  1. This is a welcome change - and hope it gets implemented at grass-root level first - ie - the band of boys in black !

There is no deterrent today as most drivers feel that they could get away with anything by passing the buck under the table.

At the same time - the outer ring road expressways have been installed with camera based speed checkers and that has dramatically reduced the drivers overspeed and criss-crossing lanes , as the fines (B 1000) are posted straight to your residential address !

Everything takes time to change - this one is executed well would be a welcome one !

  2. Rexall,

Please PM me your host's FTP details - most of the times its really a little script / link added to modify the behavior of the home page. Wont charge you anything for this please !

In case the site has been altered - which is actually faily uncommon - i'll let you know likewise.

    Cheers !

  3. Figure this -

Just last week a high school mate was over for a conference in Bangkok - and he finally took out time over the weekend

So we went over to amphawa - and towards the evening we figures there's a boat (foot) massage service there - which takes out along the river for a good 90 mins ride (with 45 mins of massage thrown in) - 350 per head all incl.

While we chatted (covered up for the 15 odd years gap from our last face to face meeting) - a young thai couple just opposite to us spent their entire 90 mins on their phone.

The article talks about a "phubbing" phenomena - but i guess most of these folks are plain addicted to their devices - social media platforms - pretty much the ironical dark side of technology !

PHUKET: -- Three Phuket expats from Ireland and England will be deported from Thailand after being caught in Cherng Talay for overstaying.

Officers moved in and arrested Alex Good, 27, from Ireland, at a restaurant near Cherng Talay Police Station at 3:30pm yesterday, said Lt Col Chidchanok Sakornyen of Phuket Immigration.

“We had been following him for a while as we had been informed he was staying illegally in the country,” Col Chidchanok explained.

“We asked him for his passport. He said he didn’t have it with him. We took him to the immigration office in Phuket Town and checked his details on our database.

“We found he entered Thailand on May 4 through Ranong Immigration and was allowed to stay until May 18,” he said.

The arrest of Mr Good follows the arrests of two English expats – Aaron Liam Quinn, 37, and Paul Wild, 49 – at a house in Soi Pasak, Cherng Talay, on Thursday.

“Mr Quinn entered Thailand at Phuket Airport August 12, 2012 and was allowed to stay until January 9, 2013,” explained Col Chidchanok.

“Mr Wild entered the country at Ranong Immigration and was allowed to stay until May 27, 2011,” he added.

All three men confessed to overstaying their visas.

“The three of them have been charged with illegally staying in the country and will be sent to Bangkok to be deported,” Col Chidchanok said.

pure jubilation on their faces , sporting that cute smile ! o_O

  5. uniforms dictate some amount of discipline - its just a dress code that exists, along side other "codes" that demand to exist in an educational institute.

But i fail to see the point being made here about uniforms leading to "non-creativity". Creativity has to come from the way in education is delivered, how teachers decide to use tools available to them and so on....

..... this is probably just another campaign where "ready to use" reasoning is available to "NOT" wear uniforms!

  6. Another sad crash !
This crashed van has tailgating and surprise overtaking written all over it.

I use the bkk - saraburi - pak chong - isaan route often and i am always surprised by the immediate rush these vans + pickup drivers have when they see a curve in front on them. The pak chong section is a hilly approach full of curves, chicanes and a few wide straights - apart from the heavier vehicles who are the slowest ones - almost everyone makes a dash for it.

  7. This is why Thailand is pushing for the quality tourist. This sort of thing tarnishes Thailand's reputation. If these people were quality tourists they wouldn't be shopping at market stalls they would be in Major Department stores shopping for designer items (made in India & Bangladesh). This incident would not have happened.thumbsup.gif

Mate, regardless, they shouldn't have been attacked by the mob.

quite true. I was using just a touch of sarcasm.

either ways : whatever you're saying - not at all cool !

  8. 1. Am in the same boat as yours, with exception to the fact that my wife (Even though non-working) is listed as one of the directors in the company.

    2. Your idea of putting cash in / out in here account is a good one - in my case - banks wanted to see sources of income and cash flow in statements

    3. If you are getting paid well - the mortgage could be provided by the bank. But you must understand that the mechanism in this situation would mean that you own the house (not the land) and hence the mortgage would be a value of the house. Your missus would be the owner of the land (on which the house is built).

The mooban where we have bought the house is still under construction - the sales woman insists that the chanote will have both our names. I actually find that unlikely ( could be wrong though !) - but i am inclined to believe that the arrangement (paperwork) would be like point # 3 above.

    Hope this helps !

  9. Well, the bank may have said it was in a flooded area and they would require her to put up more money (i.e., like maybe the bank would only provide 50% of the purchase amount and she had to come up with the rest, etc), but I seriously doubt the bank would say they would not provide "any mortgage" on a house which was in one of the 2011 flooded areas. Heck, probably 20% of Thailand was impacted by the 2011 flood...I know my house/moobaan in western Bangkok was as we had around 1.5 meters of water in our moobaan for around a week and probably 1.0M for two weeks, and 0.5 meters for one week. They are still building, buying and selling houses in my moobaan and I expect most of them are bought with mortgages versus cash since I expect most of the houses are in the 8-15M baht ballpark.

Which part of west bangkok are you in please ?

  10. "police found between two and three-hundred wild animals"

Just wondering how big was this house? ph34r.pngph34r.pngph34r.pngph34r.pngph34r.png or was it a zoo?? mellow.pngmellow.pngmellow.png

huge house... they had this on local news last night !

Fairly large iron cages for the bigger animals, but small cages, plastic tubs / boxes for birds/smaller animal.

The owner of the house has a previous history of such activities - and he was proudly showing off "documents" to prove that the lions etc were brought in legally to be sold to other zoos !

Pathetic state of affairs overall saai.gif
