  1. If you have a 10 million baht condo why sell it to put the money in a Thai bank account to earn very little interest when you could just rent the condo out for maybe 40k baht a month and keep the investment visa. If i am correct at 40k a month on 10 million condo then that would be 480,000 a year, minus communal fees and agents fees etc you should clear 4%. What do the banks pay in interest ?

She may be psychotic any mention off cut off makes me shudder she has access to certain kitchen utilities.

A lot of them are psychotic but are not professionally diagnosed. My wife has lived in Uk with me since 2003 and was diagnosed with psycho affective disorder early on. It is bit like a cross between Bipola  and schizophrenia. She has been on medication since this time, 20mg of Aripiprazole recentley increased from 15mg due to a relapse, this tablet is an antipsychotic medication. Relapses occur when she decides she doesn't need the medication.

After living with this for nearly 15 years and learning about mental disorders I now notice that there is a big mental problem in Thailand. It is very common problem bar girls. I doub't there is much mental health care in Thailand and the medications can be expensive, easily into 100's of £'s per month.

My advice is:  if you get involved with a lady that appears to show signs of mental health problems then get out of that relationship fast and let someone else have the problem. That advice is based on my 15 years personal experience.

This link below is about my wifes diagnosis:

  3. Hua Hin, nice clean place with lots of nice people. Far different from Pattaya.

If you are facebook then you can join some of the Hua Hin groups and learn more. There are lots of Hua Hin property groups on FB and you can find rentals from 10,000 a month upwards. Ive seen some nice 2 and 3 bedroom bungalows for 12k to 15k a month.

I also know of an English lady there that runs a fantastic international school, she also runs a charity called Jungle aid if you fancy doing some voluntry work. Herself and all the people working with her in her school and charity are lovely people.

On the opening photo the lady on the left with blonde hair is the lady that started and runs a great school

( I am a similar age to you at 47yr and I intend to go and live in Hua Hin soon )

A rather quaint way to look at it. If you made USD1500 at old rates; that would be what, B54,000 at 36 to 1?  No matter the current USD to THB rate, you are still making B54,000, are you not?

I think he might get paid in baht and he is talking about the conversion the other way round.

Okay thanks guys, seems like going to the airport is the best way, not going to take the chance with any thai officials thats for sure lol.

    Thanks for your input!

Definetly the best option is to buy a ticket and turn up at the aiport with a bit of spare time. In 2016 I had a 90 day overstay, turned up at airport, paid my 20,000 baht and had no problems. The staff were very polite, it only took a few minutes.

  6. http://www.thaiconsul-uk.com/non-immigrant-visa-cat-o-married.php

This visa is available with single entry only, it is no longer possible to be granted a multiple entry visa. If wishing to stay longer it will be necessary to visit a Thai Immigration Office near to where you will be staying and enquire about the procedure for extending your stay. The single entry visa is valid for three months from date of issue and allows a single stay in Thailand of up to 90 days.

So that we can obtain authorisation from the London Embassy to issue this visa it is necessary for the applicant to submit to us all documents relative to this visa therefore we request you to email scanned copies of the following to [email protected]

    1. Copy of the page of your passport with photo and details (passport must have minimum 6 months remaining validity at time of applying for the visa).
    2. Completed Visa Application Form with two recent passport size photographs attached.
    3. Copy of marriage certificate (Thai or UK) front and back.
    4. Copy of spouse’s Thai passport page containing photo and details.
    5. Copies of latest three months bank statements which must show applicant’s name and address.

As soon as we receive authority from the London Embassy we will invite you to visit us so that we can issue the visa and you will need to bring with you the following:-

    1. Your passport (minimum 6 months remaining validity and with at least two blank pages for the visa and for entry/exit stamps).
    2. Two recent passport size photographs as available from a photo booth.
    3. Original completed Visa Application Form.
    4. Visa fee of £50 (single entry) plus £10 processing charge = £60 in cash only.
    5. All the documents as listed above according to your purpose of visit.

  7. Do what Thais do, just let it go ......

And thats the reason service is so bad. They dont/are afraid to complain. This face thing causes thais to put up with all kinds of problems instead of complaining.

    Constructive criticism is unheard of.

You are right there. You can not advise them on anything. They know best and think us from the west are just stupid. ( I am married to a Thai for 11yrs )

  8. it isnt the loss of face, its the loss of the loss of fake face, they never had face. all the lowest class idiots bring up ''thai face'', its nothing but people lying to each to other, english teachers cant call on student that dont know the anser in class if there older then the kids who know the answer, he will simply loose face for being old, dumb, ill prepared and for not saving personal face.

they dont loose what they dont have, booze, ignorance, laziness, theese they face, and face them daily with thai style.coffee1.gif

Why would an English teacher be bothered about loosing face ? the loosing face problem is a Thai thing

  9. You're lucky they didn't cancel your ticket and make you buy a new one at the full walk in retail on the day price.

You should never rely on what those airport boards say, especially if a flight is delayed - that delay could disappear at a moments notice and it will depart without you as you found out.

So if his flight was delayed by say 3 or 4 hours would he not be able to go for a walk around ? incase the airline changed its mind and the plane could go sooner ?

