You can take the girl out of the bar, but you can't take the bar out of the girl.
I don't think that that tired old cliche really adds anything to this discussion. I'm you can come up with something more intelligent then to say then that bar stool classic.
But it is related to this topic. Everyone here is talking about money being given to the WIFE and family members why do people do this. If you didn't would your WIFE still be with you. In most cases i don't think so as they stay with you for money not love with is understandable when you see the age gap
It's got nothing to do with my situation i !! My wife has lived and worked in the u.k for the last 8 years !! and yes i do believe that (stupidly or not) that we are very much genuinely in love.
I met her in 2000 when she was 18 and i was 22 backpacking around Thailand without a pot to piss in !!
I never paid a dowry and have never sent a penny to her family what she chooses to do with her money is upto her.
Having lived in England for so long and seeing what my family did for us a young married couple i think she now truly realises the meaning of "FAMILY"

I agree with Nick and some of the others. The allowance is the best way. I've given my wife an allowance for the past 6 years that we've been together. She's very protective of it and uses it to work on our house, add to the restaurant, buy more land and/or make more money. It's not a lot; but it's enough that she can use to do something with. She's given some to her mother and one of her sister's, but just a little. I'm the softy in our family. Don't let the actions of one member of the family taint your feelings about the rest. Give your wife a set amount and let her be the one to decide if she can afford to give and how much. My wife's favorite saying it "Up to her/him", they're not her responsibility.
allowance...what the **** is that all about.....is that the amount you agreed on when you rescued her from a bar somewhere....****....why give money every month...that is the start of a slippery slope...
Seem's to have worked for my Grandfather who has paid my Grandmother her house keeping money for over 50 years.
I pay my wife a monthly allowence to get all of the food household items and a little over the top for her to blow on whatever she wants.
It works well she budgets and we don't have the cringe worthy moments of her constantly asking for money hardly a slippery slope!!

Airbus made the SO wrong mistake by retiring the concorde and instead built the a380.
Concorde is not an Airbus product. Airbus had nothing to do with it's retirement.
Do you ever look anything up before making statements?
Concorde never made a profit in its history. Was propped by both B.A and air Fance
Concorde was fantastically profitable for B.A that's whey they spend millions re - engineering there concorde's after the Air France crash.
-
Airbus made the SO wrong mistake by retiring the concorde and instead built the a380. I hope the a380 lands on a scrapyard! I want to go back to the future. Concorde flew for 27 years without one single accident! , The one in Paris wasn't caused by the concorde itself but by debrie on the runway throwen up by the tires and hitting the fuel tanks.
Aircraft manufacturers do not retire planes, airlines do, and what did airbus have to do with Concorde anyway??
Edir: oops just noticed cdnvic already said this.
Wrong Airbus is the biggest reason that we don't see concorde still in the air !!!
Airbus made half of the parts for Concorde along with British Aerospace. Once Airbus decided they no longer wanted to produce parts B.A had no other option (once it had used up it's supply of existing spares) but to ground her forever.

I'm still trying to get over the fact that the OP went to Phuket 2 years in a row.
I would think that once is enough for anybody. I'll be damned if I'll ever return there (to be ripped off and scowled at). I find the locals there to be very unfriendly and dishonest.
Agreed at least in other parts of Thailand you will be ripped off by somebody with a smile on there face !!!
The tuk tuk mafia to the stern faced bargirls on soi bangla have been taking the piss for years.
Couple this with the overpriced food and drink prices low rent hotels starting at 2000 baht in patong.
The place just isn't worth it !!!
-
Google for Dream Hotel.
Can't fault this place i stay there quite often with my brother when we are in town to party my brother is 26 and i'm 30 and we find in perfect for our needs
5 star but modern contempary boutique design and funky lighting make it a cool place to stay. personally i find the sheraton and the landmark a bit stuffy and old fasioned.
Free wireless in all of the rooms, good breakfast , 24 hour room service
The staff are mostly below 30 friendly with fantastic english and will be able to point you in the right direction regarding hip bars clubs to visit.

