i just noticed the 1st link is actually from the Thai Embassy in KL.
When I used to live in Thailand, I seem to remember seeing rules differning depending on what country the Thai Embassy is in.
eg: Vientiane was so easy, compared with Hong Kong and Singapore.

Is it possible that KL is just saying these rules,, but in fact other countries may allow it ?  or do you think this is pretty 'set in stone' (in every Asean Thai Embassy) for iranians ?

The KL embassy is the only one nearby showing the ability to apply and wait 4 weeks for approval. But they are not accepting applications for non-ed visas at this time. http://www.thaiembassy.org/kualalumpur/th/services/99060-Visa-Requirements-I.html

ok, I understand. (and thank you for digging up these useful links).
I suppose that the 60 day tourist visa is also included in this ?
and i'm guessing it also means that iranians can't get the 30 day visa on arrival.
Am I correct with both assumptions ?

its a pity the thai embassy in malaysia is off limits,, but i guess it will be ok again after covid-19 is over.  But it means waiting in malaysia for 4 weeks.

I often forget how easy I had it when I was in Thailand!  (i'm from the UK).
really sucks for iranians who want to travel or live abroad !

  3. [this is for an iranian friend] - I'm trying to give him some helpful advice.

His current Non-B (90 day) visa finshes in May.

     - He was cheated out of a lot of money, so he had to close his business, but wishes to stay in Thaialnd for 1 year.

Currently he will be fine (on his existing visa) until May,  (and perhaps longer if covid-19 continues).

But after that he needs a visa of some sort.

I suggested the ED visa.  (study Thai with a school that includes the visa).

But, because he is Iranian, does this pose any problem ?

I used to do my visa-runs in Vientiane (Laos), but I have no idea if Iranians are allowed there.

Where would be the best Embassy for him to go ?  (for when he needs to do a visa run).

Becuase all the schools are currently closed, its impossible for me to find out any info on this matter.

I'm kind of hoping that somebody may know anytyhing specific to Iranians.

    Thank you very much  ????

  4. A friend has overstayed for 2 years.  (European Passport).

She wants to leave Thailand and go back to Europe to live.

Is it better that she books her one-way flight and pays 20,000 at Suvarnabhumi Airport ?

or, would it be better for her to go to The Immigration at Chang Wattana and pay it there first ?

If she goes directly to the airport for a one-way flight, because its 2 years overstay, will she likely be detained for questioning and being told-off for a few hours that she will miss her flight?

or do you think the whole thing is the same process as overstaying a few days and just takes 10 mins ?

What is the chance that they may refuse her to leave Thailand and detain her ?

      - She got scared because another foreigner told her that recently the Thai Immigration is making people pay MORE than 20,000 baht.  (sometimes a 100,000 baht!!)

I'm sure this is just a made up story, but has anyone else heard about immigration charging MORE than 20,000 ?

She is aware she will get a 3 year ban.  (But she isn't worried about that).

    Thank you for your help.

There is a hard limit of two visa exempt entries by land in any one calendar year.

There is no explicit limit on visa exempt entries by air, but you may encounter problems if the immigration official believes you have used too many, and are abusing the visa exempt process. Whether you have problems will depend largely on the immigration officials you encounter.

      Thank you ;)

  6. just checking (as I am out of touch with the latest thai visa rules).

ie:  a person can only have a maximum of TWO visa-exemptions per year.

and this includes arriving at Suvarnabumi airport from an international flight.  (just 2 per year).

so,, anyone wanting to have frequent trips to thailand must get a 60 days tourist visa,, (even if their holiday is a week or two, each time) ?

    is this correct ?

