But please also consider that when there is a large group of 10/15 expats in a bar then I am sure you can see why we are complaining about the false advertising of 8pm HH finito...as HH price would be half price compared to full price and I am sure the owner knew this and told his girlies (if you can call them that) not to give us HH prices, whereas if it was joe bloggs sitting in the corner on his own then I am sure it would have been different......

Going to Penang for the 2nd time next week for 4 nights staying at the Bayview City in Georgetown, 1st time I went I didnt really have any time to have a good look around.

Does anybody know any good Brit pubs in Georgetown? or any decent nightlife venus? I am going with the Thai misses so cant be too wild:-(

Just a quickie..we were in the Cathouse the other night all was OK until we went to order a happy hour beer at 7.45pm and was told by the bar girls sorry "cannot" they advertise HH until 8pm their clock is set 15mins forward to try and gain dosh from pissed up punters but we were not having any of it, we all checked our phones and watches and it was def 7.45pm we even showed the bar girls our phones all stating the right time unless Thaksin and AIS were in on it (that wouldnt surprise me) but they still insisted it was after 8pm...so no HH beer

He has just lost about 10 regular expat customers because of this and we are all spreading the word as well....was it worth it ?

I have lived in BKK for a long time now and Villa Market selling out of date food is not anything new its been happening for years.

Very easy to find, there are over 10,000 OEM factories in Thailand I have a huge database of them along with contact names etc however sorry cannot give any out as this is my business...

Tip Keep searching on the internet you will find literally 1000's if you look in the right places....

I have around 100 expat friends in Thailand and all have used agents and not 1 has been detained or deported as yet....

Its been nice talking to you all over the last couple of weeks but time to log off these scaremonger forums and get some reality checking done.

Noel closing down go go's is a little bit different to causing major air delays including Thai airways (Run by the Government) losing time and money because of all the hold-ups it would cause.....

yesterday I heard that the office to pay the fines for your overstay at Don

Muang Airport (behind passportcontrols) has been closed and moved to

downtown BKK.

No way they would stop overstay payments at the airport this would cause havoc with tourists missing their flights etc....

Do you not advise anyone using Immigration at BKK with

new passports? Do you think its better to use local ones

if they agree to stamp for you.

Are they deffinately going to check your past entries

on computer even if you have recently entrered through

Its only my personal notion that I think it would be better to use your existing passport with the existing agent chop and leave Thailand via the airport rather than with a new passport visiting Thai Immigration.

However I have just read (Speculation) on another thread that the overstay counter (where you pay for your overstay) has been closed and thay are now directing people to Thai Immigration to make payment which means if I did leave via the airport I would no doubt miss my flight.

If the above is true then I would certainly have to re-think my plan for exit, although I still think a new passport is not the way to go...

Think this threads getting a bit over specked right now.

2000 people arrested come on lets be serious here.

If 2000 people had or speculated to have been arrested what about the families and friends who would by now be aware of this fact, this would be a major International situation and the International media would be jumping all over it.

The Thai authorities are loving reading these boards everyday seeing farangs scared out of their wits so come on boys lets not give them the satisfaction.

One other point I'd like to make which is FACT.

I was watching BBC World the other day when a report started live from BKK about the new Drugs crackdown, as soon as 2000 deaths previously was mentioned the TV communication was cut and a message put up, 30 seconds later it came back and the Beeb were talking about a totally different subject?

I wonder who cut the communication?

Bud you should have no problems at all coming or going if you have airport A stamps and have never used an agency, in my book you definitely have nothing to worry about.

Dr, I was told by Brit embassy that the majority of people who are being detained are peeps who are entering the Country on so called agent stamps.

I was actually at the Brit Emb today quite a lot of peeps in the same mess getting new passports but lines seemed to be moving quite rapidly.

I personally have decided to wait until after APEC and go to BKK airport and use my existing passport (with agent chop) with a one way ticket to London, 20,00bht ready in pocket for my 3 month overstay and 200,000bht in cash with my mate waiting outside just in case they decide I should be detained but dont think I will have any worries personally.

I would rather risk the airport over having to go to the Thai Immigration in BKK with a new passport.

One other thing while I was at the Brit Embassy today police raided my condo and asked for names of all muslim people in the complex!

Sorry to be the bringer of bad news...

There have been more arrests on the border at Cambodia over the last 3 days (Confirmed by the British Embassy in phone call today).

The Brit embassy said that its not a problem leaving the Country but a major problem getting back in.

The arrests occurred when farangs tried to re-enter the Country in Cambodia.

I am going to the Brit embassy tommorow and will keep you all informed of any further events.

I have just come back from immigration, getting a visa transferred onto a new passport, I had no problems. Even though I had used an agent (a reputable one).

Just seen this post on another forum....

the crusade against tourist visas, although within the law,will be seen to be a gross over-reaction, and i think will end in an amnesty. this will allow the immigration and the police forces to get back to the necessary job of protecting thailand from terrorists,rather than english teachers and backpackers.

It would appear that the borders are picking and choosing who to arrest judging by the stories coming in as a lot of people have left the Country succesfully even with the above numbers.

So I would suggest rather than take any chances if you do have a suspect number just sit and wait until this USA/Thai thing subsides.(Usually Thai surges only last approx 1 month as was the case with Motorcycle taxi's etc etc etc)

I listed all the numbers over on another forum but here thay are again just in case you missed them first time round.
