    Good lights.

Not anytime soon in Thailand. ????

    Yes, happy with the light.

It's great the emphasis here is on growing, in rural areas they are selling seedlings at the corner stall. With a 15 plant rule and plenty of farmers who can't afford indoor, it may be sooner than later.

Back on topic, I think the OP should go with the most basic system, provided it can be improved later. It's worth remembering most add ons will mean more electricity; more plugs and leaders, so more danger.

  2. I bought a Mars 300w with a good rep for 10k, a grow tent was B3,200, fans B400 ea. Then there's things like electrical leads, soil/grow media, pots etc. It's working fine so far, but there's no air con and temps are about 3 degrees hotter in the tent than outside.

Once upon a time the best cannabis was suited to hot climates, now it's cooler climates but there are strains available that can cope with the heat and the tent will be cooler that outside under the sun. Whether these strains are as strong as other varieties I don't know, but life's a compromise.

With more countries legalizing cannabis, I think there will be a move away from lights, mainly due to cost. One thing about the sun is nobody's paying for it, so nobody's paying for ads, articles and blog posts telling you how good it is.

They have done some work around Rangsit and in Pathum Thani, but it will be interesting to see how much it works.

Did they complete the work? There are walls of around a meter along hwy 305, but last I looked there were gaps, which make it useless. A year or two after the floods they were back working on housing estates that had been abandoned. Short memories, let's see how things pan out.

    Hi Mate,

In the photo I posted there were just 5 plants, now down to 4 as one of the plants was not producing desirable cuttings.

The reflector is a 80cm Parabolic (vertical lamp) with 400w Phillips Metal Halide Master HPI-T lamp.

I have now changed that to a 100cm Parabolic and the 80cm will be used a growing on light for cuttings that have just rooted before they go into their big pots.

On the side walls I have 2 of these:

    IMG_20220825_095433.thumb.jpg.7a38ee5c7864ca90d166db3993284992.jpg

The combination of the metal halide, which is basically pure blue, with some of the full spectrum from the LED's on the side walls produces an excellent spectrum for vegging plants - sure you could make a LED that would probably do just as well but generally the manufacturers don't as they want their lights to do both veg and flowering.

Also the vertical lamp makes the plant reach up for the light which is perfect for mother plants.

Grow tents are awesome inventions - I have sold thousands in the UK and used a fair few myself but for precise environmental control full room growing is in my opinion easier to control.

I will get around to putting some Mylar up but in reality it won't make much difference for me so it's not high on the list of to-do jobs. ????

    Cheers.

Tomster, what is your opinion of using the tube style LEDs for sprouts and cuttings? I've used the fluros a long time ago and was happy. I have bought the Mars light and will give feedback. Overall I'm very impressed with how cool the LEDs run.

  5. Thanks Tomster, that's very helpful. I am looking at moving outdoors for flowering once the rain stops (all tropical strains). I have a decent amount of land. Currently I've borrowed one from a mate and the sprouts are doing OK. Outdoors is harsh, especially with the unpredictable whether. I'd use it for seeds, clones and maybe some mothers. Nothing firmed planned as yet, I will see where it takes me. I enjoy gardening, hydro and aquaponics.

  6. I do need a lawyer, but not necessarily for court. Can anybody recommend a lawyer? I spoke to a farang with a law office, but the next time I visited he gave me different info, this was a free consultation.

Another Thai lawyer I spoke to charged a reasonable rate, but when I went back there a month later she didn't remember me and the info was different. She doesn't seem to keep files, throwing away notes after consultation.

Can anybody recommend a lawyer? I don't think the good ones will consult for free.

You cant own property so buying her out is not really an option.

I hope you find a good lawyer to solve your problem.

I'd be looking at putting it in a company owned by our kids, I should have pointed that out.

  8. It's looking like a divorce is on the cards for me. We've been separated now for a few months. We have four properties, a main one with usufruct in my name, two pieces of land and a house currently being paid off.

Does anyone know the procedure for divorce? I'm told even though owning land is not legal for farang, a judge will normally take it into account as a joint asset and this should be considered when coming to an agreement.

Preferably I'd like to buy her out of some property and think she would be open to this as selling would be very slow. Can anybody offer advice on how to proceed? I would like to keep it out of court, but would still need a lawyer for advice. Can anyone recommend one in Bkk or Chonburi?

I guess that you are one of the champions who also didn't see medical weed coming in Thailand ?

Even if nobody is able to understand why and even if I am not allowed to post here the reason why it will become legal, trust me, it will, someone just need to be able to think to know...

I'm no champion of anything, but MMJ was proposed well before the 2019, but I still don't it really see it coming in Thailand. Every couple of weeks there's a media release and plans, then nothing.