    Thank you

I have a friend in Immigration, too. My friend is better than your friend. For overstays less than 1 year please give me 25,000 THB. For overstays more than 1 year it will be 25,000 THB plus 17,795 THB for each additional year. You may round this off to the nearest 1000 baht. I'm looking forward to solving your overstay problems in Thailand. African Countries are welcome. No more than 20 years of overstay please!

tongue in cheek? or real ?

i assumed it was a joke, until you gave a limit of 20 years maximum overstay.. Lol

Plenty of wealthy Thai friends in the film industry but also plenty of Thai friends from poor backgrounds, I would say neither group are more inclined to leave Thailand, but also I come to the question without any deep rooted prejudices. The fact remains wealth and education is considered more reliable than culture and family. The only Thais I have ever heard express a desire to leave Thailand have been the wealthy.

i think its safe to say that the Girl who has been rejected in this visa application is NOT an actress or has ever had a good job (as the application refusal letter clearly states that she has LESS than 1,000 pounds savings.

Do they mention a price for this service?

I was curious, so i wrote to them asking for info:
This is what she said (in her messages to me):

Need new passport, old passport and paper from embassy

    Cost overstay since:

    2016 cost 45,000

    2015 cost 50,000

    2014 cost 55,000

    2013 cost 60,000

    2012 cost 70,000

Need time 4-5 weeks for fix overstay
After clear overstay can have T.30 (ผ.30)

After finish clear overstay she can do visa

I REPLIED:   "really?  you can clear Overstay (1 year or over)?  The person will not get Blacklisted for 3 years ?"

    SHE REPLIED:
I can do. Need 3-4 weeks for fixed
Last one German guy I have to clear overstay for him. And now he leave country go to Philippines can go by airplane no problem.

  10. I saw an advert on a Bangkok Facebook Group page,  by a Visa Company/Service.

They claim to be able to CLEAR large overstays.

i contacted them and they said they cant do Africa and some other countries. but they can do most Western Countries.

They said that the person needs to get a NEW passport and then they can CLEAR their overstay in the old passport (no matter how long overstayed it is).

and then you get a 30 day basic stamp in your NEW passport.

    is this a Scam ?

they said the person will NOT get any Ban or Blacklisted... (even that it is a long overstay of months or years).

i can only imagine some kind of loophole,, or perhaps someone has a "friend" at immigration.

but if its a "friend" at immigration, then why cant they do an African country  and limited to only certain countries  ?

she sent me copies of "other peoples" success passports and stamps to prove that she can do what she claims.

it seems like a corrupt type of thing.. but (on the other hand) maybe its 'just another loophole' (similar to setting up a fake business to get a business visa).

  11. UPDATE:

I think I have decided to Fly out and back in. (as it seems to be more guaranteed to get the 30 day exemption)... and it avoids the long minivan ride.

if you were to do a round trip flight (from bkk) to get a for a 30 day Exemption, which destination would you choose?

(i will do it WITHIN the same day).

(Malaysia has a free entry visa, so would this be the best choice) ?

  12. 43 minutes ago, ubonjoe said:

You don't qualify for a 15 day visa on arrival.

You can get a 30 day visa exempt entry at a border crossing. You can get two of them per calendar year at a land border crossing by air there is no limit.

There is no rule that prohibits them being done back to back.

Poi Pet is not the choice to do a crossing. Ban Laem or one of the other crossing would be better.

You can extend a 30 day visa exempt entry for 30 days at a immigration office.

i just googled " Ban Laem" and its 30 mins further from Bkk than Poipet.

I can barely hack the brain-numbing round-trip bus-ride to poipet. so maybe I will search for an alternative.

I guess my alternative would be to Fly in-out.

Are you saying that its pretty much guaranteed if I fly in-out and get the 30 day exemption ?

would you go for a Malaysian round trip ? or Burma ? Lao? Cambodia ?

Malay has no visa entry, but more expensive flight.

if you were to do a round trip flight from Bkk for a 30 day Exemption, which destination would you choose?

as always, thanks for your suggestions :)

  13. I have a UK Passport.

i have been doing TOURIST VISAS  for the last few years.  (BUT I did get a 30 days TRANSIT VISA about 6 months ago in my OLD Passport).

in my CURRENT NEW PASSPORT (which i got 4 mths ago) i have the following:

    (in the following order)

    • 1 x Tourist Visa
    • 1 x 30 days 'visa-on-arrival' (from Poipet) , and Extended 30 more days at Bkk Immigration.

