  1. Lou,............... N-Joy bar sadly passed away today..................I have been told he will return to N-Joy today so folk can go and pay their respects. I am going this evening to see if he is there and say a few words.

    RIP Lou, enjoyed our talks

  2. This Friday, April 24th Ubon Immigration will be at Anuban school beside Tung Sri Muang from 0900 to 1130 to provide mobile service for 90 day reports and extension services. For more information you can contact Capt. Pim @ 089-131-4399.

  3. If you do to Sunee Grand Hotel and go down in the basement of their City Mall there are a few vendors down there with affordable suitcases. There is not a reputable suitcase repair here that I know of unless you purchased name brand luggage. Also is the basement of Central if you go down on the escalator around the center of the 1st floor

  4. When you exit the baggage claim area at Ubon airport if you look to you left there are 2 booths there that provide point to point limo service. One of them should be able to get your where you want to go.

  5. The shop mentioned is great and has a lot more available than just whole wheat flour. I have also purchased it and the vegetarian restaurant a few blocks east of the main post office. There is a shop that sells herbal, organic and such behind the restaurant. The restaurant is only open for lunch but I am not sure of the shop hours.

  6. A nice day trip from Mukdahan might be head down to Ubon to a place called Sam Pan Bok. It is interesting, if you love nature. It is a spot on the Mekhong that exposes many rocks with many crater like holes. It resembles scenes from the moon, showing its craters. It is only visible when the waters recede so should be good during Songkhran. It is on highway 2112 south of Kemmerat. There are a few eating shops on location and some good restaurants within a short drive or boat ride. You can do a search for Sam Pan Bok to get a preview. Just a suggestion if you are looking for a new place to experience.

  7. I don't know for sure if they sell canopies but I have seen roll bars and bumper guards being installed. If they don't have canopies maybe can direct you to the correct place. It is located at the north end of Tung Sri Muang, the T-intersection go north about 100-200 meters and you will see the shop on the right hand side. It should be Phadaeng Rd. If you are coming from the north just go passed Wrong Way about 2 blocks and it is just before you arrive at Tung Sri Muang on the left hand side. Hope this helps.

  8. The lunch buffet at Laythong Hotel offers 2-3 western dishes with their mostly Asian cuisine. But other than that I don't know of any that specialize in European dishes.

  9. Thanks for that I will have a look next time we are up the city. Just to clarify (as I didn't know there was a tourism office here!) are you talking about driving on the main road out of the center so Robinsons and Big Buy is behind you, towards the bridge on the way to DoHome?

No it's not on that road. If you are coming south you turn left just passed the provincial hall at the south end of the park, Tung Sri Muang. If you are traveling north from Warin you turn left at the intersection with the library, provincial hall, gas station and museum. Go passed the south end of the park where the night food market is, passed Ubon Hotel, passed Suzuki and Ratchathani Hotel. Tourism office is on the left a few blocks down, the shop with ovens is on the right hand side at the intersection just passed the tourism office and a bank beside it. The name of the road is Khuan Thani

  10. I don't know what a hob is but I bought a small gas oven with 3 burner stove which is plenty for what you described. I have baked chickens, turkey, ribs, bread, and many other things. We bought it downtown at a place called Seerung or something like that. It is across from Tourism offiice on the left side of the street heading down to the river. Its an electronics shop but mostly air conditioning, refrigerators, stoves, ovens, kitchen appliances, water coolers and a few TV and audio items. Give it a try I think you will find what you are looking for.

  11. I have often stayed at Rajapruk Hotel. It is close to the bus station. If you head back towards town just passed Big C from the bus station it is right at the T intersection. I think it is around 1000 per night and includes buffet breakfast. You could walk to the bus depot in 15 minutes or 2 minutes by taxi.

  12. I used the AEON ATM and at the machine there was no alert regarding a 150 Baht fee and asking if I want to proceed. However looking at my bank statement there was a charge for non-bank card withdrawal. So it seems they do charge just don't let you know up front.
