1,200 baht to Tisco for the transfer of the book into my name fee,and also supply them with an up to date proof of residence form from immigration,as well as sign a few documents for the transfer,I received the book apx 2 weeks later.

If your buying it from a non thai person then I should imagine the procedure will be similar..or thai, similar but no immigration doc required..

  3. Thankyou both very much for your replies.

I have the blue book and contacted the PEA with that and the new chanotte,

Just after I posted yesterday a guy connected with the PEA turned up at the house and measured 15 meters from the nearest pole to the consumer unit,he said the 15/45 supply would be ok for the house.

I have 2 air cons currently,a swimming pool pump @ 750 watts,2 x 6 kW water heaters,(shower)plus the usual appliances,tv fridges etc.he said this would be fine and could also add an extra AIRCON unit or 3 in the future.his quote was 12.000 baht to wire from the pole,15 meters cable and needed to sort a ground earth out, otherwise the installation would not pass.

Not sure if this price is reasonable or I should ask another electrician for a quote,???

Total will be apx 17.000 after paying for meter installation and his work...

    Thankyou....

  4. Hi,I bought a house which has been part of another property which has always had its electric supply from the main house.ive now got the land separated on a new chanotte and require a new electric supply and meter from the electric company installing.

As far as I can make out the new supply will suffice with a 15/45 15 amp meter ,which will be apx 4700 baht from the PEA.

IM presuming now that I will first need to get an electrician in to make sure the house I has a safe set up before the PEA will connect the meter.??

Also is it my responsibility to pay for the wiring etc from the meter on the pole outside the house to the consumer unit??and have an electrician do this for me??

Last question,do the Pea put the meter on the pole first or do they come to do this once everything is ready from the house to the meter.??

Any advice would be greatly appreciated..oh and my location is Pattaya.

    Thanks very much...

  5. Well,I took the plunge and got the new Ranger Auto today, have only driven it 50km but so far the auto box feels great, and the car feels easily as responsive as the manual box but smoother, bye bye manual gearbox lol...

I got the metropilatan grey, love the colour,it seems to look black sometimes, dark grey and very dark blue depending on the light..Just drove 100 km in it this morning.drives lovely..

    You'll love it, what color?

Congt. on your new truck, that was fast! I waited 8 month for mine but it was worth it and I got it to old price.

I guess many dealers have stock now.

Thanks, yep they have a lot of stock now,so just took only 2 days.i bought the low rider xlt manual in February this year as ford couldn't get me a hi rider auto for love nor money at the time?been a costly experience upgrading as the turn price on the first pickup was rather crap from fords Tent men,and most other tents I asked a price from, tried to turn it for a Toyota ,there tents offered me even lower money for it.

I can sympathise with Spoonman about Ford, there service really is poor, and trying to get extras out of them is like trying to bleed a stone.but to summarise,I do like Fords and I still think the Ranger drives and looks nicer than Toyota ,so onward we go with Ford....

  7. You could call into a Toyota and Honda dealer, and give them the exact car details and ask them what they'd give you for them in part ex for a new car, they will call there local Tent second hand car buyers and come back with a price,

You can then offer a bit higher than that for the car,or cars,as the Tent buyer will be looking for some profit at the price they offer..

  8. Go to Somdet government hospital in SIIRRAACHA,arrive at 7 am and get into the system first and then the front desk will refer your girlfriend to the appropriate specialist.can be a bit of a wait, but the doctors there are quite professional.,and the costs are minimal..

Forgot to add,go directly to the outpatients building directly on the left as you enter the hospital gateway.the doors open at 7 am,and there are normally many people queuing,so if you arrive earlier than that you have a better chance of been seen by the doctor in the morning, after registering etc,you can go to eat outside, then go back in at 9am as most doctors start to arrive around 9 am onwards..

  9. Sherawood is pretty easy to work with, best way to cut it is with an angle grinder with a tile/brick cutting disc in.drilling it is easy with Bosch multi purpose drill bits.

I normally use a wooden frame then clad it with sherawood.

    Around 250 baht a pack at homepro/homeworks

  10. I have a thai registered in my companies tabien baan,it wasn't as simple as putting a Thais name in a tabien baan owned by a thai, but is possible, you will need your lawyer to present some paperwork from your company, this was about 6 years back but it cost 1000 baht for the documentation from the lawyer, sorry I can't be more specific, this was made at Pattaya city hall by the way..

  11. I'm just on my second zinsano Atlantic ,the first one lasted me 6 years, and only burst one hose as it got rubbed on the rough ground a lot.replacement hoses are 400 baht, but have to be ordered from BKK,taking up to 10 days delivery, stupid none of the shops that sell them carry spares for them, but for the price, roughly 6,400 baht,it's done a lot of work thus I bought another..by the way, there not Italian,it might say there's some relation to Italian technology, but there not..