I know I am allowed to do TWO 'visa-on-arrival' per a year.

but,,  Are they allowed to be CONSECUTIVE ?

if I go to Poipet again on my upcoming Visa-Run, will they give me the 30 day visa-on-arrival ?

or is it a much safer bet if I FLEW in and out (rather than Poipet) ?

    also:
would the 30 day Transit Visa (in my OLD passport) be counted as part of the "2 per year" ?

    Many Thanks :)

Start business with 1000 baht.   Lollllllll

    Made my day.  Brilliant farangs.

Petchou:  Are you a Thai person ?   I think you have completely mis-understood the question !!

This question is NOT about making a successful business.

it is about "finding a way to get a Visa to stay here".

Also: Even if someone wants to start a business with 1000 baht, then why do you think this is funny ?  There is nothing wrong in starting a business with 1000 baht!! Did you know that MANY of the most wealthy people in the world started with NOTHING.

if the product or service is good and the price is good, then Anyone can be successful.

you do NOT need to start a business with 1 million baht to be successful.

I can tell you that MANY people close their company in the first few years of opening their business.

and other people will grow their business.

you laugh at 1000 baht business, so it shows your lack of understanding about the world.

Money in the bank does NOT equal a successful business.

Brains in the head and a good instinct will help you more than money will.

But, anyway...   the question was about "finding an easy way to achieve a visa". So the idea is about setting up a TINY company.

and I am happy about many of the replies that people are giving me.

yours is the only reply that was unhelpful.

But, if you are Thai person and not native english speaker, then ok,, maybe you mis-understood the question.

but you did show your inexperience of business by thinking 1000 is not enough to start a business.

a business does not need to have an office or large shop.

look at the guy "Joe Ades" in new york that sells Potato Peelers on the streets every day and he became a millionaire and lives in a condo on Park Avenue.

    (video below)

i hope you learn something from it.

If your goal is to setup a business and the visa is just a perk then it's with pursuing.

If your goal is to get a visa and the business was a means to this end you may find it not worth pursuing and may find it better to seek alternatives

    why?

if you found a simple(ish) way to avoid the tourist visa runs every 3 months, whats wrong with that ?

but it seems already (from these replies) that the information I received yesterday from my friend was incorrect anyway.

so it looks like there is no "easy way"

As a retiree who has to keep B800,000 dead money in a bank account to get a 12 month stay, I would be very pissed off if you could get a long term visa for 30+ bucks!

Strange enquiry by someone who has been a member here for 10 years and has 1000 posts!

my american friend just sprouted this idea on my yesterday.

he said he spoke to an accountant here that said he "automatically gets visa-rights if he sets up a company with a 49% investment share".. and I told him that I thought his idea was incorrect..

i mentioned to him that he needs 2 million baht and 4 thai staff to get a visa for himself.

but he was insistent that my information was incorrect.

hence I am asking here to verify it.

... If you will be working in the company, you may be able to get a Non B visa and work permit. However, there are various additional conditions that need to be met.

    .

    What is your nationality?

If, for instance, you have US nationality, there are special options available under the Thai-US Treaty of Amity.

    i am british.

and my good friend from USA also wants to do the same.

so would it be easier for him to do than myself ?

regarding your first point:  if i am a 49% shareholder, and I DO want to work in this company, then are the 'additional conditions' fairly easy to achieve? or do they also require a multi-million baht investment ?  or is it just a few simple forms ?

  18. Background:

My British friend has been in Thailand for about a year....

He did a few back to back "visa-exemptions" , ending about 7+ months ago.

he has since been doing Tourist Visas (for the last 6 months).

he is currently in Bali and the Thai Embassy in Bali is CLOSED until January 8th.

But he wants to be back in Bkk before New Years Eve.

    Question:

if he flys back to Bkk in a few days time, will they reject him (based on his prior back-to-back visa exemptions from 7+ months ago) ?

or is it not a problem?

he is wondering if he should fly from Bali to Lao and apply for a visa..

but I told him to just fly to Bkk and if he gets rejected, then he can fly to Lao as a back-up plan.

    any thoughts ?

    Appreciated.

    Thank you