Anybody now where i can get hold of the new British Lion's shirt in Bangkok ?

For anyone who likes to party in the street, there is a ding dong at the the Leelawadee Gardens in Prasat Surin. It's on April 13th and starts at 10 a.m. till around 6 p.m. Then we will organize transport up to the Harley Bar where there is Live music & free BBQ. If you don't like Water-fights, Fancy Dress, Loud Music, Drinking and Dancing and having fun, then stay at home.
Click on the link below to see our you-tube invitation.
I shall be there really looking forward to it !!

Hi anybody know the situation with flights in and out of Phuket ?
-
There is no reliable source right now.
The best advise for now is here:
The arrivals are complete Tosh my friends flight from Amman with Royal Jordanian is down to arrive 1 hour later then scheduled. I know for a fact it has been canceled !!!
-
If you can afford it get the plane the less time you spend on thai roads the better the route 24 (ubon road) that you will take to prasat is the worst in Thailand for fatal accidents. The busses just drive stright at you and depending on the time of year you could be stuck behind a convoy of sugar cain lorries doing 20 km/ph down the centre of the road.
I've also heard that some of the major route's to the north east have been blocked due to the recent political demonstrations
You'll get a taxi from Buri Ram airport to Prasat for about 1500 baht there are loads outside.
A friend of mine has a little resort in Prasat if you're looking for somewhere to stay it's got a descent pool air con rooms and high speed wireless hotspot.

If you not import one, I have to say that you probably out of luck. Not much people want to sell a very unique bike like that in Thailand. The 250cc range was never popular for importers, as it had the same registering rate as a 400cc motorcycle, which was a much easier to sell bike. What explains the relative large availability of 400cc motorcycles.
And, again, I personally would not invest lots of money in buying a two-stroke. The Thai government is trying to have them off the roads by the end of 2009. Thailand looks for ways on how to introduce the Euro3 emission standard very fast.... This with promotions and penalties.....
I very much doubt that riding around Surin province in the next couple of year's that i am going to get pulled for riding a 2 stroke bike !!
-
With a two-stroke you need to hurry, I belief that the government is going to introduce a emission rule for newly registered bikes. A newly imported two-stroke will not pass the test for sure....
I'm not looking to import one i reckon i should be able to find one in Thailand. I looked into importing a car into Thialnd a few years ago and the red tape import duty tax just made it a non starter.
-
I think he wants a 2 strokeWhat about the Kawasaki Ninja 250R, it is now available in Thailand, and with a sporty modify kit you get ultra performance, it is not for nothing that Honda stopped producing the CBR250RR.... First problem it was unable to keep up with the side development of the V-twin Honda VFR-250, to make it clear the VFR-250 will outperform the (stock) Kawasaki Ninja 250R, but has a expected introduction price in Thailand of almost 200,000 Baht in February 2009.That's right Mike it's got to be a stroker pref one that needs a little TLC but not a complete nail. I'm looking for a bit of a project to keep me busy as i spend about 3 months a year in Thailand.
-
Looking ideally for a late MC28 Honda Nsr 250 but maybe a Suzuki RGV 250 or a Yamaha TZR 250.
I know tyga performance offer parts for these models but they don't sell complete bike's

You didn't say what the noise sounded like. However if it is a whirring type noise that increases with speed i would say possibly a wheel bearing maybe on it's way out.

The Nav is around 1600 GBP or 104000 baht option i bought mine 2nd hand from a breakers yard for 250 GBP or only 16250 baht !!!

Air Asia To Perth Was Fantastic

I usaully fly direct to Perth from Swampy with Royal Thai it's nice to know there's another option available. The plane's that Thai run on the Perth Bangkok route are really old with no Audio /Visual entertainment package to speak of. I stopped using Thai years ago for my London Flights but it appears they are still the only Airline running flights direct to from Perth from Bangkok
