  1. Just back from KK Imm Office.

Last year 800k in KBank and extension issued in 20 mins. This year changed to 12 x 65k. Visited bank this morning without prior notice and given an annual statement and proof of account letter after parting with 300B. Arrived at the office to find I was second in the queue and left within 30 mins after the inevitable extra photo copy.

No adverse comments and all pretty painless.

What is the reason for the rejection? My son's rejection email had the following:

"Thailand Pass system has rejected your registration due to Please upload paid hotel reservation confirmation that includes RT-PCR test

If you would like to make adjustments or attach additional documents, please re-register via the following link:

    https://tp.consular.go.th"

Is this similar to the reason your application was rejected?

Yes. Very similar so I reapplied merging jpgs and got a similar rejection saying, 'cannot read.'

I have now printed all docs and scanned again rather than exporting pdf as jpg and created a composite image with PCR receipt and hotel confirmation. I've been waiting 2 days now and check the website constantly.

My wife also received her TP within hours of applying  using the same docs that are now rejected when I submit them!

  3. Thanks for responding GT.

Yes, Emirates is an AIG policy doc and clearly states my name. I believe it's been widely used for TP and COE which is why I booked an Emirates flight.

My hotel confirmation letter has my flight number and transfer to hotel.

Did you upload combined docs? I'm assuming the system scans uploads and my reject or fail to read composite images. I need to speak to a human but no one is responding to my emails or answering calls!

  4. Can somebody help?

I've had two rejections so far for insurance and hotel accommodation but have not been given the reasons why. I have a booking for a Phuket hotel and confirmation letter but it does not include PCR testing. I have booked airport testing separately and have combined the receipt with the confirmation letter as a JPEG. Is this likely to work?

My AIG insurance is provided by Emirates and states covid cover for 390,000 GBP. Could it have been rejected as not being 50,000 USD?

I'd be grateful for any suggestions. I've tried emailing TP support, my hotel and tried calling the helplines all without success.

I'm due to fly 7 December but rapidly loosing all hope!

  5. Thanks Ajarn. It was overcast late morning. I'm familiar with Buzzards in the UK and this appeared a fair bit bigger with broader wings. Longish wedge shaped tail when soaring. Definitely not a kite. I've got a decent pair of bino's and there was no hint of any markings under.

The only other raptors seen around regularly are Besra, Shikra and Black Shouldered Kite.

Lots of other movement going on at the moment. I've had a Brown Shrike visiting the garden the last few days and wagtails and swallows passing through.

  6. A question for the resident experts.

I've just seen a very large raptor passing high over my garden soaring/gliding eastwards towards Chumphae. I was able to grab binos and follow it for a minute or so. It seemed a uniform black with very distinctive widespread 'fingers.' Looking through Robson and the iPad it looks like it may have been a Black Eagle. Is this likely in a semi urban area.  Are they migratory. I'm on the Khon Kean/Chaiyaphum border not far from Phukeow/Nam Nao parks as the crow, err, eagle flies.

I guess there is a big difference between cycling for pleasure and cycling against the clock to make money. Especially in the rain, which London has a bit of.

I can handle the rain, it's Addison Lee and other 'professional' drivers that spoils my London commutes.

  8. My 18 year old stepson was granted a UK visit visa recently. His passport application was delayed by his father who initially wanted paying off but then later relented and signed the passport application form. The passport office advised that the father would also need to give consent for his son to travel and this was provided on a separate form  signed by both parents and stamped by the local amphur.

When we submitted  the visa application in July, I did not include the travel consent as there was no requirement for it in the visa application form. However, while working through her checklist the VFS girl processing the application asked for it. Luckily we had it with us and it was copied and included.

Now, I'm no expert. I don't know whether consent's a legal requirement for those under the age of majority or not. We just followed passport office advice. The above is my experience and, to be on the safe side, I'll make sure we have the document with us when checking in later this month.

  9. Agreed, and while on the dangers of cycling in Thailand. How about the momentary blindness and loss of control you get when passing a street stall just as the operator hurls a handful of chilis in the wok?

It always reminds me of chemical warfare training - without the respirator.

No i Jet Ski and only annoy the fish and other folks doing nothing of any important. Not folks trying to get some work done.

So you posted to support the premise that cycling is dangerous in Thailand and admit to jet skiing  A quick Google shows it not a smart pastime for the risk adverse.

I'll stick to cycling. At least the risks are outweighed by the benefits to health.

  11. My wife handled the details. The father has to sign the passport application but I don't think he needed to go to the office.

Permission to travel arose during the passport application and also required the signature of both parents. I didn't include it when we applied last month as boy is 18 and the visa application form classes minors as under 18. However, VFS asked for it when processing the application and fortunately we had the original with us.

  12. Specifically, it was a document linking my wife to her sister who's now a French citizen. I had an invite, an attest d'accuiell(sp?) and copies of all passports showing the same name and photos of everyone together over the last few years in various countries. I can't think of one except birth certs that were never issued/lost. She also wanted the boy's bank statements despite having my statements from a UK account. I'm sure I'm getting worked up over nothing but it's an anxious wait. He has a UK visa and we'll be entering from there.

  13. I've sponsored my stepson for a short stay family visit visa. We got a bit of a grilling by the TLS girl processing it who asked for documents that I thought were unnecessary given the circumstances. She accepted it even though she said it was incomplete and informed us that the embassy would probably be in touch to verify details. Anyway, they haven't and the passport is now on it's way back.

My question to any experts out there is: would the embassy reject an application out of hand or would they make contact if unsure of any point?

I'm hoping that the girl was just doing her job ticking items of a list and the application has been processed by an official at the embassy who's allowed to use discretion. However .....:(
