  1. I suffered from Frozen Shoulder about 3 months ago, I was stretching for something and all of a sudden wack the biggest pain I have ever had, couldnt sleep due to the pain.

I am pretty fit (got my own mini gym in my room) so not sure if there is any link between cholesterol levels and frozen shoulder or not (leave that to the docs to decide) however I did not have any medical treatment (only what i read on the internet) I continued to exercise on a daily basis and the pain subsided after about 1 month....my arm is now back to 100%.

I did find a website stating that frozen shoulder could be linked to an injury caused in earlier years, which I did have when exercising approx 4 years before I had ripped a tenon in my shoulder area.

  2. Drug & Rehab centre (mentioned in this post) in Khon Kaen is one of the best in Thailand.

A friend of mine has just finished a 4 month course there were I visited every 2 weeks, staff are great & the centre is very well kept (clean etc) and so far treatment seems to be working fine. Made a lot of friends there on my visits.

The address is mentioned earlier in this post along with phone numbers etc, however a good landmark is its located almost right next to the army base in Khon Kaen.

    Regards

  3. Yer i understand that my visa will not have a stamp for leaving Vietnam but it will have the all important stamp for leaving thailand.

Its just a bloody long way to go for a visa run.

Might just stick it out with the old 3month visa run to kl.

    Cheers for the reply k

A visa acquired abroad without you being in the country of issue is invalid and unlawful. Thai Immigration computers will instantly tell them that you have a dodgy visa. Stick to KL.

Dont talk ridiculous been doing it for over 12 years now.....

  4. I have been trying to ease the ant problem in Thailand now for over 7 years and still have not cone up with any decent answers, I have tried Rentakil (who just say its impossible to get rid of them) I have also tried numerous other avenues to no avail.

I currently have a monthly spray (that is provided free to our Condo complex) that is OK for 1/2 days but then they are back again, my kitchen is always kept clean and so is the whole condo, no food is ever left out.

I know that this time of year ants like to move inside because of the adverse weather (as ants is normally a seasonal problem) however like the OP says there MUST be somewhere or somebody in the whole of Thailand that can do something surely??? :o

  5. Hi all,

My wife has gone home to Sakhon Nakhon and has recently changed her mobile to DTAC, a very urgent matter has arisen here in Bangkok and I need to contact her to ask her to call me asap, her phone which I am assuming is because of DTAC's coverage is always un-available, so I need to get somebody to the house to give her the message personally.

Any falangs living in Sakhon Nakhon who can do this for me? I will pay somebody to get a taxi there or if somebody knows a Thai in SN then that may be even better as I only have the address in Thai language and unfortunetly have never been there before myself (always lived and stayed in BKK now for 8yrs)

Any help in this matter or any other suggestions to contact her would be appreciated, this is a genuine request and is now very urgent....

    Many Thanks

  6. End this topic now, its crazy we all know the real FOOTBALL is the best and most popular watched event in the World bypassing any other sport by miles only the Olympic games has more of a TV viewing than FOOTBALL and thats even now becoming a very narrow margin, start this topic after you watch this years (2006) World cup finals in Germany.

FOOTBALL BY FAR THE BEST AND MOST POPULAR SPORT IN THE WORLD, behave yourself guys

  7. ....and tips, which i normally leave min 500bt, in every bar.

Please come to the Farang Connection. I remember the times when I used to stare out of my window over the Rising Sun ( that was my pub venture at the time) and wonder who our new neighbours were going to be. Didn't seem too bad, as I am a Chelsea boy, when the DB's opened. Give my regards to Chris when you see him.

    Will do lampard10

  8. There does seem to be something peculiar about this situation. A bloke who can afford to spend a minimum of 15-20k every time he goes out in Bangkok up in arms about losing 15 minutes of a happy hour. Fair play if you do, but maybe you need to jettison some of the freeloaders who aren't taking their turn to pay for your night out.

Not really my business but he was talking about mates not freeloaders.

With mates usually what comes around goes around and in the end everybody is a winner :o

meom, exactly thats what does happen....

Muppy Merton at least I've got hair :D

At least my hair follicles are active..... :D

...mmm this sounds like a man in denial about one of the facts of life - beginning to feel a bit follicley challenged are we EH?

Checking the back of the old barnet with a mirror when you are alone in the bathroom, are we?

    Sad case.

Dr Merton bites to easy...no challenge whatsoever :D

OK EH, you win - let's call it superior intelligence.

But please tell me, because I'm curious, how you manage - in your words - to be "active" on Thaivisa for 2 years with only 37 postings?

Well Doc Merton its like this, do I have to teach you how to use a computer afterall you being a teacher of everything thats viable I think you should be able to answer your own question :o

  10. I don't see the problem Thomas, he made a valid complaint about a happy hour in a bar, its not the money but the principle involved, I agree with him, it is a con, it stated happy hour until 8 pm and this wasn't given to him.  The price of the beer doesn't matter.

