  1. Yep - we had our Samsung repaired a while back - it worked, except it didn't cook at all.  Got a local shop to check it out and repair it - 1K Baht for a new magnetron. If we'd known the repair price beforehand I'd have bought a new one, as the thing cost less than 2K Baht a few years ago - and we don't really use it a lot, either.

The magnetron is apparently the most expensive part to replace.

    Good luck with yours.... ????

  2. YO!

Well, I'm saying that the breakfasts WE bought (see example picture, above - the wife's order) were between 69-89 Baht. That doesn't include coffee, if I remember rightly, but I've already had my coffee fill by that time. Under the round metal lid (in photo) is fruit.

As I stated, great grub and definitely not expensive. If/when we come to HH again,  we'll definitely be eating our breakfasts there again (presuming the business is still there, naturally)  ????

    Enjoy ????

  3. Oops - forget to give feedback ...... but better late than never.

We ended up eating breakfasts at JJ Bike Cafe every morning - brilliant food and dirt cheap, too (69 to 89B). Actually, we only saw the place as the wife wanted to eat at a Thai place, not far from JJ's - but it was never open (thank goodness! ????).  On the other hand JJ's opened at 6am and we were there around 6:30am.

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions - much appreciated! ????

  4. More good info - thanks!

Bakeries? They do English Breakfasts? I wasn't aware of that - I supposed that they were more coffee and croissant places. Yeah, I know some pubs do breakfasts, though they may first open mid-morning (at least a few years ago).

Can still remember Crazy Dave's breakfasts in Pattaya many years ago (yes, THAT Dave! ????) - full English breakfast @ 65B (I think it was) - absolutely brilliant.

    Cheers  ????

  5. Hi Guys!

We'll be visiting (and staying in) the central part of HH in March 2023. I feel a morning or two with English Breakfast coming on,  but our hotel doesn't (any longer) have food.

Can any of you guys recommend a restaurant in the central area that serves a decent English Breakfast?  A place that opens early would be a definite bonus, as we're early birds and like to get out and about as soon as possible.

We'd be prepared to walk/drive a bit if necessary - no probs.

Thanks for any help - and cheers  ????

Thanks for this thread. Just bought the Xiaomi 4 Lite to see how it performs. I assumed (wrongly) that the aircon alone would do a reasonable job.

That's interesting.... I see on Lazada The Xiaomi 4 Lite is priced from around 900 to over 3000 Baht (different Xiaomi 4 Lite models, of course).

Could you share which model you bought - and how you think it's working.

    Thanks ????

Thanks - I tried contacting them through their FB page asking for more details, but only got the answer that they are having a "small event" with no mention of what was on the menu or what times. No update (then) of their FB page to advertise the event, either. Guess we'll spring this one over through lack of info - even though the event itself may just be a great one, in reality. ????

  8. Hmmm...things is hotting up! ????

I also have a place of interest (maybe) - Duangtawan Hotel, which has both an Xmas Buffet and a Dinner, too. Look on their Facebook page for more details.

The Wild Hog (Hang Dong area) looks very interesting, so many thanks for that tip.

I don't think the Duke's would suit us this time around, but thanks, anyway.

    Keep 'em coming! ????

    • Thanks 1
  9. Well now - at last it's December and there ought not to be any further "big occasions" until Christmas.

Please do remember to keep an eye and an ear out for any Xmas buffets or fixed meals in CM and post the info here,

Many thanks to NancyL for the Le Meridien tip - we'll certainly take a look at that one!

    Thanks  ????

That is what they are advertising it for  , 99 Baht for a Christmas dinner for two , with a glass of Champagne and Christmas present as well all for 99 Baht advertised on the window outside .

If they dont follow through and provide the services advertised and offered, I will be straight back home to make a thread about it here on ASEANNOW

Definitely looking forward the THAT thread!  ????

Hate Xmas. Excuse to charge more for bad puddings and turkey which tastes like leather.

Yeah, maybe. We've never experienced a typical Xmas Meal (good or bad) at a restaurant/hotel so can't give any opinion.  Gotta try it just once, at least.  ????????

  12. Heh! Yeah, early perhaps - but better to be early than to be too late. It maybe gives folks some time and a chance to "notice" any good arrangements and post them here.

Agree - an Xmas buffet is preferable - but not always available. Thanks - Duke's is a start, at least.

  13. Hi Guys,

It's almost "that" time of the year again - and we're looking forward to coming to CM this year
for a Christmas Buffet - or even a Fixed Christmas meal (Lunch- or Dinnertime events).

I guess others here would also be very interested to know anything about any Xmas Buffets or (Fixed) meals,

    For example:
    - where,
    - what date interval (if any),
    - Lunch and/or Dinner,
    - time allotments (if any),
    - booking procedure and
    - cost per person.

Naturally, a link to the hotel/restaurant website would save listing much of the above.

Thanks - and have a Very Merry one, too !!

  14. A couple of alternatives (maybe).

    1. Find someone with an "acceptable" credit card.

    2. If you ever visit Chiang Mai, then there's a Braun "shaver booth" at Robinson's, Airport Plaza (on the 5th? floor). Sells other brands, too, I think.   The Thai Braun rep (wears a Braun shirt) is very helpful - and he may "privately" order/import your spare parts, if they're not available thru the normal channels. I've done that and had to pay about 200B over the normal price - no big deal. Takes a while (month or two) for the order to arrive. You need to have a Thai along, as his English is restricted. It's maybe worth buying a couple of sets at a time, as each set is supposed to last a couple of years, or so.

    3. Change to another model/brand. Philips shavers eat my face up, so I'm happy to stay with Braun - if possible.

  15. Been looking for spare parts, too .......don't know what Braun are thinking, selling items but not making provision for necessary spare parts, outside of Europe. The last time I bought a Braun shaver (Series 3, too), I bought 2 extra F & C sets at the same time, after having been 'burned' by a lack of spare parts on a previous occasion. Their shavers are really excellent, but their after-service often stinks.

Anyway, look here for your foil & cutter

    Cheers

  16. Hi, advise please!

We're thinking of buying a house and there is apparently nothing wrong with the chanote (copy)
that we've seen. It's "clean" and there are no debts listed.

However, can I be sure that there aren't any house-related debts or hidden debts (not mentioned by the owner) that could result in the house being taken from us at a later date.

Examples could perhaps be banks or credit (card) companies that may want the seller to sign papers, using the house as collateral.

I'm guessing that any personal debts would follow the seller, but not affect the status of the house.

I don't know if ALL house-related debts are required to be specified on the chanote, or not.

At this point I don't think there are any problems, but it would be nice to be sure about things.

    Thanks

Apologies if this is not in the correct forum.

  17. Good (rainy) morning!

I'll be going to CM in the very near future (Immigration Office) and I'm looking for a TABLET that's more than 11 inches, if there are any to be found. It doesn't have to be an expensive machine at all - I'll only be using it to show PDF files, so it doesn't need a lot of fancy specs or apps - just as long as the tablet is considered to be a "stable" product.

Obviously, the computer area at Airport Plaza would be nice to visit. I was there a few months back, though they didn't have any large tablets then, which strikes me as being strange (yes, I know TIT) - as large tablets (produced in Asia) are readily available in various European countries. I don't see any here in Thailand - and haven't been able to find a big one for sale on the internet, either. That said, I can well imagine that the Thai language sites have large tablets......

If anyone knows where a non-expensive, but reliable, large tablet is available in CM then please do let me know!

    Thanks smile.png