Saying that I do think this guy was partly to blame as he decided to go walk about with such a small delay, I would have stayed put at the gate

  10. I am arriving in Bangkok in a few weeks time with my wife (Thai).

In the last 10+ years of coming to Thailand for a 1 month stay I have never been stopped and searched. Have things changed a lot in Bangkok since my last visit just over a year ago ?

I don't smoke and don't take drugs. I dress very casual and do not wear a watch or any gold and don't walk around with an iphone in my hand, my phone and wallet stay in my front pockets.

Where should I avoid walking to avoid getting stopped and searched and made to pay money for doing nothing wrong ?

I am staying at the Trendy in Soi 13 and would normally walk anywhere between Soi 3 and soi 23 without any worries in the past.

Are they targeting a certain type of tourist ? ie: one that looks like he has money ? ie: gold chains, expensive looking clothes, nice sunglasses, iphone in hand etc etc ? (all things that I avoid). I also don't allow my wife to take any of her gold to thailand

  11. If you can order online you will likely get a better deal than locking yourself into a single vendor.

10K Baht will get you a non-brand unit, 12K will get you something with a brand:

    Thanks

Its something I will consider doing but I would still like to find out the price of one in a Tesco Lotus as we will be stopping at one to buy my food supplies on the way to the village from Udon airport

Promotions literally very day by day / week by week, so no real point researching too heavily until Feb when you're closer to arriving I guess- the prices/options will surely change by then.

Thanks. ill keep my eye on these websites and nearer the time of travel

  13. Myself and the wife are coming into Thailand in February and when we visit her family I would like to buy a new television for them.

The only near by large store is a Tesco Lotus in the nearest town (on our way from udon thani airport to their village).

How much can I expect to pay for a 40" led Television ?

Here in the Uk the prices of televisions have come down a lot and I can by a 40" for £200ish (10k baht) here in the Uk.

We don't need a smart TV as there internet through an sat dish is crap. Just a bog basic Led will be fine.

  14. I will be in Thailand from 6th Feb till 5th March. Was thinking about coming down to Koh chang about 17th Feb for 2 or 3 night.

My question: is Koh Chang normally busy around this time ? I normally just turn up at white sands beach and find a bungalow on the beach to rent for around 1500 baht

  15. I do believe a Thai girl will choose an older man over a younger man as they automatically assume the the older men have more money. Obviously it is not always the case that the older men have more money, there are plenty of well off younger guys living in or visiting Thailand.

Even given the choice of a young handsome well off guy or an older guy, not as handsome but with the same wealth they will choose the older guy, because he would be expected to die quicker ! Money number 1, 2 ,3 4 etc. My Thai wife told me this years ago. I have been married 10 years so have a lot of experience. Have lots of friends with Thai wifes so I see everything that goes on. They are the most jealous people in the world, so jealous of friends that have more than them.

I have a handsome 45 yr old friend who has been married to his 38 yr old Thai wife for 8 years, she has a Thai friend who is about 35 yrs old. About 5 years ago this 35 yr old was married to a real handsome fit looking Uk fireman of a similar age to her. For whatever reason the relationship did not work out and they went their separate ways. The 2 girls lost tooch but now she has come back on the scene with a 70 yr old guy and my friends wife is so obviously jealous of her freind, she is even saying how proud she is of her friend ( for catching an older guy who they wrongly believe is very well off, she made sure he's for keeps by quickly getting pregnant to him ). Money is number one to them, the older you are the better as your natural life expectancy is less.

  16. The wife (thai) and myself will be arriving in bangkok on the evening of 6th Feb 2015 we will be staying till 6th March.

I am looking to rent an apartment in the Sukhumvit area, between soi 1 and Asoke. Last year we stayed at Teja Lake View at the end of Soi 4, we paid 20K plus electric for a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom. If nothing else comes up that takes my fancy I might get the wife to ring Teja and book something there again.

Would just like to see what my other options are first though. Will consider: Studio, 1 bed or 2 bed. I need WiFi and would like a swimming pool

Any of the side streets off the Sukhumvit between Soi 1 and Asoke is ok for us.

Maximum price would be 20k but I would like something a little cheaper if possible.

I see there are quite a few studios for rent at the Trendy Soi 13 at 18k per month but I don't think they will rent for 1 month only ?

  17. I have tickets for Emirates booked through Ebookers for 9th Dec Manchester (UK) to Bangkok. We can not make those flights and want to change to late Jan or Feb. Ebookers say they will not change the flights and I have tried Emirates direct and they say they can not and that it is up to Ebookers to change them. I am happy to pay there minimum change fee of £110 per ticket and my tickets for 9th Dec are worth a lot more to them than the dates I would want to change to. Any ideas what i can do ? or have you had a similar situation.

  18. Indeed.

That is on the MCOT own TV clip. If that is the case, then the whole case must be judged bogus

Sometime a picture is worth more than a thousand words..

I don't see what point you are making. The phone Hannah has is not the same phone as the one her friend has in the photo with the police.

Where did you get that information from? Do you have a source please?

Don't need a source, just look at the photos, Hannah's phone is not the same as the one her friend has when she is talking to the police.

It looks like the same phone, what looks different about the phone to you ?