To the original poster, you've gotta give me a breakdown on how you spend 15-20 k a night in bkk especially in these bars, that sounds so pricey.  5-6-7 k I follow but 20k thats a lot.  Not having a go at you for it, its your dosh, just wondered HOW?

bkkmadness thank you, you see the light, shame the majority here cant...

I normally leave big tips wherever I go and ring bells quite often and help me mates out quite a bit who sometimes are skint, but hey when I go out I like to have a gig...

The_Moog, Yeah I know a few movie extras who work on Channel 3

Eddiee, can I be your friend ? You sound like a great friend to have !

OK, maybe im pushing it but could I come on your next pub crawl ? This way you can let me know if I qualify as one of your mates ! I can assure you im very ugly so I wont be stealing the attention from the girls :o

You are welcome along pktkid, as long as you r not lying about the ugly bit :D

OK, im not exactly telling the truth, I am indeed a handsome man !

Not that I am vane or anything like that as I actually consider myself as average however, everytime I walk down Soi 4, Cowboy, Patpong etc, etc im forever hearing the words "Hello handsome man" !

Now, as far as things go this is how I see it. Is it possible for all these girls to be wrong ? Surely they cant all be telling me lies ?

Because of this I have decided that "statistically" there has to be some element of truth in it, so yes, I am a handsome man ! (well thats my theory and im sticking with it) :D

However this should not matter as you will be the one with the money right ? Someone tells me that the girls want only money and not a handsome man which I find very hard to believe...... shall we have a challenge ? Happy hour Cheap Charlie house ? :D

LOL pktkid, are you referring to Cheap Charlies on Soi 11 or just a cheap charlie house (how about Cathouse:-)

Now I see why HH is of such importance to you - you havn't got much else in your life, have you?

Muppy Merton at least I've got hair :D

Something tells me you wont last long on this forum :o

daleyboy thx for the comment, however we have been active on this forum since 2003.....

Good post meom and totally agree...

32 postings in 2 years - if that's active, I bet you describe your 10 years crawling from cheapskate hour to cheapskate hour in Pattaya as "high powered stress filled business executive working in the Far East".

At least my hair follicles are active..... :D

  14. So......................did the happy HOUR go on for just an hour or longer. Longer I would imagine. Personally I would call it 'Cheap Charlie Hour' I do beleive that the 'Happy Hour' at the Cathouse house lets you drink as much Chang as you can for ฿100. Maybe I should have a word with Doug see if he can stretch it to 'As much Chang as you can drink for one month, only ฿50' Still, probably still get complaints that the month finished 15 mins early.

To all you guys moaning away on here, particularly you long term expats who have forgotten life in the real world !

How many guys in your home country would give there left leg to be able to get sh*t faced for less than the price of 1 single beer ? Then be able to grab a stunning 21 year old bird on the way home for less than the price of a good curry ?

How good do you want your life to be before you stop complaining ?? :o

I have to say this gives a whole new meaning to the word "ungrateful" ! :D

Well I have no idea where you venture to when you go out but when I go in BKK I always spend min 15/20,000bht (1 nite) and I normally go out 2/3 times a week, think its a lot more expensive in BKK for a good night out than it is in London or NYC etc (years ago it used to be cheaper but not now)...OK, I would still rather be here though :D

    my 2 cents...

the bar owner has the right to do whatever he wants.  it's his bar.

but if I were him, if the customer has a legitimate complaint, I would honor the customer's complaint.  because in the long run, he will reap the benefits of having a return customer.

in fact, I would buy the guy a beer just to patch up any misunderstandings. like one poster said, "it's only one beer."

return customers are your bread and butter.  if you don't try to retain them, you will eventually go broke.

return customers also serve to provide you with free advertising thru word of mouth.  something that is always appreciated in the business world.

my father taught me this principle a long time ago.

end of my preaching.  you do what you want.

At last 3 cheers for nick, somebody here with a sensible view on this issue.

The majority of my mates here including me have been in Thailand for over 10yrs each and probably know most of you on this board as we are a huge community of approx 100 expats we know most of the people in the bar game (who are worth knowing) and word about this load of B****** has really spread amoung the expat community, however if the bar has changed hands then its pointless continuing this thread, just goes to show who was in the right, bar owner has now SOLD the bar (got the most out of his customers first)

Sign or no sign in the bar stating HH drinking hours (which I have never seen its probably in the run down bogs written in Thai) the World does not revolve around the Cathouse Clock and when people go out for a drink they expect time to be in "Real Time" so as there is no cheating which is/was clearly happening in this instance and probably a lot of other instances no wonder he can afford to sell the bar!

Bottom line is 6pm till 8pm is 6pm till 8pm, if we start allowing this sort of thing to happen here we are all going to end up out of pocket...and by the way beer is getting just as expensive in Thailand as it is in the West and in some places more expensive