Thais are great planners and change their minds often, it doesn't seem they know what they're doing but you are alluding to having special knowledge, good for you. One day it will be legal sure, but let's not hold our breath. Krathom is harmless, they were supposed to legalize it in 2014 and yet we still see people getting arrested.

    soon ❤️

Unless there are major changes I doubt it very much. Although it's possible ppl will just start growing themselves, this is already happening in some districts. With Thailand moving so slow while other countries develop their industries, the only opportunities may be for domestic consumption.

Similar to opium, medical marijuana can be grown in fields, which is where the industry is heading.

  11. I've been trying to find out the details for registering a company that will be used to own land and am getting varying/confusing info. Some say the company can be 48% farang owned, others say 39%. This is OK, I will go for 39% to be sure.

Other conflicting info relates to the registered capital. One company told me the Thai shareholders should have a bank statement showing funds of equal value to the shares they own (e.g. 1m registered capital would mean the 31% shareholder would have a statement showing B310,000 in their account). I'm not sure exactly what type of statement would be required. Some have said I should have preferred shares, some say I shouldn't,

I've read quite a bit here and elsewhere. Sometimes the info is old, sometimes it is conflicting and I understand there are also variations between provincial land departments. Can anyone point me in the right direction so that I'm not wasting money and time doing things that aren't necessary. Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately you have not chosen the best panel voltage for PWM charging a 12V battery. This probably came about through thinking only about the watts of panel and pump.

If you do manage to successfully get a PWM controller to charge your 12V battery with 330W 46V panel you will be throwing away power. This is often where the confusion starts when PWM charge controllers fail to deliver.

Before moving forward its best that you understand a little about power point and why MPPT control will help compensate for your mistake.

I am happy to get an MPPT controller, but want to know it's limitations so I don't end up in a similar situation. My concern with the controller Crossy posted was it's maximum rating of 740w, which is only 2 panels. I

I realize there is a lot to learn, originally I thought the panels were a 'much of a muchness' and with a cheap controller and 300w panel I'd be OK. As with all things the devil's in the detail. Is the panel I've bought a really bad choice?

  13. Thanks Crossy. From the info I've supplied can you tell me the parameters for a charge controller that will work with my 330w panel?

The controller that you linked to is more expensive than the panel itself. Do I need an expensive controller because I bought a larger panel and will I need several controllers if I have several panels? That controller is only suitable for 720w, which is 2 panels.

Originally I was thinking controllers were a small part of the cost, now it seems otherwise. Do I really need a PMMT controller in Thailand?

    You have a 330W panel.

If you have a real MPPT controller driving a 12V battery 330W = 28A so you need a >30A charge controller. But you must check the max input voltage, most of these small controllers are less than the output of a 330W panel!!

I'm trying to figure this out, the controller says it's rated for up to 390w at 12v. So it should be OK? Below is info from my panel, if somebody could use this to tell me the parameters I'll need to check when looking for a controller.1215665816_SolarPanelspecs.jpg.81569eb47c5372f966f8c06452b658f5.jpg

This is from the back of the panel.

These are the specs for the controller:

    Rated charging current: 30a | 40a | 50a| 60a | 100a

    Rated discharge current: 10a | 20a | 20a | 30a | 30a

Solar photovoltaic voltage :12V battery with 18V solar panel, 24V battery with 36 solar panel

    Full Voltage Value : Lithium Battery (12.2V) | B02 Colloidal Battery (14.2V) | B03 Open Cell (14.6V)

    Floating Charge Voltage : 13.7 V ( Default, Adjustable )

    Discharge cutoff voltage::10.7 V ( default, adjustable )

    Discharge recovery voltage: 12.6 V ( default, adjustable )

    Standby current :10mAUSB

    Output : 5V / 2A MAX

    Operating temperature:- 35 - 60

  15. Thanks for your help, if I could just clarify a few things:

17v to a 12v battery is too much and will damage the battery?

Do I need to buy an expensive controller to handle my 330w panel?

What parameters should I look at in a controller?

Please let me know if you need more info from me. As I've said earlier, I'm very new to this.

How do I know a particular controller will handle my panel? The info when purchasing is limited and sometimes just wrong. The manuals are written in Chinese style English which doesn't give the full story.

Crossy: The controller you suggested is more than 10 times the cost of a cheap one. Is this due to the 330w panel? And what if I add other panels? That unit is only rated for 740w, which would be 2 panels. Would I need to add another unit for every two panels?

Is an MPPT really necessary here in Thailand?

Your panel voltage exceeds the max value required by the charge controller.

If you're correct then is the controller only suitable for a very small panel? So what type of controller do I need? I only have a single panel. The listing selling controllers rarely states their operating parameters.

The other cheaper controller I had was OK until I accidentally turned off the battery side and it smoked.
