Thanks, what is the legalisation process? My undersanding was just to get it translated to Thai then off I go to the ministry of foreign affairs to get the license then the Amphur with the Mrs and all her documents....Am I missing a stage here?
Andy
All around the embassy and also opposite the Thai forign office, consular section you can find translation services. Doesn't matter much which one you take. They have the document on file and only have to add your name etc to the document and print it. So it doesn't take more then a minute or 5. Cost range from 300 to 500 baht.
If you want they can take care of the legalisation proices for you too. The legalisation costs about 800 baht and takes about 4 hours if you do it yourself. Cab fare to the consular section will be about 300 to 400 baht come and go. If you go yourself take the BTS to the end of the line (moh chit) and take a cab there.

Hi,
I will be collecting the affirmation of marriage from the British Embassy in Bangkok and need this translating to Thai. Does anyone know of a reputable translation service near the embassy? Also any idea how much this cost and how long it will take?
Thanks in advance

I did this with my Mrs In July, it does make it easier if you manage to fill all the details on the online form, fill in the forms online and print them off, you then make your appointment online to go to the VFS in Bangkok...We didn't know her fathers date of birth so we enterd that days date as the site wouldnt let you go to the next page leaving it blank, because of this they made us fill in all the forms again by hand and leave it blank..so for us
The system seems to work well and even with the little hicup we were out of there within 45 mins, good going for Thailand I thought, the visa was ready to collect in 3 days.

Hi,
I am getting married in January to a Thai in Bangkok, once we are married she will need to change her name legally so that her passport can be changed, then in turn apply for her UK Visa.
My question is can her name be changed in Bangkok whilst we are there or will she have to return home and change it at her local office where she is registred?
Also is there anywhere else we can get her name changed on the passport apart form Bangkok, Surrathani is our nearest city?

Hi,
I have my affirmation of freedom to marry, all ready for the Amphur, transalted to Thai and legalised. We may need to postpone the wedding now does anyone have an idea how long this document will be valid for? It could be June / July when we marry now?
Thanks In Advance
Andy
