  1. With the multiple non-o you can get almost 15 months of total stay by doing an entry just before your visa expires. A 90 day entry from the visa can be extended by 60 days also.

Oct. 11th sounds about right to have the 90 days remaining.

But you could get about 5 months total even if you could not use but one of your entries by extending the 60 days by 30 days and then 60 days to visit your wife. The a border hop for 30 days if needed.

This is all getting a little confusing now! Can I give you a proposed itinerary as an example so that I can clarify my arrangements?

Enter Thailand for the first time on the 5th October.

Leave the country after 60 days on the 4th of December.

    Spend 2 weeks in Cambodia.

Renter Thailand on the 18th of December and get another 60 days.

Leave Thailand on the 9th January and renter the same day to gain another 60 days which can be extended a further 30 days meaning I don't have to leave Thailand until the 7th of April.

  2.

Yes my wife is Thai but she doesn't live in Thailand, she has been a UK resident for six years. We are waiting on her new residency permit which is what is delaying our plans.

You can get a 60 day extension to visit you wife. I assume she will be traveling with you.

You could of gotten a multiple entry non-o visa based upon marriage that would give 90 day entries for a year.

I had no idea I could do this. With the multiple entry non-O visa how long could you end up staying for? With my current visa, you're telling me that as long as I enter Thailand for the first time with at least 90 days to go before my last entry, then I'll still be able to make it last six months if I make the necessary extensions? Phew! I hope the Home Office process her application soon, I'll have to make my first entry no later than October the 11th? Is that correct?

  3. This is a rather silly question but I need to have my mind put at rest anyway! I have recently obtained a three entry tourist visa for my forthcoming trip to Thailand. On the visa it says that I must enter before the 9th of January 2015. Does this mean that I have to enter Thailand for the first time by this date, or does it mean that I have to have used all my entries by that date? I'm pretty sure that it means I have to enter Thailand for the first time by that date but I just want this confirmed. My travelling plans have been delayed slightly and I'm worried that I have to have used all my entries by that date which would reduce the six months that I am planning to so spend in South East Asia. Thanks in advance for any advice on this!

  4. My Thai wife has ILR and a residency permit but still doesn't have a British passport so obviously she will have to obtain Schengen visas for the countries she wishes to visit in Europe. Next year we are considering a European road trip incorporating a few different European nations so will I have to obtain separate Schengen visas for every country she wishes to enter or is there any easier way of doing this? Is there perhaps a way of obtaining a multi-entry European Schengen visa? Would appreciate it if anyone who has done a similar thing with their Thai wife can give me any advice on this.

Edit - Just done some research and found that "generally" speaking with a Schengen visa, you may enter one country and travel freely throughout the Schengen region during the validity of the visa. So if my wife obtains a Schengen visa from the French embassy (as France will be our point of entry into the Schengen zone) then we are free to travel freely within the Schengen zone before returning home before the visa expires.

  5. send me a personal message and I will translate it for you.

Thank you so much. I would appreciate this so much if you could this for me as. thumbsup.gif

I have PM'd that for you. Hope it all goes well.

I have had it checked by a Thai and they say that your translation is correct. Many thanks. thumbsup.gif

  6. Although I can speak quite a bit of Thai now my knowledge of Thai script and reading and writing the language is non existent. I am hoping that there is someone on this forum that can help me with translating a single sentence for a tattoo idea that I have. Obviously, tattoos are permanent and for life so I don't want to take any chances with the translation being incorrect or erroneous, so I am going to ask as many people as I can to do this for me until I am satisfied that I have a perfect translation. I am married to a Thai and I suppose I could ask her but I am worried she may not know the exact translation of some of the words.

If there is anyone that could help me I would extremely grateful. Let me know and I will send you a message containing exactly what I want translated.

  7. Thank you so much for all the wonderful advice and PM's I have recieved. Please, please keep posting replies even if you think your advice or information will not be of any use because so far most that has been posted is of some use. :)

  8. Next year my Thai wife and I will be going to Thailand for about six months or more with the intention of buidling a house on her land in Buriram. We are in the process of planning the design for the house and we have made enquiries in her village as to finding suitable builders for this project. Obviously the fact that we are so far away in the UK makes the logistics of this venture difficult so I am looking for any information or advice that people can give me. Anything would be helpful. It would be good if I could get contact details for builders merchants in or around the Surin / Buriram area where we can buy the materials we will need for the house. Maybe you know a potential builder who we could get in contact with, or maybe you have done the same thing yourself in this area and can give me some good advice. It would be very much appreciated.

  9. If you are really serious, you might invest in this.

That is an excellent link and should prove to be very useful. Thanks. :)

The handicraft areas are very scattered in the North and North East so it will be hard to find a variety unless you go to specific commercial areas such as in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. The advantage of going to the source towns is that you'll see all they have to offer, but (and I import/export Thai products) I have found very few items there that I couldn't find in Bangkok, and in Bangkok they're all in one place. If you're looking at very specialised things such as wooden furniture and art ok you might find some artisans in the north who don't sell their products through relatives in . And yes...pricewise there was no difference between the source and the outlet shop in.

You sound like you have a lot of experience in something I wish to know more about. Maybe if I sent you a PM you could provide me with some information and answer a few questions for me? :D

  10. You may think you'll get a much better deal buying from the source location in the North or wherever, but you won't.

This is what I was thinking. I'm under the impression that a lot of the crafted items come from the North where the culture is more authentic and vibrant. Maybe I should start researching the North more than I am Bangkok. I was only thinking Bangkok because the logistics would be a lot easier than the North. However, you're telling me that I wouldn't get better deals in the North? What makes you say that? Have you had any experience of this?

I was aware of the Chatuchak market but not the others so I'm going to check them out. Thanks for the reply.

  11. I'm interested in researching large warehouse outlets in Bangkok that supply the shops and businesses in Thailand. The places that the smaller shops buy their goods from whole sale for cheaper prices. I'm particularly interested in ornamental and hand crafted Thai items. Any information would be appreciated. Even names would be a start. My Thai wife has told me the name of one wholesaler she remembered called (phonetical translation) "bow bay" but we can't find it.

Which are the largest ones and what are their names?

  12. During my next trip to Thailand it is my intention to get some sak yant tattoos. I have researched the subject extensively and already have an idea of two that I want. I do however want one that protects me against car accidents and as much as I have looked I am still yet to find a picture of a sak yant on the internet for this. Can anyone help me? I would be very grateful. Perhaps I am wrong and this particular sak yant does not exist, but I am sure I read somewhere it does? Even the name of this sak yant would be a start.....

  13. Hello! Im new to this forum, but not to LOS. I have been coming to LOS for the last 18 months, the next trip is my 4th. I am a member of other forums and people referred to this one so i thought id give it a whirl. My next trip i will be spending some time in Surin as tirak is from near there. I asked for info on another site and got told about the farangconnection pub which is owned by someone who frequents this forum. I thought it would be a good idea to introduce myself before i go to Surin, so could the person in question pm me? :D:o

    Thanks
