  1. These guys are making the wrong argument at the wrong door too !

Chevrolet obviously knew before hand that they are going down. They should have informed consumers so that individuals could make informed decisions. Just at that, there's gross misrepresentation from the company's side.

These guys essentially be asking for a full refund with the consumer court and consider a class action suit to get GM to even move a needle.

Yes, wht is applicable on sales of svcs only.

I own a software business in th too and we have clients abroad too, for which all the revenue comes to th

    Heres the basic rule -

If ur client and service provided is outside thailand ,its a pure "proforma invoice" sale without any vat on it.

When u get paid, u get paid without any deductions.however, u will report the revenue made in monthly pp30 filing under the non-vat revenue section. So until this step, there is no wht implication.

In the case ur client is also in thailand, then u will get a 3% wht deduction.

All the wht deduction u recv can be offset against ur corporate income tax while making annual returns.

On the side of delivery of services -

Now ,if u have hired an independent consultant (not employee) who is based in US to serve ur clients, there is no WHT implication while paying him.

But if this guy is based in thailand and is remotely assisting ur clients, then there are 2 conditions while paying this consultant

If thai national - then 3% wht deduction

If a foreign national - then 15% wht deduction

This is pretty much how it works and its verified info as rd dept advised me these matters when i was audited by them in my first year of operation back in 2009

Pm me if u need any more info !

    Cheers

Can you specifically mention which model are you using , i personally am a toshiba fan and hav been using them for as long as i can remember.

It is very strange when you say that the motherboard needs to be replaced. The only thing i replaced on my oldest toshiba were the LCD hinges (a small steel bracket which eventually gave up on continuous use). Bought another 3 toshiba's for my office and never had a problem with anything.

Though , i purchased the brackets myself via a small vendor for 1200 baht and replaced them myself.

I suggest visit pantip , and on the second floor (although towards the back of this floor, right hand side corridor) there is an escalator. By the side of this escalator there are a few small shops for notebook repairs. Take it to them, and they will surely help you out.

  4. Its just appalling to see that nobody, absolutely nobody has a clear mandate of "what to do" , with any measure of absolute written on it.

I will complete 10years in Thialand this October, and not even once i've felt / seen / heard any "long term vision" from any administration in power (all these years).

Question of the hour : where does it leave expats like us , can we continue to drag on ? Or, does it mean that its time to move on somewhere where folks at least stick to some sort of planning every 5 years ?

  5. So, the boats did nothing, and the person filming did nothing. Great to see we are living in such a caring society now. Sad.

in hindsight, ive realised over the years that thai's in general quickly assume + conclude about situations unfolding in front of their eyes ... they dont really (even in their thought process) try to investigate - if whats going on is really what it is ! (notice how the politics works in LOS as well...)

they (the boats) perhaps simply assumed that the boys are playing in the water / messing around with each other - and simply did not bother to find out what was really going on !

But what really amazes me, is that the river bank seems to be only a few feet away (10-20 feet on the left hand) - but it was perhaps already a struggle for them to keep breathing !

the guy with the camera is another idiot i have to say, he could have taken the boat next to the pier on which he was standing to at least go and attempt a rescue - but he did nothing at all !

Another sad loss of life in LOS !

  6. This has happened (twice) to me !

My car was hit by a motorcycle , who decided to flee. Everytime, i have managed to get the license plate number - and immediately filed a police complaint. The insurance came to the police station to take care of damage documentation - and from that point on the liability was completely of the other party.

So as long as you called insurance on time + made a police complaint (the most important part) - you dont need to bother at all !

    Good luck !

    and,

    hhfarang

Thank you for your individual responses ... i was basically trying to figure out if i paid too much in fees and exchange rate conversion in order to complete the transfer. But as hhfarang rightly points out , "western banks don't want your baht" : i guess the best option is to continue sending the cash via KBANK (their rate so far seems to be the lowest in comparison to other banks)

    Thank you all :)

  8. Hello all,

I need to transfer cash (to a personal savings ac in the US) and would like to know what is the best way forward for this.

My recent transfer of $2000 - i converted THB into USD - i ended up paying almost THB 66000+ for a $2000 transfer - this included the transfer fees as well.

(For a transfer of $2000 , an exch rate of 32.65 was applied)

The transfer was done from kasikorn bank - is there a better way / any other recommended bank to do this ? I would need to make another transfer soon and would basically want to reduce excess amount which happens as a result of conversion.

Any suggestions / recommendations welcome please !

    Thank you !

  9. Razer64,

i feel your biggest problem is that you are living In / around / same vicinity as your in-laws / extended family.

Get away from them with your wife ( out of sight - eventually out of mind ! )

You did a wise thing by shutting down the CASH supply, and that has altered the micro economics of the affection they had for you, although i would still say this is only a secondary issue.

If you are living with ur wife's extended family (or even within line of sight) , anyone elder will attempt to exercise their right over you (yes, in a feudal manner where you will be expected to only return / reciprocate family obligations). As long as you were sending cash, you were reciprocating, since that stopped - now you are completely giving a sh*t about them , which equals disrespect for them !

The best thing to do - take you missus and return the states if you can ! Unless you really want to enjoy your time in LOS, just get away from the current location to somewhere you cannot be found and you are the captain of your own boat !

    Wish you luck !

  10. I will second the OP !

Banana IT sales guys really know how to take it easy with their clients , ie, not trying to pressurize the client into buying. Instead, they take the time to explain every little detail about the product - this also shows the amount of training put into these guys - they know their product well indeed !

Unlike the other "City" stores, where sales guys are like cows grazing on the field - they have no idea about the stuff that they sell in their stores !
